I'm a bastard sword user. I just love that thing. I have my Dark Angel/Dr. Doom 3/3/3 knight who I kit out with heavier weapons like the War-Axe, Maul, and Longsword. But my main is a 1/1/1 with Dodge and Fireproof that swings a Bastard Sword with either a Kite Shield or Throwing Axes. Honestly it's kinda great when people try to block off an area with fire pots, and just charging through with a raised shield at them like the fire doesn't exist. Half the time people just panic and run since they don't expect anyone to actually make it across. Swapping styles on it in the middle of a fight is great since it is functionally the same either way aside from a slight difference in the total time the swings can deal damage. But since the animations are a little different it throws people off and they start mistiming blocks.
Sounds like a frontline main's experience. Even on frontline small weapons are viable you just have to flank and avoid big confrontations where who has the biggest stick and the most friends wins. I spent some time in duel servers experimenting builds, and even though I like my big 2 handers, I can still hold my own with something like a bastard sword against a zwei. It just requires a change of tactics, you have to have a ton of mobility to fully take advantage of the small 1 handers, other wise you just have a shitty greatsword that doesn't let you turtle or poke from a safe range.
i really appreciate that armor and weapon weight doesn't affect the dodge in any way, it makes for some really interesting builds where you're slow between battles but extremely nimble and strong during them
If you're up against like three enemies who aren't very good, it's actually easier than dealing with one good player because they will usually just smash in to each other with every strike and constantly stagger each other. If you have dodge, even against decent groups of players it's easy to bait people in to hitting their friends.
One gimmick I've taken a liking to doing in team gamemodes is going for Dodge, Bloodlust, and 3/3/1 armour. You may notice I don't have a weapon. Yep.On-Site Procurement. I just hide behind team mates and grab weapons from the floor. Heavy Armour, Dodge and a Halberd is a pretty powerful combination. Bloodlust just lets you keep up some momentum when you start killing.
I literally don't get this - there are so many people having fun with so many different builds, I am genuinely impressed that there are so many different viable combinations.
Fire rate is fine I think, given how inaccurate it is.
Is it just me who doesn't really enjoy frontlines? I mostly play dueling servers or horde, but frontlines always ends up either you getting gangbanged by 2 or 3 people, or you gangbanging someone else with 2 or 3 people, and idk I just don't find any fun in that.
Not at all, there's quite a few people who just live in duel servers 24/7 Now liking horde though..... the heck you smoking m8???
I want to love this game more, but the lagspikes is just a third wheel that keeps dragging me down. Especially because it keeps happening on the least unopportune times. Rapier guy wants a piece of me? Alright, I'll have to be careful due to my slow maul-nope, you get lagspikes the instant he's within range! Some fuckos stole team's catapult? No worries, I'll run up to it and-nope, you get lagspikes the instant you're within two meters of it! Okay, this time I'll just destroy the thing, since it's too deep in the enemy lines-nope, you get lagspikes the instant you hit it the first time! On a lighter note, enjoy this screenshot of two neutrons stars about to collide with each other. https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/805493861294534008/19EA72DA6176937BC523EB898093F8519FA95535/
Lol, literally bought this game only for the horde mode.
The Frontline maps need a lot of help. If any team goes on the defensive (except Mountain Pass, opposite case there it seems) the game basically stalemates. The spawns are in really awful positions in some maps like Camp/Taiga where the mid-point basically drops you right onto the defend-objective meaning you may cut through the same person three times trying to grab it, if you don't have it. Then there's other weird things like the last two points in Taiga basically being the same spawn point 5m apart for Red, or the last two on Camp for Blue being tucked inside their camp while Red spawns right out in the open between two objectives.
Stalemates are an intrinsic part of 5 point control point maps in any game. TF2 6v6 specifically designed itself around not having stalemates in 5cp maps and they still get 30 minute matches so anything to do with 5cp is guaranteed to be stalematey.
is there a way to unlock more loadout points? i've seen a bunch of dudes in full heavy armor, a zweihander, a lance and a bow and some perks and i'm seriously wondering how the fuck they're doing that

Joining Horde mode past Wave 10
Gotten into a decent set of habits for helping late-joining players in horde. picking up thrown rocks and discarded weapons, dropping them near the spawn area using the rare and epic level random weapon chests can be pretty good for getting weapons for comparatively cheap buying all three levels of armour so light and medium will drop when as I upgrade to the next. The two changes to player cash that I think would make Horde mode much better: Late joining players are retroactively rewarded "wave completed" coin to catch up. Remember Weapons and Coin for disconnected players in case they rejoin, also retroactively providing reward cash for missed waves.

I've discovered from two identical guys with bucklers and a shit load of rocks that people generally don't know how to react if you just throw a bunch of rocks at them and don't stop.
Hey wait a minute WHERE ARE THE SLINGS >:c
The problem is the spawn for Camp is way too close to the objective, and the Blue spawn is so atrocious it makes you go around 50 huge huges and some trees and a river just to get there. The red spawn as well before their camp is also super close and a straight path to the objective.,
now with everyone and their mom playing engineer moving a horse around the map is impossible take me off this wild ride
'bout time, I've had it up to here with you filthy horse fuckers.
the only good cavalry is ballista'd cavalry.
Cavalry vs Cavalry is awesome Oh and if someone hit a wall and stopped with the horse, just throw a firebomb at 'em
I'll always remember the time I went full speed into spikes not thinking it would do anything.
I remember my first game and I was advancing across the river on Camp, watched half of our attacking forces die and foolishly retreated right into the spikes preventing the enemy from attacking.
Open up the console and type in changelevel horsefield addbot 63 You're welcome.
Sometimes Chivalry strats still work just fine. https://cdn-b-east.streamable.com/video/mp4/oamm9.mp4?token=MpZ3ntU72xNJiDkgRIZlTg&expires=1558091940
