This may be a dumb idea to some of you, but does anyone feel like the finished product should be uploaded by the one of us with the most subs? That way, it gets publicity and views right off the bat and gets exposure and subscribers for those with smaller channels. People would go to a part they like, click the watermark link (or just look in the description) and subscribe to that channel. It's a win for everyone. I can't see any downside to doing that.
I would think Hornypinecone would upload it.
I've never been to concerned with subscribers or viewers, but if people wanna have the collab get popular then it's not a bad idea. Issue is though when later collabs are made, there would possibly be another creator with more subscribers than the one who previously uploaded, so the future videos might get scattered all over the place.
You could have an independent channel made for the collabs though and just have the creators make a video linking to it or something
If the host uploads the video, I think Jojje should be the host of the second PTT (Pass the Torch), and it should be an on going event where when the first one is over the next one auto starts.
If the user wants their subs to see it, make a notice video of its whereabouts, or make a video then at the end say something along the lines of "Also check out the colab I was apart of".
i've got 72 subs...

I think Jojje probably has the most.
I think Jojje probably has the most.
If he agreed to it, (which he might because he keeps expressing his excitement about this project) I would definitely get behind it. The collab would undoubtably get the most exposure on his channel, which is good for all of us.

I would agree with this. Views/Subs aren't a huge deal but a decent amount of exposure is always nice.

I'm going to be honest and say i'm a little bit aggravated with everyones doubt in my ability. Milking the popularity of Jojje is inconsiderate, and lazy. The success of this collaboration relies on all of us.
Like Uglehs said, I'd assume everyone would be advertising to their subscribers to go and watch the video, including Jojje; I feel dirty talking about him while he's not here.
I will be uploading the finished collaboration, and I will be hosting PTT 2. That's final.
I'm sorry to be so harsh, but I felt it necessary.
On a side note I will also be making various teasers, and tv spots for the final product available for download by all entrants. This way you can show something to your subscribers.
Hey man, put the gun down!
We were just discussing an idea, not demanding the video be put on his channel.
We were just saying that there's no possible way that uploading it on his channel could somehow net the video less views.
x = subscriber views
y = linked/advertised/external/related/etc views
x + y = Total views on a video
The higher x is, the more views the video will have. Alway. I can see why you would want the video on your channel, but I can't see why you wouldn't want more views on it.
That being said, it's your project so we have no choice but to let you do what you want with the video, fair enough.

What i'm trying to say is if we want the video to be successful, we have to all work together advertising the video on all of our channels. It seems lazy, inconsiderate, and outright rude to sit back and watch one person do it all.
Basically, it rustled my jimmies when your discussion became "Let Jojje do it all.".

It didn't have to be all him. Any way you look at it, no matter which angle, the video would have more views on his channel, even if we individually advertised it. But now that we've discussed it for so long it feels like it would be exploiting him, even though it would also help him. Also I do feel really weird talking about this when he's not even around to offer his thoughts.
Moving right along, what's the video going to be called on YouTube? Facepunch SFM Collab 1?
Moving right along, what's the video going to be called on YouTube? Facepunch SFM Collab 1?
Probably something along the lines of "[SFM] Pass the Torch Collaboration". I can't think of anything catchy.
Probably something along the lines of "[SFM] Pass the Torch Collaboration". I can't think of anything catchy.
I think we should put facepunch somewhere in the title. Also no SFM in brackets please, that's way too played out
i guess i could host the next one but i don't wanna steal hornypinecone's thunder so if he wants to keep doing it then so he will
anyway i recieved zach's part and all that so i'll watch it and get working on the continuation
But yeah when the collab is done and uploaded I'll be making a little announcement video telling my subscribers to watch it in any case so I guess it doesn't really matter
In that case, everyone is happy. Jojje for prez!
Dibs on PtT 3. :v:
Dibs on parts 4 through 28
Dibs on parts 4 through 28
Erasies, erasies. Dibs on PTT 2 - infinite. Locked it in my pocket, no erasies, throw away the key, and unbreakable shield. Copyrighted, trademarked, and another unbreakable shield. It's all mine! Heh heh heh...
Edit:
Anything past v3 or v5 is overkill. Sometimes you just have to let good things die. Like Doors.
Dibs on parts infinity and beyond

i may have started the bracket action.
sorry
I think after the whole thing is done you decide on a title based off the story. Dont put Colab in the title. Also I dont think this colab game will ever be overkill. people like it and we should make infinity + 1

I think it'd be worth advertising that it was a collaboration project. Anyone that sees that it was a community effort might be interested in joining and increasing the people involved and possibly the talent.
Don't need to put it in the name, but it should be prominently displayed in the credits and/or description, IMO.
I think after the whole thing is done you decide on a title based off the story.
You're a genius. We could have a early screening of sorts, by sharing an unlisted copy of the completed video to all entrants who would then post their title ideas in the comments, or I could just make one up. Either way you're a genius.
When's the due date for the film festival? Would it be worth contributing the colab if it's good?
When's the due date for the film festival? Would it be worth contributing the colab if it's good?
If you mean this source film festival then October 27th. If it's good I don't see why not, but there's no reason to.
When's the due date for the film festival? Would it be worth contributing the colab if it's good?
film festival was/is a scam i think.
i'm about to finish up here, i'm fairly happy how it turned out with the 30-ish second timeframe
film festival was/is a scam i think.
I understand a lot of the skepticism. I don't see how it can be a scam, though. Once they removed the $10 fee, there's not a lot they can do except take URLs and post themm.
i'm about to finish up here, i'm fairly happy how it turned out with the 30-ish second timeframe
Oooh goody. I can't wait to see it.
I like the speed, already almost halfway done. When you get his tell us how long all the clips are currently. 2 minutes? a bit less?
aaAAAARGGGHHH so fucking frustrating
i am literally at the final cut but my final render always has the audio at normal speed and the video superduper-fast while it's stuck at 0:00 (what the dicks)
i'll find some way of getting this damn thing to work
