Cut this out of my larger movie, so tossing it out there.
I'm not sure if it's that those models lend themselves really well to custom animations or if you're just a really good animator but that's lookin' good.
[editline]24th July 2012[/editline]
I decided to slightly modify my exquisite example of computer animation.

Posting this here early, I'll list it on YouTube when more people are awake and able to see it, so feel special.
Also, fuck YouTube's Thumbnail compression, makes that awesome shot look like shit. I wish I was a partner with real branding, instead of just ads that do jack shit for me.

Hope you submit that to the film festival, looks like it has a lot of potential. Those pants folds are bananas though.
Might as well cap this page king off with a poster.

It is in the festival, and honestly, I like the bananas pants folds :V
Anyways, here's some webspace for it http://reelinestudios.com/elements
Updated version of WIP video I started last night. Tonight I focused on the Spy's animation, and spent a lot of time working with focus and depth of field (none of which will show up in this render because I don't feel like waiting that long to be able to post it). However, it's gonna be damn sexy when it's done.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but for a video that doesn't even look that special and makes the number #1 mistake of not matching up footage & master framerate, it sure seems to take itself incredibly seriously with all those "CLEARED FOR PUBLIC RELEASE" and fancy title card with numbers and all that jazz.
It's not only ridiculous but it gives the impression you're working much more on the packaging of your stuff than what's inside that package.

I guess we should just wait and see eh? Don't get why you/he wouldn't just straight export to H.264 for a WIP though, it doesn't look THAT bad for that purpose.
I figured I could show a one minute clip from my video! It's a work in progress (especially the sound), mind!

Requesting some help

Lip sync: All I do is extract phonemes then "fix" parts that don't fit. You can see from the final result I'm not very good at it. Any tips? Is simply replacing the wrong phonemes with correct ones then adding a small transition wrong?
Dat hand: How do I make his hand crush more faster and look like he used more force without making it look robotic? I have no experience at all with animating so I'm not very good at this.
I ONLY use the graph editor for character movements and motion editor for facial expressions and lip syncing. Is this wrong?
Thanks for any help.

There's nothing wrong in using motion editor for lip sync, though it's a bad idea to use automatic lipsync, because further you use it you start noticing it recognizes sounds and music and messes lip sync really bad

It's lip sync is bad even without and music or sound effects going on; most times anyway.

Spy looks significantly better, but I honestly preferred the way the heavy's lightsaber flew up and to the left before. Don't know why you changed it. Also watch out for those grainy shadows again. You can either turn AO off or use (I think) Anti-aliasing to smooth it out into a proper shadow.

for a WIP i see no reason for the high end post rendering. It just slows stuff down when the main focus is the animation at the moment. I also agree that i liked the heavy's old saber animation. It's still coming along nicely though. Keep up the good work and dont forget to add sound for when the heavy drops his minigun.

Thanks for the feedback. I spent a lot of time on the Spy's animation which required several false starts (still a lot to learn), but I like the direction it's taking. He looks more natural. The reason I changed the Heavy's animation with pulling out the saber is because the first one had it end up in his hand upside down. :D Anyway, I'm gonna scrap that shot and redo it with a better angle and make it more dynamic.
Oh, and the render quality is crap because I turned off most of the stuff that makes it look good. It would have taken over 12 hours to render the full scene with the camera settings, so I overrode it and just banged it out so I could slap it up and go to bed. Never fear, the final results will be FAR better.
Thanks again for the feedback!

Yeah, the minigun looks like carp at the moment, that's just a proof of concept. I might work on that tonight or just exclude it from future renders until it gets some love.
If I get home in time I'll live stream my working session on the video this evening.

I know it's WIP.
But I love yo-I mean, it. Can't wait for the full thing.
So anyone here know how voids chronosphere is built? The particle is relied on having a model, but I cant find the model

Eh sorry about that, something I didn't notice before rendering. I've fixed the problem now and it should render with proper settings.
And really the only reason I put any of those fancy things are just to make it more obvious that this is only a Work In Progress video, and also to keep my own memory in check when I go back to see these videos on my hard drive. I do take it seriously either way.

Uploading this one just to get it out there, spend too much time on something im not really going anywhere with, lost inspiration on what to do so im scraping it for now.

0:03 - 0:09 could have just been still frames
This was way more trouble than it was worth. I had to jump through a ton of hoops because of missing particles and sounds.

A thing I'm making.
This video was made by MonkieJunkie, whom some of y'all may remember from ancient, ancient days on these boards. He had a Kinect Mocap setup that he was kind enough to let me help out with a few weeks ago to do some acting and test it out, and he's been hammering on this ever since.
again, not my video, but MJ doesn't come here so I shall spread this around myself.

2:28 REALLY should have been the preview image though.

i want that destroyed version of 2fort. the video was amazing, even though the animation was a little off sometimes.

Holy shit, the mocap is a little sketchy, but otherwise that's fucking incredible. Hope he submits that to the film festival.

Fucking incredible. Almost looks like an official short from valve.
I think what really sets it apart is that every character is in some sort of motion all the time. So many movies consist of mostly static characters that a movie like this really stands out.

Hm. I have a Kinect. Is the code available for this setup?
