So now we have to take turns trying to reclaim the fort, and then continue.

Because this can't get any worse fffffff

Goblins came and made a blitzkrieg on the fortress. They opened fire on a shanty militia, and mowed down everyone in sight. Today over a hundred dwarves lost their lives, along with many, many children. Tantrums were thrown, tables were flipped, and battles were fought and lost.

Here's the save. Good luck on reclaiming.

Sounds like you really did everything you could to try and save it, eh? 2 lucky migrant waves. :v:
Whoah whoah wait, am I to understand there was no drawbridge at the entrance? Guys what the hell?

I tried, but I just couldn't bury all those dwarves :(

There is, and it may or may not be raised.
Good try guys, should we make a Dyewhipped v2 or should we come up with a new name?
I'm honestly up for either. A reclaim could be dicey, considering there seems to be a siege or two, but it would be fun, too.
I know that enemies are bugged atm and go passive on reclaim, but I had the idea of sending in 2 miners and an ELITE DWARVEN WARPARTY clad in the finest copper breastplates and helms with copper short swords and shields to purge the fort of the menace. They managed to fracture the leg of one goblin hammerlord, before he got pissed and killed everything.
Seeing as deviodere still won't be able to play for a while, i'll just move him to the end. If terminutter wants to, he can try and reclaim the fortress and we can start up again. Or I can compile the story into an alternative format (with all of the pictures) for archival purposes and move onto a different location/fortress. Either way, i'd keep the current turn list and put whoever requests to play at the end of that list.

That was the first thing I made, and properly hooked it up and everything, but couldn't make any further defenses as I ran out of time with such a small amount of dwarves.

The siegers are limited in numbers, the dwarves are not (AKA the times we can reclaim). They will be driven out with some patience.

Then I must start again, bringing the finest steel my 1300 embark points can buy!
And I'll use the BBC news theme as some kind of apocalyptic rave to send my dorfs into battle.
Fuck, slashy the slasher just got eviscerated by a troll, though his warband did take down an estimated 15 mooks + a troll.
If anyone's good with water, they could try flooding the place and drowning them all.
I might give a few more dwarven ambush parties a try.
Just commencing the ultimate dwarven crossbow party - 7 proficient archers and proficient crossbowmen armed with 7 copper crossbows and 200 copper bolts :v:
Failed horribly, I only killed 20 goblins between 4 sorties, I'll give up for now, if someone else wants to reclaim.
Keep reclaiming , document the carnage. Once we win, make engravings to tell the stories to our children.
Daaaaaaamn
I don't recommend reclaiming, it's buggy. We should just start a new fort.

Was a glorious end to the fort.
I'm gonna try visiting the dead fort in Adventure mode.
Will be away until April 1st, I wish you all luck

As Orkel said, 50 reclaims are going to break something. Just start a new one.

Also can I be bumped up a one or two spots in the turn list? I've got full schedule at Uni until Friday so I won't be able to do much these three days.
<snip>
Put the guys who didn't get to play this time, near the top of the list of the next succession game. So Terminutter does first year etc
Wouldn't like to be near the bottom twice in a row, waiting for a fort that dies early :x
I'll probably start it later today, currently got some weird insomnia thing.
Right, back now that it's not 2am. Going to generate a new world - I would have liked to use the current world, but I've had a good looksie, and can't find an inspiring spot. (either a volcano, interesting landmark or a good old haunted / terrifying biome that satisfies curiosity which I'd be able to survive the first year in - the current world seems to exist mainly of biomes with a single type of metal deep, and one shallow. We want metals)
Thoughts?

My main issue is no flux, a single biome and 5x4. The volcano a few world tiles below would need a 6x4 to get a brook with it, and is pretty much the same.
If you've got any adv world parameters you'd rather have, submit 'em or upload a world and we could use that instead.
I'll stay on hold until we have plans set up for what sort of fort we want, I don't want to do something too dull or too fun that ends too early for us.
I completely lost track of where this thread was. I see the save I uploaded was used, and the fort really did end how I imagined it. There was in fact a drawbridge, but it was over a walled off 1z pit. At the siege start, two trolls broke through the bottom portion and escaped into the huge hall.
A rush of dwarves cleaning themselves after I had opened the bridge led us to all those casualties, and a delay let two other trolls into the fort. I was working on breaching the magma chamber to flood the surface, but I realize now it would have seeped into the bridge.
Hypnotoad died some point after the initial rush, and his spot was taken by the female mayor above.
For another fort, flux can usually be found in sedimentary layers along with other metals in that area, I'm pretty sure it's bugged on the world screen and only depicts veins, not the presence of larger layers of the stuff.
Well whereever we embark, I want to be able to construct an Obsidian forge. I wanna be able to create infinite obsidian... Love the stuff. Wish we could do more with it.
There's a new version out, so we could always start with the new one, especially if Orkel has an updated balance fix.
I'm a bit intimidated by starting a succession, so if anyone wants to gen a world and take the first year, I'll join.
So guys, what are we going to do? Shall I just gen a big world with a medium amount of history and go for it?
Maybe we should wait until the minecarts come out, shouldn't take long now
