Decided to skip all this, considering that the phong didn't work in SFM for some reason, as the guy above me stated, I also tried it myself. I improved the lighting a bit, though.

It looks good! Is there any rain-splash particles out there?
It looks good! Is there any rain-splash particles out there?
Yup! There's probably some in the "water"-particle. I'll also be adding some Left 4 Dead 2 particles as the TF2 rain particle I found was pretty sucky.
I'm currently working on a Slender video, mind the blurry ground. I'm going to fix it later on.

Also, YouTube darkened it substantially, so you should fullscreen it.

Was this created with the 'Spring in his step' feeling in mind? The Scout seems to be almost 'jumping' instead of making the Contact pose. Also, the pelvis is moving forward at a constant rate, though this is not the same for how a person would walk in reality. The pelvis moves the most when going to the Pass Position pose and during the Contact pose. There isn't much pelvis-forward-movement when going to the Down pose and Up pose. Other than though, its pretty good for a first walk cycle.
It looks like he is running almost, his feet slide on the ground, and his back needs to be a bit more hunched, oh, and try to make smaller steps.

it may seem like a shameless bump, but i posted it on the video thread and just forgot to post it here, where it belongs.

At 0:10 it looks like you broke it into two clips for some reason, which is really the only problem I see with this.
So, I recommend making the two clips as one and begin the camera moving upwards two or three frames after engie lifts the gun off the table.

actually, i worked for the motion to be snappy and suddenly stop on that close up, because i kinda want it to be like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=8wVXnjdPkiY#t=75s
so... i think i'll leave it as it is now.
P.S. : actually, that was only one clip, and at 0:14 that shot is actually 2 clips :D(the original shot set up was made by mfreyrie and, i don't know why, but it was split, that's also why the engineer animation is a bit robotic)

If you wanted it to be "snappy" or "stopmotion-y" you should make engineer's animation throughout the entire video reflect that. From 0:12 to the end he's acting sort of casual and his motions are slow and at a constant pace, so you might want to re-evaluate everything after that first clip.
And I wasn't talking about the motion being too snappy; I was talking about the camera changing direction instantaneously, because it looks as though you separated that one clip into two by completely changing the direction and motion that camera was in, within only one frame.

nah, i didn't mean i wanted the animation to be stopmotion-ish, and didn't really understand what part you were referencing, but you meant that i changed the position of the camera, which was first at revolver height and just one frame later i changed it and put it higher, right? well, i'll try to focus on that, even though i'm not really sure how i could develop it in one single shot, i really liked the other shot's camera animation :C
WARNING: Bad voice acting and drunken Bagpipe earrape inbound.

I first had this idea back when the first SFM beta was released, but I only got a decent rig 6 months ago and it's still my first baby steps toward animation. Any input is welcome.

wip model and some tests
- three-point lighting - check
- uncompressed avi through VLC to MP4 H.264 export - could be better
- doc_revzin_modified_puppet_gamma.py on a custom model - works, check
- custom model - Rocky (wipname) - needs a PROPER mesh-to-bone reattach (or skinning or whatever it is called)

The composition and lighting in this is nice but it just feels too drawn out. There is like 3 different shots that establish the scout and femscout sitting and its unnecessary. Same goes for the intro sequence. You can establish the setting in one shot then move on.
Yeah, i fixed some stuff, tweaked the facial expressions, tell me what you think.

I screwed up the animation on the Wheatley models so they all merged into one model, rather hilarious.

It's VERY bright. Turn down your tonemapscale (but only a little bit so you don't actually get rid of the "wild west/desert" style you seem to be going for. In other words, don't wash it all out.) Make sure that the subject's lighting matches the background. Also you should back up, zoom in, and apply rule of thirds, cause how the cameras stand now, it's very unpleasant to look at. There's a whole lotta background, a little bit of subject.

It looks a lot better, but I still have a ways to go.
Here's something I've been working on. Lighting still needs some work and I need to add a bit more action and movement to the robot ripping the roof off.
