I'm either getting better or worse.

A lot of great videos, but people tend to forget about the audio. It needs to be balanced, it requires attention and it should be of acceptable quality. The one with the Inception OST for example just messes up big time on any YT resolution setting, it sounds like ear-rape. Balancing for those who have LOUD fucking footsteps and quiet voices, etc. Attention to those without any, or barely any. Come on, it can really make a huge difference!
Skyrim is an example of which has great audio but average visuals making it way more immersible than average audio & average video. It is not all about the picture ;)

It's very hard to master sound like that inside of SFM

posted it in the Robot week thread, thought i'd put it here too. Probably going to edit it some more to add more activity into the background but for now i'm happy (mostly) with the lip syncing and the action.

depending on how you render it, the audio can either get reduced or increased

It's obviously less professional looking than the other videos here, and is funnier if you watch game grumps, but yeah.

So, I made my first movie with SFM for a midterm in my English class, based around the Salem Witch Trials.

Terrible, I know.

Blame Windows Live Movie Maker.
Oh jeez, I stopped at 0:30 no more.

Thanks in advance! :D
Okay, here is my first attempt on animation with sounds.
Far from perfect but it was fun to do.
Critics and advices are welcome.

Very well done. I would only say the hand looks a bit odd when he salutes, it should have a bit more "snapping" feel to it and the posing of the fingers.
Just keep making videos, it's the best way to get better. Otherwise very nice job :)

Finally made my second MoCap video after getting Maya plugins to work again.
Only to find out that Ipisoft studio now supports exporting as .dmx straight away... Well less of a hassle now in general.
thanks !
damn I would like to be able to do some smooth animation like this one !
mmmh as you said, practicing is the only way to improve.

Do take note that this is motion capture, so it sort of is smooth by nature and I myself atleast don't have the skill or patience to make it look so good by manual animation.
Or if you for example focus on the characters hands you can see that they sometimes twitch, which is caused by tracking gaps,
although these can usually be mended with a healthy dose of the "smooth"-preset.
I understand.
Thank you for your explaination. :)

That's a big wall of videos. And they're mostly random/tests, there's no purpose.
That thriller dance was pretty good though. Did you animate it yourself?

Yeah they are mostly random and tests, except for the slenderman one, that's my ongoing project
The thriller dance wasn't my own animation, about half was my own, the original was really really glitchy with the security guard model so I decided to grease it up and make it better
It's very hard to master sound like that inside of SFM
That is why people often do Sound Design outside of 3D Software.
And to blame Windows Movie Maker is no excuse, in the end you accepted it or otherwise you would have used less demanding music.
I'm just trying to make the average SFM'er consider audio quality more often, it is just sad how it can make a well animated video impress like shit (no offense). After all the two are highly dependent on each other. If you can, get editing software such as Sony Vegas. For those without the money and/or means to get it: I am sure that there is some interesting freeware around, have a poke around in those  (Virtual Dub anyone?)
