In the Rocket League 2v2 league I'm in (although technically not in any more) they're doing a pentathlon style cup, so you play against another team in hoops, dropshot, snow day, rumble and a standard game) with the winner being whoever scores the most goals overall (or whoever wins the most games if goals are tied).
It's the most tense shit I've ever played honestly. We lost the hoops, dropshot and snow day games by but kept it close, leaving us on -3 goals. We then won our rumble game 5-1 giving us a +1 goal lead in the standard game.
Naturally it goes to overtime so whoever scores next wins the series.

Nordic Gaming ran a similar sort of comp here in March, it was a small pop-up style 2v2 tournament, where both teams in the bracket would face the possibility of all the extras modes plus standard.. the catch being that both teams took turns in choosing modes they wanted to eliminate (I pick rumble, they pick standard, I pick hoops, they pick dropshot, we're left with Snowday and do a Bo3)... it was actually quite fun. Got to verse Yeatzy and Ceeva in snowday. Played Standard in the losers bracket; but it was some solid comp against a few veteran GC's.
Played the next game in our cup and we did the exact opposite of the team we beat last - we won the most games but lost the whole thing due to a last second goal lol (was kind of my fault too). Pretty amazing and tense games overall though.
Dropshot 2v2 is the hardest gamemode, it's not even a debate haha.

Just joined a competitive game where we got spanked with a 3-0 lead from the other team within the first 2 minutes. We managed to get 2 in, and on the next kick off, of all things, my controller stops working just long enough to miss taking the shot and hitting it away from the goal. At this point it's 4-2 to them.
I redeem myself slightly by getting a goal, making us 4-3, and just as the clock runs out of time, we perform this miracle:

following this, I shit you not, we had a four minute overtime which might be one of the most intense and sweaty games I've ever played. Praise the lord, we scored the fifth and final winning goal, with an assist from yours truly. I've celebrated goals in this game before but this one literally made me jump out my chair fucking cheering and jumping. That was definitive rocket league.
Since when has the game had an announcer citing a countdown?
