I'm sorry about not getting this stuff taken care of tonight.
I'm actually not at home. I went to class at 4:30 so I would be there for start at 5. Made it there early- nice, sunny day. Sat in class and shot the shit with my Mon-Wed class professor who was there that day. We live in the same small town. Tonight's class was the astronomy lab, which is run by a student, and my MW class is the astronomy class, and so he was in tonight. Class is on the top floor of the oldest building on campus.
People begin getting there and the school texts us all that there's a tornado watch, out of nowhere. Sure enough, far to the west, a storm's a brewin. Dark clouds. People were joking about it and whatnot, about a tornado coming by and class getting cancelled. Everyone else gets there, it's determined that things are gonna get worse. We all head downstairs to the first floor, and since we have no computers there to do the work, we just talked about politics and whatnot. 2 hours in, it's hailing, raining like hell, thunder and lighting like the end of the world.
Three tornadoes- west, north, and south of the city my class is in. One swoops clean through my town, heavily damages the are that my professor lives in, which is just 2 roads north of my apartment complex. My mom and dogs left town and took shelter at my aunt's house (where I am now) about 15 minutes away. Not any better for the weather, but most of the house is below ground (It's weird).
About 7:30, most the class has left and the four of us- the professor, myself, and two girls int he class- wait for a low in the rainfall and make a run to the parking lot. The farther west towards home I got, the better, but roads were bad and I saw a car on the opposite side of the highway slam into the divider. It got pretty slow because parts of crashes and police/fire blockage.
Making it into town, it's clear that things are bad there, still. I know my mom is at home, so that's where I intend to go. Dark, thick clouds, lighting. Can't see more than a couple feet infront of you because it's so fucking dark. I get off the highway and onto the main road heading into town, that my apartment complex is directly off of. Half way up, traffic stops in the direction we're going. No power in the area, no phone signal. People are still heading the opposite way, and people start backing up and turning around.
I get to my turn, but it's blockaded- two police vehicles on both sides of the street into the complex and a car blocking the road, with a cop directing everyone to go left. I try to explain that I live in the apartments, but he tells me, "Nope, gotta keep going. Nobody there, town's closed, can't go into town. Gotta keep going, we're evacuating."
I was kinda freaked out- I didn't know how my family is doing, it was extremely dark, like nothing I've ever been in, and now they're blocking off the entire town and evacuating. I'm forced to go down the road they're directing traffic through. I don't quite know where I am but I make my way to a main road and from there get myself to my aunt's. I was able to get a hold of my family, but power's out and last estimate says 11:30 (1.5 hours) before it's back up. I don't know if the town is still blocked or not, but I'm going to try and get home now. Either way, I won't have any updates until tomorrow.

100 houses were destroyed in town, I need to email my professor and make sure his wasn't one of them. I don't know when exactly, but sometime after 2:30 we got power back. I didn't sleep well at all, even though I went to sleep at midnight, which is relatively early.
Did get some reading in, though. Nothing like a bit of horror in the middle of the night in the darkest dark you've ever been in, reading by phone-light.

No, my house is fine.
I just spent a few hours at the restaurant my aunt and mom are working at today (packed, too. Everyone whose house was fucked up was eating there). It's a road north of here, and half the parking lot is taped up and filled with private and state clean up and maintenance vehicles.

Surprisingly not a single person was killed or seriously injured in the whole thing. We got early warnings to take shelter so everything's good, cept damage.

Tornadoes aside, I have no idea what all these piles of resources mean. I didn't explicitly state that my home planet has hydrogen, lumber, rare earth metals, and other stuff despite the glaringly obvious fact that it does (or should) have those, since my planet is essentially a magnified IRL Poland. I don't know how that's gonna affect me in the long run.
Is there a list of resources and their affects? Or what kinds of planets they are found on? If so, I can amend my first catalog, and use that to help me finish constructing the second one.

Basically, you need various resources to produce things. Metals are best for that. But you can make tech or things based off of whatever resources you have if you research it.
Fissile materials and uranium are good for powering fission-based tech. Hydrogen and helium can be used and converted to fuel for fusion-based tech.
Some special resources, like tiberium, elerium, and the like are usable as weapons and fuels and stuff with their fancy properties.
there's no acutal gauge as to how much you have, just over-producing tends to run you into shortages.
Hm. Okay. Well, I'm not so much concerned about gameplay as I am about how fitting certain materials are for certain planets. I don't, for example, want to put water on a lava world. I suppose I will look on the other sheets, determine which planet is most like my own, and then utilize their materials for the catalog listing.
Am I supposed to make my own catalogs or are you? TBH I am having more fun making planets and the like than I am pondering space taxes and space politics.

I make the catalogs and me and Vosk decide the planets and resources.
Honestly, if you want to make catalogs, I'd be happy to hand over part of the burden to you for other players'. Some players' systems aren't specified, and if that's the case, feel free to give suggestions/throw things together. As long as it isn't y'know, out of whack or anything.

TBH if I were running a galaxy campaign I would run it in a very small globular cluster, containing less than a hundred or so stars, and I'd have all the star systems made up beforehand.
As an example of what I need, I might have to know just what "tier 1" means, and what kind of planets have what kind of materials (waterworld has water, obviously, but what about uranium? is metal typically there? etc.) for your game purposes.
