I tried it for a bit but instead found it just not working for either function most of the time.
I disagree, I was using that up until recently and I noticed when i swapped them to different keys you can block much faster after the first parry, since it immediately parries instead of doing a feint
mordhau: 90% of the challenge is figuring out keyboard layout logistics
what is the actual benefit of binding both of them to the same key? does it change the timing somehow or do you guys like, never feint
easier to reach tbh, so many keys are used to other stuff

Whew man, getting the carving knife and mallet achievements in one match was a bitch, but hilarious with just a peasant loadout in a duel server, neck people down to half health with a pan and bash em to death with either one is such a tricky challenge but damn if it doesn't help you learn your enemies quick.
It was just for my convenience. As an ex-chivalry player, I couldn't get used to Q for feint and was always mashing right-click to feint and avoid hitting teammates and whatnot, causing me to unnecessarily parry all the time. I think I'll do both and keep feint + parry assigned to right-click for general use, and then assign parry to its own button for when I need to do some serious dedicated blocking to avoid accidentally wasting precious time on a feint.
does anyone know the annoying voice pack with the 'you're terrible!' line in it? I can't find how to say it.
Eager voice, it under Insult.
I can't tell if I'm just falling behind or what, but I feel like every person I'm duelling is a fucking spastic who is doing everything they can to manipulate the game's animations in ways they're not intended to. I just played on 3 separate servers where in each one, everyone just demolished me by doing ridiculous spins, jumping, ducking, or doing attacks where they originally pulled looked directly up and then directed their attack downwards, which is apparently impossible to block. This can't be what the devs intended.
I can happily say all these gymnastic lads don't really seem to have much affect on me. It almost makes them predictable and easier to find an opening for a well placed strike. I can understand how they can seem overwhelming but just keep your distance and those tactics don't really work. If they keep pushing up in your face with it that will just make it easier for random kicks. Just don't be obvious about it or try to kick more than once unless they really do come across as not paying attention from all the acrobatic crap. It might also be to do with the fact i'm currently using either a spear, maul or heavy hand axe as my main weapon.
I can't tell if I'm just dumb or something but I feel like the game has a bit of a depth perception issue where I'll die because I thought I was out of range of an attack so I don't parry or chamber. Either that or I'll miss because I thought I was in range but it turns out I'm not.
Yeah depending on what you are using you just have to figure out the correct play style that works for you. The best ways I'm able to play is either with long swinging weapons and doing wide drags and running around creating space or using the cleaver to go the stamina route and chambering their attacks to keep the pressure on them. There's tons of depth and half of it is mind games where people wont expect something and not know what to do or baiting people into specific actions so you can take advantage of their predictability. I have not been once fooled as of recently by wild motions and drags as you learn how to parry them quite easily or better yet punish them for not looking at you by moving to a different position out of the drag and giving yourself a free hit. I went against someone who used the training sword and would actually win by just being able to execute the bare essentials perfectly. No tricks and rarely ever feinted. Just straight stamina battle. We would chamber like over 10 times and he would win the chamber fight and get a strike in. I like to think I'm decent at chambering, but that man was a God.
The biggest thing with depth perception I think is using a weapon yourself. If you've never used a weapon and learned how far the reach is for it, it's much harder to counter it in a duel
A big thing you need to train yourself to avoid is looking at the enemy's player model instead of focusing on their weapon if you're having depth perception issues. It's easy to look at their feet and think you are a safe distance away but you really should be looking at the length of their weapon and adjusting your foot work according to that. Polearms and longer one handed weapons can have a deceptive range just because how the character holds them in an idle position compared to the reach of their fully committed attack.
I had this issue for awhile especially as some weapons just don't look like they could possibly have the reach from where the guy is standing but every time looking at my footage back the tip always lands just into the camera. I have since put loads of focus into each weapon the game has and the reach it has based on how far the player is stood from me. I have to just turn my brain off about how it looks logically to me and remember this weapon plus this distance is a hit even if my eyes tell me a different story from looking at the blade length. You also have to remember the little forward speed boost you get when swinging which in slower moving combat can easily make you think a hit wont land. It's a nightmare and your eyes and brain are always going to tell you that swing couldn't possibly reach you but you'r just going to have ignore it and remember that specific weapon will hit at that foot distance regardless of how the blade looks.
Another thing is, people can lunge by sprinting in combat and sometimes a wimpy short weapon can suddenly do some quick tippytaps to your face in the span of one swing. Watch hands, if it's a huge/slow weapon and they're not using accels - listen to grunts. It's really hard to get yourself out of a natural instinct to just parry after seeing the enemy start an attack.
I gotta say, using some of the shorter reaching weapons is super fuckin irritating with how enemies can just lean back a bit, or even worse duck and lean back, and even if you are literally physically hugging them and cant get any closer, you can not hit them in any physical way with said weapons is such bullshit
sounds like good footwork and matrixing to me
it isnt any of those, they can be standing still and just staring at me while winding up and i physically cannot make the weapons connect to them in any way even though mine is faster and should by all means be able to reach their face, but feels arbitrarily cut short
A Tribes-style announcer as they're suggesting here would be a good compromise for establishing faction personality, which is the big thing that Mordhau is missing. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1844/f48f3c3d-76d2-4681-b948-00135ede666b/image.png
I love the idea of announcers for each team yelling out commands, and the worse your team does the more annoyed they get.

Found on Reddit. https://i.redd.it/4hck4wx6mk331.png I literally thought it was a joke when one of my friends messaged me the Chivalry II page with the EGS logo; it was only funnier to learn it was actually real. The timing of its announcement with Mordhau's recent success can't be coincidental...can it?
Got on the ballista on crossroads and went 16 and 0 on the filthy horsefuckers. On a more serious tone crossroads has an identity crisis. is it a cavalry map or with how the ballistas and mortar are layed out is it a cavalry punishing map? Is it supposed to be an open map or a claustrophobic one? Should the cavalry and infantry intermingle or not? It's a map that not only is objectively bad for the infantry but also is so unsure of itself even it doesn't know what its purpose is and for some reason people like this map?
