1 hour and 20 mins until RAGE 2 on the Bethesda Launcher drops. Looking forward to find out if it's better than the first.
The real question is whether or not it's worth it full price, I mean from a gameplay point of view, it being like DOOM sounds great, but what about everything else.
all i remember from rage 1 is how sick the ragdolls are and how they stumble around before dropping dead. its so weird that no other IDtech games have those awesome ragdoll physics and i wish rage 2 has them as well.
I pre-ordered RAGE 2 on GMG at the last minute to get the RAGE 1 bonus game - only to find out too late that RAGE 2 was a Bethesda Launcher key while RAGE 1 was a Steam key. Christ fuck i'm dumb.
Apparently RAGE 2 is out now? Thought Steam was unlocking at 12 Eastern, but Steam says it's unlocked and I'm not preloading this download.
Are you even able to look at your character after you select their gender?
They show up when you ride motorcycles and other vehicles that have openings.
It's really weird to be honest. There's the pre-order "Nicholas Rainer" skin which, all it does, is that you get the armor during a very short DLC mission that just change how you look. You don't select it or anything, and it doesn't do any difference.
That's pretty lame. I mean the skin itself isn't anything too special, but it's kind of misleading on the impressions that the game will have different cosmetics and some form of customization beyond the gender choice.
I'm enjoying it so far, it's sorta what I was expecting, an open world game that plays like the latest Doom and Wolfenstein. Characters models are not too impressive, even compared to the original Rage (Which, to be completely honest, had awesome character models with really smooth animations even by today's standards) Open world seems fine to me? It's clearly thought to be less about exploring and more about driving around with your car, not too spectacular but does its job.
The animations in RAGE 1 is still something that impress me to this day. It's animated by hand, and all the NPC interactions have such weight and power behind it. Makes you actually wanna pay attention to it. Shame RAGE 2 doesnt have that.
rage 2 seems ok just got to the open world. what i dont get though is why they made a doom style shooter with id and they chose to use there shitty apex engine over idtech6, its slow the resolution scaling is awful. they made a big thing about its colourful artstyle and there shitty engine doesnt have HDR
Probably because they were more familiar with that engine, working on Id Tech would've meant taking things way more slowly. It's kinda ironic, Rage 1 was basically a tech demo for Carmack's new engine, and it's sequel is not even on an Id made engine anymore.
No One Live Forever might come back https://www.gamesradar.com/female-spies-are-really-interesting-tomb-raider-writer-rhianna-pratchett-wants-to-reboot-the-cult-classic-no-one-lives-forever/ but I don't know if anyone want it srsy keep this game dead and just re-release 1 and 2 on GOG, thx
Just do a remaster of No One Lives Forever with the bonus levels from the PS2 version as unlockables.
There are fan-made remasters of both NOLFs - patched up, higher resolution and works on Win10 without problems - available on some site dedicated to these games.
I wonder if there will be a reason why some of the weapons in Doom Eternal look hell-ified, like the rail gun and the rocket launcher
railgun? Remind me about this laser gun from Doom64, no reason either
Canonically in Doom 2 they establish that when hell invades Earth it actually starts merging dimensions and most technology/architecture gets warped as a result.
Playing through RAGE 1 given that i've sworn I won't play RAGE 2 as my birthday present until next Monday, and I can already see why RAGE 2 is such a large departure; the first game wasn't open world but more linear, and it's practically an RPG with FPS design and road warrior mayhem. It feels kinda inconsistent in what it wants to be, though.
I look at the open world of RAGE 1 the same way I look at the open world of NES Legend of Zelda: there's some things to find and it can be fun to explore, but it's largely just facilitating getting you between dungeons.
id dropped them for Doom because they often relied upon realistically stumbling forewards and they wanted guns to, as they do in the original games, force the monsters backwards a step or two for crowd control
anyone know what this door is for? i tried flying above it but you cant get in that way https://imgur.com/4DrHiiO
I've just got the deluxe edition RAGE 1 Pistol and Armor, they are so cool. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/122076478446895104/578188621119619073/20190515135154_1.jpg The BFG also rules, it's probably my favorite modern rendition of the BFG so far. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/216700/f2303063-ba05-4ef4-b97b-1cbdaca37e2d/20190514175113_1.jpg
Shame you can't upgrade the pistol, though granted it's pretty beefy already by itself. On the other hand the BFG doesn't only look good, but it's also the strongest weapon in the game.
Like the game so far except for the ungodly amount of popups every time you clear a base.
Where do you find it? Or is it a bonus for owning one of the editions?
Deluxe Edition bonus yeah. It crashes down from a meteor just outside the starting area of the game.
What, is Doomguy dropping interdimensional space gifts like some sorta Murderclaus now?
is it just me or do rage 2's graphics look weirdly terrible and plasticy and muddy?
