They do if you turn enough. I've been really loving my poleaxe because if you do really fast swings from below the shield while turning you almost always clip someone with it.

I hate how the game really loses its flavor and visual charm once you realize in order to truly mixup your attacks you have to flail and spin around as if a scorpion suddenly landed on your mouse-hand, the kind of game where you know you have to play it early if you want to truly enjoy it before all the dreaded best / ""meta"" crap starts showing up, and before you know it everyone'll be a damn helicopter.
But that doesn’t work here. Literally.
I've finally managed to chamber more strikes now. I didn't know how to chamber to being able to chamber about 10% of the strikes after playing on dueling servers for hours
You can't have the hitbox through a block but nothing really stops you from going helicopter.
Yes. There is literally a function preventing you from "Helicoptering". You can max your mouse sensitivity(I tried, 16000 DPI) and turn as fast as you want mid swing. You won't be able to helicopter.
S'pose helicoptering was an exageration, here's an example of what I mean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utSFELaz0K0 The guy obviously knows what he's doing, but it just looks so stupid (to me that is) how much emphasis there is on swinging around and hope your opponent screws up the timing cause of how janky the model twists about.

That doesn't look that dumb to me honestly. Go back to the tutorial. Even in the tutorial it tells you outright "Change when your hit will land by turning into it to help get around blocks". If you meet someone who's good at blocking, it's quite hard to get past their guard. This is a way to further make it possible to beat strong defensive players by changing the pace at which you connect blows.
In addition, they've stated multiple times that they're dedicated in trying to prevent the game from becoming too exploitable/silly. That video really isn't all that bad, and even then, it's quite likely that they're going to modify things as needed.
I dunno, man, that swordplay looked pretty awesome to me. Leagues better than most high-level duels in Chivalry, where you saw a lot of mauls 1-hitting on upside-down backwards overheads. All the extra techniques and layers of melee combat really help Mordhau's case. Chambering, morphing, and disarming really multiply the number of viable approaches. What I remember from Chivalry was people either relying on dirty feints or greatly increasing/decreasing their swing speed, and at worst, both at the same time.
I guess I just don't see wild swaying of the mouse as a layer to the combat, it feels like it detracts from what the game intends, I feel like your turning should be limited to roughly what is done in the tutorial to limit dancing and promote maintaining eye sight on your opponent, there's times where I end up getting the killing blow because I basically present my back then still have enough of an arc to swing back around, it just doesn't feel good (to me).
Think about holding a 3-4 foot piece of sharp steel, and how if you swung it horizontally, the momentum of said swing and the object in your hands means that the tip of the blade is maximizing it's motion for the majority of your swing. This is what the game is simulating. Widen your FOV or just accept that recreating physical combat with a mouse and keyboard has its limitations and there's some elements that aren't 1:1 translatable.
I'm guessing this is more controllable on controller? Cause trying to be precise(attack direction and all that) on m+kb makes me wanna commit not live. Also do I put in a support ticket somewhere or something if my supporter stuff isn't in my game or is this an issue their working on?
I wouldn't recommend it on a controller if that's your main complaint
I mean if we're going to get into that rabbit hole, I wouldn't present my back to take a few steps away from my target, I wouldn't do large horizontal swings in the first place, and I certainly wouldn't wind up into a 180+° angle like a madman, and no matter what kind of offensive or defensive maneuver I'm going for I'd certainly never break sight or switch angle so much under any circumstance.

I rebound overhead strike to mouse wheel up, and underhand strike to mouse wheel down, and stab and kick to M5 and M4 respectively. This makes having a variety of swings at the ready a lot easier to do.
I did the same thing and since then I have skyrocketed in kills.
