After the rapier mocks started getting disarmed I watched several of them form this kite shield phalanx nonsense on frontline, and backed our team off the objectives without much swordplay.
... At risk of getting vote kicked I started lobbing firebombs at them. Is this the legitimate reason they were added to the game? It felt like modern warfare 2 where some big brain boys decide to have fun mashing the indestructible riot shield together, until someone pulls and RPG out of their ass.
Does anyone else get kinda sick when they look at the gnomes in horde mode?

No matter how I time my attacks, the guy horsing around always gets me, this time with a sword double its length.
Being kicked from the server when switching maps because it's full is so retarded.
Seeing shield + short spear/rapier users get kicked to death by 6 people in a corner is one of my greatest joys in life.
I hope we get some sort of sabre in the future, my ideal one-hander is something with the rapier's stats but less stabby. I enjoy the rapier for its balance of speed, power, and length, but I prefer swinging over stabbing. Perhaps it'd be unbalanced, even if you give it fuck-all thrusting power, but the falchion is too stubby and slow for me.
A cavalry sabre might be out of period but you could get away with a turko-mongolian sabre, kilij, or thinner-bladed scimitar.
Messer fulfills your desired niche. I do agree that a middle eastern themed update would be glorious.
My 2 cents on horde mode would be to scrap it and go to a knights putting down a peasant revolt mode where you get 1k to spend on whatever you want and then see how far you can go oppressing the filthy serfs.
The Messer is basically a sabre
It's a pretty good sword, it feels faster than a longsword, it feels more dangerous than a bastard sword, and it's definitely one of the best weapons to behead folk with.
It's also slower than the rapier by a full second cumulatively, which is the dealbreaker for me. I would happily trade the extra damage and 9cm of reach for speed, the rapier hits a particular zone I prefer even in its swings which are slower than the stabs.
I thought someone might've slipped me some LSD or some shit when I first encountered them because they look so jarring compared to everything else in the game.
Killed 6 people with the catapult, a friendly came from behind kicked me and took the catapult from himself he then proceeded to kill a singular team mate.

Honestly people who think they own the catapults and who go as far as TK'ing just to have it are fucking horrible.
i remember i was in a team with someone who'd scream in chat "WHO MOVED MY FUCKING CATAPULT" whenever someone touched it

I've just been votekicked from a duel server because I dared to pick my fencing themed mercenary. Didn't even get to fight anyone. Jesus.
Maybe I'm lucky but so far whenever I use a catapult friendlies do a good job of at least ignoring me.
Maybe just a friendly slap on the ass if I teamkilled them earlier but I usually apologize and we're gucci.
There may be hope for me yet. Training with bots is starting to pay off a bit.

I hope they add a proper Viking-style round shield skin for the heater shield in the future. The targe just doesn't cut it for me, it's too small.
I'm hoping we get, hilarious as it sounds Asian and Middle Eastern weapons and armor.
Don't count on Japanese weapons and what not, but they have said they'll consider adding in "Eastern" armour in the future (probably armour that Saracens might've used).
