went into a duel server and now people are abusing glitchy animations and using super high sensitivity to whip their character around so you can't see where they're attacking from.
Just like Chivalry, right guys. Fun, right. It's a whole lot of fucking fun.
If you encounter an issue like the one you just described, you ought to report it. The game has been made in such a specific that dragging shouldn't be possible beyond a certain limit.
As for the shields... I'm indifferent. It's just more risky to use them, rather than completely pointless. I concur, however, that the weapons being used at the moment is rather limited. It's frustrating to meet almost nothing but executioner's swords, mauls, and spears/halberds.
All attacks are locked once the swing has been committed to specific ranges/speeds; until you attack you're free to have a small seizure and some of the ballerina moves I've seen have actually thrown me off a few times until I got use to the specific player using them (who was often a one-trick pony - the 180 and sprinting duck u-turn seems a bit common.) Looking straight down with Messer seems common too, but is easy enough to counter.
Limiting sensitivity or uncoupling the nearly 1:1 player animations with their view are both bad moves imo. It sounds like you just wound up fighting some players familiar with the game mechanics and got trounced because it was new to you and frustratingly unusual from the normal lot you see in the game. If I was to make any change to this game, I wouldn't allow sprinting quite so soon after attacking. People who abuse this ability make short weapons like the Axe incredibly frustrating to use, and it causes a lot of pause/counter foward-sprint to make sure you catch the cheeky fuckers.
If you truly think something is broken and ruining both gameplay and realism to an extreme like Chivalry back-up attacks with the halberd or whatever, made a detailed report and communicate it to the developers who are actively trying to avoid becoming the trashy meta Chivalry was.
Some absolute madlad was going on a killstreak using a couched quarterstaff. I need to give that a try.
The quarterstaff is in no way the best weapon but people will easily underestimate you if you rock up to the frontlines with it. It's fun to dick about with if you want to try something different.
Man, the sledgehammer for peasants is like the ultimate 'Stamina-B-Gone' tool, and it's so fucking slow that it throws off peoples timing so much, it's great. Dislodges shields very nicely too
i mean, ive been playing a lot of duels and people are absolutely already doing meta trash plays with semi instant hits. im sure the devs know about it already
If your doing one handed things besides jerking off I highly recommend the buckler shield. Buckler blocks a massive amount of stamina damage and increases your parry radius.
the problem I have with it is how the damage is the same no matter how ridiculously you wiggle your view around. I mean guys turning so their weapon is just stationary in the air, then suddenly whipping it into you for full damage
or when they miss a stab attack and simply drag the already-extended weapon into your face from the side, again dealing full damage with no repercussions
in mount and blade warband, it simply takes into account the actual speed of the weapon when hit, so you deal little damage when you wiff attacks like that, but you gain damage from following through on big swings and the momentum of your footwork is accounted for
If that were the case, fights would go on too long. Dragging is a necessary thing, otherwise it would be just a stamina war.

Executioners is perhaps too good.
Ye, this I find a really valid complain. The mid section of the swing should be the full 100% damage, tailing should be a bit less and the wind up should be very minimal (50%?). I feel like the devs did not approach this as to not over-complicate the game.

This game was really fun until the usual crowd of tryhard dickweeds who have nothing to do but play this one specific game 24/7 figured out all the ways to exploit minute animation quirks to fuck you over
The most annoying thing is when someone literally turns away from you and uses that as a jumping-off point to accel you into the ground because you have no idea from which side the swing is coming from. Especially if it's a faster 2hander.
Finally unlocked the fucking Gallowglass battle axe skin, my Gallowglass class is finally complete

For some reason after trying out greatsword - I don't feel like going back to longsword. And I really like that claymore skin.

I wish arrows and bolts weren't so damn slow in this.
Who /Bardiche/ here? RISE UP!
Been giving the ranged weapons a shot, I really like the cross bow and the recurve bow but for some reason the longbow just doesn't click with me. I can consistently hit enemies with the cross bow at medium/long range same with the recurve, but as soon as I equip the longbow it's like my arrows magnetize to the back of my team mate's heads I just can't wrap my head around it.
Which is particulary annoying because when I play a ranged class I usually die by 2 things:
A. Overconfidence
B. A longbow
Seriously I'm like, one level off unlocking that helm for my own Gallowglass skin, I need it.
i gotchu fam, bardiche is a fucking killer and a half honestly
Warhammer for life. Alt mode does insane damage on heads.
Can't even use a 1 handed weapon without people getting salty these days.

Halberd main reporting in.
Refering to the earlier conversation about velocity damage, being killed by little tippy taps while wearing full plate armour is slightly annoying. Maul thrusts seem to be the worst offender of this but I think it's an animation issue (like it seems to keep doing damage even after the thrust has stopped and it just touches you.
Problem is the more systems you add for things like velocity damage the more systems there are for players to exploit.
unfortunately i've noticed the community getting progressively more toxic, i beat someone in a duel server the other day and he immediately said "lol conely u are so bad" and started killing me in the middle of duels with other people. players are getting tangibly shittier over time and it bums me the fuck out
I mean this is the same community I have yet to see let a single day go by without dropping the n word.
Makes me glad you can disable chat but wish there was a chat mute feature.
Guess I'm pretty lucky with my experiences still so far. I'm stuck on Asian servers else latency just go up the wazoo but aside from the few times Chinese players just start TK'ing everyone, most of the Japanese, Taiwanese and Korean base had been pretty pleasant and joyful to play with. Duel servers often have some pretty unconventional plays and just-made-for-fun builds which also keeps things interesting. Plus the occasional Lute concert and camping. Made some new friends along the way too.
