It crashes down in a meteor as soon you drive down the road from the starting area.
yeah, had to restart the game for it to appear, good thing I wasn't too far into it. I went for hard mode this time, it's a lot more fun but authority towers feel like a trudge now. They're far too bullet spongey and the homing rockets they gain are a bitch to deal with.
Considering John Marshall's first mission is where you get the shotgun (aka one of, if not the most important weapon in nearly every Id Software FPS) and its relatively close proximity leads me to believe that the developers intended it to be one of the first things for players to do once they leave Vineland. But yeah, the story seems like it's there as an excuse to shoot shit, not that I'm complaining. It feels like even the "easier" sentries are made to be tackled later in the game. After you get abilities like the dash these fights are a lot more balanced.
Authority Towers are complete jokes even on hard. Just hide behind a pile of rubble whenever it starts firing and unload the assault rifle into them. If you get the armor piercing perk and/or the damage boost implants from the doctor you can burst them down into their next phase before they even get a chance to fire.
My first time playing through No Rest for the Living, and man is this expansion GOOD. The level design is really great, its all nicely interconnected so you get this nice flow of still hunting for keycards without the backtracking part, topped with lots of great secrets as well. All the levels look really nice too, with lots of detail crammed into every corner. Generally all the layouts remind me very much of Doom 64 too. And the carnage in these levels, like damn. In these screens underneath, I was in a situation where I picked a keycard, and the demons just kept spawning and spawning like I kicked the hornet's nest. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/398027/bc6567ec-1021-4573-a9e3-1684febc92c6/Screenshot_Doom_20190522_234959.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/398027/57175b15-5d79-4278-8c95-bdde77cc733f/Screenshot_Doom_20190522_235231.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/398027/8e030e06-7827-4b7e-94bc-3c090995e384/Screenshot_Doom_20190522_235128.png Haven't finished it yet, but so far I highly recommend it to anyone who hasn't played it yet. You're gonna get some great value out of that Doom 3: BFG edition after all.
Alright, so now I completed RAGE 2's main questline, and I gotta say, the ending... was actually kinda genius. I mean, it also helps that the game has a proper final encounter with Cross instead of the whole "press button to win" kind of thing RAGE 1 had, but the end cutscene is a rather good bait-and-switch. At first, I was like; "oh god, are they doing a non-ending again!?", because like the previous game it seemed like it would just an anti-climatic cut to black with no proper conclusion, but after the credits, the game pulls a sort of "haha got u there" and another cutscene that more effectively wraps things up plays; showing what happens afterwards with Walker cured and being congratulated by his allies, as they then all share their plans now the Authority is gone. Not only does it allow for a seamless transition into the post-game, but I love how it acts as a counterpart to RAGE 1's conclusion. Another thing, it was also rather clever for them to use clips from the first fight with Cross during Kvasir's second mission in the launch trailer instead of the actual final boss with him piloting the Titan.

Speaking of a balanced nutritious game, they re-released it: https://twitter.com/Wario64/status/1131721752826896384
Hi, I have a PC capable of running the game but I'm also wondering if it might just be nice to sit back and play on a big screen. Graphically I'm not sure how they compare but I'm more worried about how it is controller vs. keyboard + mouse. If it plays like DOOM then maybe I should get it on PC?
While yes, playing on a big screen is nice, can't deny, but KB/M is much better for shooters. I have played and completed Wolfenstein: Old Blood on PS4 once, i didn't really like playing an FPS with a controller, couldn't really stand this "slowness" feeling with it.
Honestly the sheer wonkiness of the keyboard controls have had me playing this one mostly-comfortably with a controller.
Why did they make getting on a ladder a hold action?
Once you rebind the abilities to their own separate hotkeys KB+M is the definitive way to go for on-foot sections. I don't know about vehicles, since that's probably a lot more subjective (personally they feel right to me with the keyboard), but according to PCGamingWiki you can have a controller also plugged while playing normally so that's something to keep in mind in case you have trouble with the driving. Probably to prevent people getting on them by accident.
I found a file containing the wad plus the fix for the music. How do i apply this said fix?
NRFTL should work fine with base Doom 2.
You should only need the wad without a fix. Sourceports like GZDOOM or PrBoom+ have native support for it and include the music fix for it.

i don't have the tools to decypher pls tell
Sorry if this is advertising, but I've been working on a competitive multiplayer WAD called DoomWare. As the title explains, it's a mixture of WarioWare with Doom. For those of you who have no experience with WW, it's a game where you are constantly thrown quick fire minigames with widely different goals, and the point is for you to react and adapt to them quickly in order to reach the top of the scoreboard. More information, screenshots, and video can be found in this thread. Anyway the reason I'm bringing this up is that I've been working on this WAD on and off for about 3 years now, and I recently updated it with a complete code overhaul in an attempt to improve its stability and to make adding in new features as seamless and easy as possible. The Multiplayer Doom Federation are going to be hosting an FNF event tomorrow at 5PM EDT with my WAD, and I would really appreciate participants because I want to know if this thing is stable enough and actually fun. The event will be an hour or two, and it's probably going to be hosted in more than one server as it's a WAD designed for up to 16 players. Thanks guys <3
AMID EVIL is on its final stretch before release
So finally getting around to playing Unreal. It gives me a lot of Metroid vibes with its alien world, isolation (save rare friendly natives), The Skaarj fighting a lot like space pirates, and the music being very similiar to Metroid Prime's. I'm a little disappointed there's no Metroid weapon conversion mod like there is with Doom.

I just realized that in Rage 2, once you do Dr Kvasir's mission, every ARK you open will refer to you as mister/madame president. That's a nice detail.
So I bought the paid version of Sigil. Am I supposed to get a download code in an e-mail receipt or what?
I finished Rage 2's main story after about twenty hours of dicking about. It's definitely an okay game but most of the issues I have with it, similarly to the first Rage, stem from its open world structure. Most of the hideouts and locations are boring, small and samey-looking. Driving around isn't very fun, the selection of vehicles is limited and the fact upgrades are kept to one vehicle is a puzzling decision. Bikes in particular are kind of garbage to control which is very disappointing. Combat is great but always feels like it's too short. Once the outposts are cleared and the MQ is wrapped, it really feels like you're scrounging for good content. It doesn't help that MBTV and Bounties, the two parts most evidently designed for just combat, are so underwhelming. Good reason for that imho is that mutants are by far the most boring faction to fight in the game and that's mostly what you'll be fighting in these activities. Also, the grind is definitely obnoxious. I completed the main MBTV arena on all three challenge modes and I've barely been able to buy one gun skin and all the weapon mod kits you can get out of Mutant Bash. I finished the game's main storyline and covered most of the map without finding two of the weapons. Also, the BFG, fun as it is, really feels like it shouldn't have been DLC and should have instead been a late game unlockable weapon because it's absurdly strong in a game that is already piss easy.
I liked Rage 1's driving better. Felt more funny and arcadey. I wish there was something to do with endgame feltrite because I have like 25k lying in my inventory that I can't spend anywhere.
I fucking hate it when pre-order bonuses and/or deluxe edition items make a game easier. The BFG and progress booster are the biggest reasons why I decided to stick with the standard edition and wait for the expansion to be sold separately.
Was Crash the Doomguy's military instructor?
Even with the progress booster the game feels like progression is kind of sluggish. After more than 20 hours on one save I've started to run out of worthwhile content and I'm still not done with getting all projects done. I don't even know if there is a cap to each project leader's level.
