It's a mixed bag. Some of the environments and lighting look really stunning, while in other times they look like a generation behind, with some really flat looking lighting and stiff character models in those cases. It also doesn't help the TAA solution is pretty aggressive, with no sharpening to counteract it, really amplifying that blurry smudgy look. It looks a bit better with Chromatic Aberration, Depth of Field and Motion Blur off and turning the anti-aliasing either down to just FXAA or off if you got a high resolution/downsampling or don't mind the jaggies.
Any Heretic mapwad suggestions ? Something akin to Hordes of Chaos X or  Curse of D'sparil.
Try Faithless by Jimmy.
I've played RAGE 2 for 5+ hours and I'm enjoying it quite a bit. The reviews and some of the user impressions were a bit worrying, but so far this game is pretty much what I hoped for. Yeah, the story is nothing special, but I don't think that's the point. This game is not about getting invested in a deep narrative, it's about running around exploring and shooting shit, which I feel it does pretty damn well. The first hour or so doesn't make a very good first impression, since you have a very limited arsenal and moveset, but thankfully it doesn't take too long for things to pick up, and upgrading your stuff isn't too much of a grindy process, especially compared to something like Just Cause 3. Another thing, the world isn't very big, but it's a rather dense one. It feels like I'm encountering something around every corner. Whenever I was on the way to something I would always get distracted. The open world hasn't gotten repetitive so far, either.
For those who haven't seen it yet, Blood Fresh Supply was patched and Civvie's pretty happy about it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFUPNlfWiYg There's still some issues (caleb's death scream cuts out on certain deaths, dying while holding a lit TNT bundle makes it disappear instead of burning out the fuse and destroying your body, AI aspects are still weird AF, and possibly other small details an avid DOS player would notice), but it's a very promising patch to a botched launch.
Someone with Rage 2 and the BFG send me a save file with it unlocked? Apparently that works.
Man Rage 2 has made me realise just how flawed Valve's yes/no review system is. It's sitting at 60% but I really don't think it's representative of what people think of it based on all the steam reviews I've read.
GameSave15.sav Not the beginning since I missed the meteor initially, but I only completed a few of the starting missions. Also it's on Nightmare mode in case the difficulty level carries over on the save data, just change it on gameplay settings if you want to.
So are you just not able to use the hover boats in the swamp in Rage 2 or am I doing something wrong? They feel like they're there to be used but it's not letting me do it.
Something I wrote on twitter, I'll also post it here: I'm seriously baffled about Rage 2's scores. I've been playing this game almost non stop and never had this much fun with an open world since MGS5. This really shows that gaming scores mean NOTHING and gaming journalism means even less. I'm not saying the game is perfect, it definitely has some flaws, but it's open world is not as empty and lifeless as they make it seem. It's an open world FUNCTIONAL to the game's mechanics, again, kinda like MGS5's open world was functional to the game's stealth/action gameplay, not to mention that the main point of the game is the combat, which is something that is really easy to pick up, makes you instantly feel like a badass, while at the same time it's hard to master, but if you do it'll be extremely satisfying and rewarding and you'll feel like an unstoppable death machine. So many reviews brought up the lack of a proper story as the main negative point, are you serious? The story is not the focus here. It'd be like reviewing Doom and giving it a low score because it almost has no story. If you don't know if you should buy this game or not, especially if it's because of all those review which gave it mixed score, please buy it and trust me on this one. It is worth it.
I've been enjoying it, 8 hours of gametime so far also I keep seeing my friends name popping up in random places, does anyone know why? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/109685/5881aa1d-87a3-48d7-9924-2e2aebcea4df/548570_20190516093438_1.png
The latest RAGE 2 patch removes the Denuvo DRM form the Steam version. RAGE 2- Patch notes
Nice that they went along with their fuck up and removed it from Steam as well instead of just leaving it on. Someone's head is going to roll though, spent time and money on Denuvo only to remove it pretty much the day after release.
According to PCGW, review copies made use of the Steam version. Considering the lack of the DRM in the Beth.net version and how quickly they removed it, I have a feeling that they implemented it to prevent a pre-release crack. By the way, I'm playing the game through Beth.net, and so far I haven't encounter many issues. The client has been drastically improved since Fallout 76 (and, by extension, Quake Champions' beta especially).
It's awesome how crispy you can make GZDoom look with the right mods. https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/788605361820659763/5E50F84F4AD2B59C86F2BD6F29AE0AD6E885101A/ https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/788605361820660290/49A6E58F752EF7A78DD263DB0AAD3BD426C60E88/ https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/788605361820660863/14E79BA988F04639FEB8EEF6D41B0BB6F5D024A7/
I tried playing Death Wish in Fresh Supply and it turns out it can't play the smk+wav cutscenes? Kind of a bummer. The Weapons Mod actually works, you ought to have One Unit Whole Blood installed, put the WM files and BARF.exe from OUWB and a shortcut to DOSBox in the Fresh Supply root folder, then drag the .bat from WM onto the shortcut and it should work.
Ayyy it me. I definitely didn't die around that ecopod so I don't think it's a deathmarker. I've seen those in a few places also.
some new doom eternal gameplay appears to have popped up https://youtu.be/t8fo7JnFmWk
Hah? That's all footage from the reveal/near reveal. There's nothing new here.
this is just a compilation of footage we've already seen
oh my bad, I knew the stuff later on was old but the stuff at the start I didn't recognize
This game is honestly the most fun I've had with an FPS in a while. It's really an FPS designed by the Just Cause developers and it shows.
Aaaaand my stutters/hiccups while traveling through with the world map with a vehicle are gone for some reason.
https://youtu.be/m8NLTrOuEGY I'm having a lot of fun with it as well. Inside Gaming offers some possible reasons for the scores we're seeing
yeah they really should have had a minimap, or an optional feature to have hud markers.
There is actually a way to track chests and data pads and the like in one of the operations trees.
I've noticed increased performance in Rage 2 now they've removed Denuvo. The game doesn't stutter as much, and the loading times have been improved (Even when running on an HDD).
Honestly.... 70s aren't bad for a score. that means it's average or above average.
These days people think if it's not a 9 or 10 it's trash. It's stupid.
Welcome to the age of score inflation and "high standards", when a number of things with top scores aren't exactly mind-blowing either.
