I find it weird that you get a damage boost while going fast on horseback, but you don't take any extra damage. Riding around with two bolts sticking out of my eyes.
Best way to deal with the giant fuck you swords and mauls? A dagger, or a spear. Dagger's way too fast for them to react to. Spear is basically a fuck you to their range.
I don't have a problem fighting against them, just getting hit by them if that makes any sense. I can whack a fully unarmored naked man with a two handed maul to the chest and deal only 80 damage but an executioners sword to the same spot is an instant kill. I just feel like it would be fairer if 90 damage was the max so you can still one hit people who don't have a full 100 health but still give people a chance to gtfo or fend them off after receiving a single blow. I guess I'm just tilted from all the guys spamming swings with the executioners into ongoing fights and cutting down 3 to 4 full health light armor guys just because they were blind sided.
the pan is no laughing matter im currently roleplaying as an angry scottish cook https://i.imgur.com/0NbR14V.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/224422/13c88c29-431b-4013-a836-98d1b97c6adf/Pot Kill_5.webm https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/224422/6bcc5b3f-40dd-49ec-8bde-2ad2c4a02f45/Pot Kill_4.webm https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/224422/8c635d48-dfea-4127-a369-f3e875bdf4bc/Pot Kill_3.webm https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/224422/be7202d7-e82a-40f7-a2a4-cf9f54df9b29/Pot Kill_2.webm https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/224422/2dbf298c-fa94-44aa-a977-2eca6267d6bb/Pot Kill_1.webm
it really should knock you off the horse if you get hit going fast tbh
"What are they going to do, swing at my legs?" - Man who recently lost two legs
one thing i notice is a lot of the good duelers always swing for your lower half. probably to stop you from trying to duck them. i'm tempted to try jumping over one at some point, but i'm not sure how well that'd work for me
I hope we get Teutonic helms I wanna make Shovel Knight.
Just bought this, but I can't launch the game through Steam. It'll sync but won't even launch.
Whats weird is that ive done that, but idk what triggered it. I think the billhook and the poleaxe can yoink riders right off the horse.
i feel like crossbows should at the very least be able to knock you off too. there's a lot of blunt force behind a crossbow bolt compared to an arrow, especially if you're wearing armour
I don't know what you mean by "blunt force" when you're talking about something thin like a bolt head, but the force behind a crossbow bolt is not much different than the force behind a longbow arrow. Comparing typical examples side-by-side means that there is really little effective difference between the actual projectiles of the two. However, if that means an outright buff of all ranged weapons to horsemen, then I wouldn't mind that.
The most damaging weapons are already the slowest and any fast weapon will fuck up the pacing of slow weapon users. Zweihanders and Mauls can't do jack shit about someone stabbing them with a throwing axe lol, it stabs and recovers faster than you can block it. The Maul and blunt weapons in general do less damage to unarmoured and low armoured targets versus bladed weapons, keep that in mind when picking your targets and maybe carry a bladed weapon as a backup.
I've noticed something, there's two weapons in horde mode that aren't anywhere else. The Ogre club and Great Maul, I'm sure the Ogre club makes sense since it's just a upscaled heavy branch, but the Great maul looks nothing like the normal maul, although I guess it shares a resemblance to the Warhammer but why can't we dick around with that.
How dare I have the audacity to omit armour on half of my body length
Shovels, lutes and frying pans scares the shit out of me. My ego is so big that if I get attacked all I can think of is the embarrassment of getting killed by them.
https://i.imgur.com/cpUHjON.png My knight I use the most. I'm loving the longsword, and the cleaver is a good back-up for a mix-up in a brawl or to chuck at someone's head.
Look yeah everyone else will be trying to do the objective and I'll be sneaking past the battle to try and 1v1 the king but I keep getting killed so what do I do
It's interesting when playing you can see who has played a bunch of chivalry and who hasn't. I recognize that attempt at that 360 dragging anywhere. Someone is facing way left and try to drag their attacks onto me which just ends up with a miss and he's looking in a different direction which lets me get a easy hit.
Go light armor, equip rat so people won't hear you, flank around the battle area, and chop the head off of every archer you see, ez kills.
I've never played Chivalry so I had no experience in this genre of games at all, my tactic is literally "poke them with the Zweihander"
Being cornered by two big burly dudes with two big burly weapons and them coming out on top with your humble targe and sword is a supreme feeling.
One hit weapons don’t bother me much because dying isn’t really punishing in this game, you just respawn and get back into the fray.
One hit weapons bother me because it feels so satisfying smashing people's heads to mush.
So I tried a new method. Lets say two cowards gang up on you, one flanks your right and the other flanks your left and constantly attacks you, and you can't do shit because you know you're going to die. What do you do? By instinct you walk backwards trying to block each attack, but what I've realized is that you're supposed to go straight forward. They don't predict that stuff so they react slower to your choice of movement. With this time you can get behind them and position yourself so they're both on one side only, and you can either strike them or luckily retreat. So far this has worked everytime because it goes against the norm. Don't always trust your instincts, don't be predictable. Let me demonstrate https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58145/f1b0c228-98e0-408d-a3c0-9d36ec78948f/564624565.jpg
Got the game a few days ago. I never played Chivalry, so I'm getting absolutely dicked on in melee combat, but it's still super fun. The biggest problem I have is dealing with rapiers/shields. I've been trying to kick down shield-users/morph into a kick, but they always just walk back and stab me with a spear whenever I try to do it, or just counter it. You guys got any tips?
make a local deathmatch server with one bot and use these commands: Toggledamage Togglestamina slomo .5 then when you're read slomo .75 then back to slomo 1, the normal game speed. You'll learn everything real quick especially how to chamber.
Chambering the rapier stabbers is one of the more satisfying things to do in this game
Yeah, Rapiers and Spears are very easy. Because they derive so much from thrusts, you don't need to do a lot of work to anticipate and time a chamber against them. In contrast to them, weapons like the maces and mauls are harder to chamber because they tend be exclusively swung and the timing and angle on that is much more dynamic. And when someone does stab with them, it's usually very unexpected.
Finally decided to ditch the 240 controls and use binds. I tried to map most of the actions to the mouse buttons while keeping it somewhat intuitive. Binding parry to a different button really screws me over though. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/215488/baf0f8f3-d982-4dfe-9bf6-0ce45a1e9842/mordhau-binds.png
