Do you guys think Halo Infinite is gonna be open world?
ok it's kinda silly that two months out from when they said they'd have a trial of Reach to test it, that they couldn't even say anything by E3
I have no basis for this, but I've been imaging it sort of like one of the original ideas for Halo, before it was even an Xbox game, where it was an open world guerrilla warfare game against the Covenant.
To hell with open world, not for Halo.
Says who?
Why? It could be a very fun take for the series.
What they were saying Project Scarlett could do and how Infinite would be made for that platform it does sound like it might be
Ooh, I don't know. Halo 3: ODST or Halo: Reach's New Alexandria might not be the worst examples to follow.
After so many open world games, and especially hot off the heels of RAGE 2, I have a bias against Open World. But 343 is struggling as it is trying to keep Halo for the fans while modernizing it at the same time, the last thing we need is an experimental open world shift that potentially throws out any concept of refined level and combat design in favor of driving a Warthog or Ghost for hundreds of meters on end between combat areas and objectives unless there was a metric ton of genuine warfare shit going down.
They have lots of time this time, this game will be the best it can be. A Halo game's development not having an insane crunch probably hasn't happened since ODST.
So today me and my friend had the opportunity to play the Fireteam Raven arcade game, really fun, a bit of a dollar eater but we both still really had fun and I even got the high score
no, i don't know what the final render is done on. i debugged parts of the trailer on my desktop and it ran at a completely workable framerate at 4k
you guys hiring?
I just wanna say I know nothing about the pilot, Echo 216, but I want him to stick around, I want to protect him.
I swear to god if 343 makes him get shot down by banshees and crash during the last mission
But there's one Longsword fighter still docked.
Callsign Echo? He's fucked.

Too bad the Halo 5 cover has him looking the wrong direction.
I considered it more of a displacement in rotation then following any direcrion.
While we're at it... https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58205/0602c428-6a2e-4289-977a-c0ccb1264188/Screenshot_20190610-091406_YouTube.jpg https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58205/85bdc198-d547-429b-9673-b83739c84b44/h1a-pelican-1920x1080-4ec95ac7461c49a6bb3f811fd17af27a.jpg OG Pelican is back boyos.
when i started helping with the trailer, one of the first things i did was check on the exterior of the pelican to verify it looked how it should lol
Surprisingly, it actually is the OG Pelican https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/242420/651b1355-d7b3-4397-9d58-7a67c74b212a/image.png The other models, starting in Halo 3, feature the cockpit door off to the right and have the pilot/copilot seats stacked behind each other rather than side by side. The Pelican in infinite has a significantly bigger interior than Halo CE or 2, and I'm interested to see if 343 will make it another new variant, retcon the old design or just let it be a minor continuity issue.
I always found the OG pelican a bit small tbh: it didn't seem big enough to really fit a ton of spartans / marines / ODSTs AND serve as a dropship. If we made it bigger but kept the visual styling nearly identical, I'm all for it tbh. I'm a huge Pelican fan though: it's much of what got me into the space side of aerospace, and it could even be said that it was one of the things that inspired me to follow that path at all. Currently one sits under my monitor (moved here, over a folder sheet of paper, to cover all my NDA bases lol) https://i.imgur.com/ax9DHQo.jpg
This reminds me, has anyone on the inside seen that video talking about how Gearbox's botch job of porting Halo to PC back in the day has resulted in significant graphics downgrades that persist in the MCC?
but Dustin is the only one who made it out alive!!
Here's the OG Pelican's cockpit for reference and comparison. The Infinite cockpit looks great. It makes me hope that you actually see this up close in the real game. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/135961/2c0881c9-dedb-4262-82dd-0fbe2cdedef9/image.png https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/135961/761774c2-cce7-48d4-aacf-eb1f70fc0e44/image.png
A lot of the problems were fixed in the big update. There are still problems, but they’re being held for the second big patch that adds the new progression systems.
Hang on a second, apparently the Halo 1 Pelican didn't have a cockpit model, it was just a 2D image https://cdn.instructables.com/FX8/MF0P/FRXW6QFY/FX8MF0PFRXW6QFY.LARGE.jpg And the only pictures I can find online of the Cockpit of the Halo 1 Pelican are from Halo Custom Edition, with a model that was custom made: https://www.deviantart.com/renamonmart/art/Halo-CE-Pelican-cockpit-view-130306837 I hope I'm wrong about this, because outside of using the Halo CEA cockpit (which doesn't look like the Halo 1 Pelican at all), there's a possibility that 343 have redesigned the Pelican...based on a fan model from 2005.
