ornafulsamee, you are now under the C category. You cannot just force yourself into the 1st placement, because you're taking a work break. Sorry.
Could I take his spot then? I'd like to be a part of this if possible unless the list is final.
OKay, I passed it off!
OKay, I passed it off!
Well then, looks like I have to get my arse in gear and start on mine (as soon as OP sends me a copy of yours at least)
Well then, looks like I have to get my arse in gear and start on mine (as soon as OP sends me a copy of yours at least)
I'm just getting a list of custom models, and maps you'll need to follow up from OneFourth. It's almost your turn! :)
OKay, I passed it off!
Do we get to see it as it's made, or do we do our part and watch it all come together at the end? [editline]27th July 2012[/editline] Dang, how complicated does it get?
When it's all put together you can see it. If some users want to upload their parts to YouTube it's their choice; although I don't recommend it. It ruins the surprise. Installing maps, and models isn't that complicated. brandonsh, I sent you your information.
brandonsh, I sent you your information.
Thanks man. By the way, does the no music rule still apply if the music is royalty free?
Thanks man. By the way, does the no music rule still apply if the music is royalty free?
I think we should keep music out of it completely.
Thanks man. By the way, does the no music rule still apply if the music is royalty free?
Yes the rule still applies. :)
I think we should keep music out of it completely.
Music is like a third of movie. Music can make or break the movie. At least allow us to use the music already in the SFM's music directory.
Music is like a third of movie. Music can make or break the movie. At least allow us to use the music already in the SFM's music directory.
No. Music will be added in editing, so there is no clipping between clips. The rule is final.
No. Music will be added in editing, so there is no clipping between clips. The rule is final.
Wait, so is there someone who is going to be doing all the editing in the end? I was under the impression there wouldn't be any music whatsoever.
Wait, so is there someone who is going to be doing all the editing in the end? I was under the impression there wouldn't be any music whatsoever.
How else would I cut all the clips together? :)
How else would I cut all the clips together? :)
I figured we'd just build on the same .dmx from start to finish, since that would allow us to understand and use the same resources and techniques as previous authors. I had temporarily forgotten the "don't send me the .dmx" under the FAQ. I'm not here to complain, just enjoy and contribute, just trying to clarify some things. We can debate the workings of this if we decide to do another Pass the Torch.
My clip is about halfway there, there are a few tricky-to-animate scenes that I'm going to do tomorrow, because it's 2AM. I should probably polish it up a little too, a few scenes look a bit rough.
I just thought of something, with all those clips, there will be a lot of brightness and render settings differences. Should look a little weird.
I just thought of something, with all those clips, there will be a lot of brightness and render settings differences. or just have people add their rendering settings to the information that gets passed along with each clip. I personally kind of DONT want to have to handle a dmx worked on by 5 people before me, and imagine the poor guy at the end, he wouldnt even be able to open it it would be so messy.
Then we all have to agree on certain render settings now before we advance further right?

If it looks odd, oh well. We'll make it better next time.
I agree
I don't see any reason to not pass the dmx around. It is the obvious solution to these issues.
I say we just see how it plays out. If it looks odd, oh well. We'll make it better next time.
At this point, it's better off we let it go around and see what the result is. We can consider modifying the rules or amending the process for Pass the Torch v2.
No point in not making this one better. Even if its too late for the first entry to be on the same dmx, these should definitely be rendered in the same way (and so for safety, by the same person). Someone should get a copy of the first dmx and any proceeding dmx files. Why not?

It might not even look that bad.
shit, my brightness may have been a bit high
People have different resolutions. You need to choose a default render or the video will switch back and forth from 1280p to a video with black bars around it or some shit. I say whatever OneFourth did we do, so what did you do OneFourth?
Let's always render at 1280 x 720. Some people don't have a monitor big enough for 1920 x 1080, everyone has a monitor big enough for 1280 x 720.
This is what I do always.. good bad idk?
