But middle has the biggest concentration of spider whores. Just tossing that out there.
Also friendly tip then : If you want easier life get to the right side of the map, cause on the left there are 3 major factions, 2 on the center (one of them me) and on the right its a lot of free space to expand. Also it's kinda quit there, as 2 of the systems are abandoned there and only sol are rapidly expanding.
Also you should know that Grox (me) are at war with verans, on the terrans systems there are civilian war, vandurans are npcs now, and Hyperkins are dealing with the thing. That is the situation.
First contact's going to be really interesting for this race; since they're basically semi-mobile crystals, I imagine they communicate using vibrations and resonance. In other words, they might interpret your race's incessant vibrating communication/electrical equipment as gibberish or screaming :v:
Thing is that makes me wonder how they fight, use technology, etc.
Maybe they telekinetically toss themselves and impale others? Or turn into Humanoid Crystals?
I think I got an idea worked out for how they'll "properly" begin using technology and such; the construction of exoskeletons in a style similar to the Ceph in Crysis, only instead of a squishy alien core it's a Silicoid shard operating the vehicle/exoskeleton based on electrical impulses/vibrations coming from it's many tendrils.
Aka this:

Controls a robotic shell similar to this:

Or maybe because they find minerals/metals delicious, they prefer using organic substances for building materials. In essence reversing the traditional minerals = building materials with plants/animals = food concept. This in turn would limit the amount of worlds I could settle effectively, since some could be safe for the colonists themselves but not for their shells.
Wait a minute, a friendly and helpful conversation in this thread? There's something amiss
*See's Ven's banned* OF COURSE!
Big floppy question though; since I'm coming in at like turn 15-20, what is the whole situation concerning technology? Do I start with the opportunity to advance rapidly, just start off gimped from everyone else and fight to get into the race?
You're more or less Gimped. You need to focus on expanding at a decent pace and at keeping your population stable (Not expanding too fast or too slow, for example, that can lead to a civil war or unrest.). The first thing you should focus on is potentially using Crystal forms for possible tech. Or FTL drives whichever.
You start out with Fusion-Engines and basic projectile weaponry for starter tech along with Fighters and Corvettes ships. You can gain tech via turns (With luck) or through alliances and tech sharing

You start off gimped, but if you do tech trades then you'll catch up fine.
My race is full of artists and shit, if something as unique as your race flew by, you'd be damn near worshipped.

(The 1st turn will be in introductory turn, stating each civilization and how they came to be.)
Does this still apply for newer arrivals? I got a nifty idea concerning how my species came into the galactic scene. Anyway, I'll be working out the rest and finish it by tomorrow.

Mostly no. I include your description and shit, but not how Vosk did.
I would really like to ask that the giant mean looking crystal guys don't start anywhere near Earth.
Thank you.

The Tsa'Mal (name subject to change,) now available in Cherry Red and Apple Green!
Also don't worry, I won't be putting these guys anywhere near civilized space.
Sorry about the late turn. I'm taking tomorrow morning off from school, so it will definitely be out tomorrow.
No problem. By the way, in retrospect, my acid weapons are hsit. There's not enough pressure in space for chemical reaction to occur properly. It's pretty much just a smokescreen now :v:
Maybe if you put the acid into bullets and accelerated them, sorta like a Gauss Weapon system or something, it would be effective.
Should I post a turn in if I just recently turned in my info to join?
You have to submit your first turn with your race's info to seed.

Bring the pressure/atmosphere with the round; have a soft shell lined with a pressurized, adhesive membrane that contains both the chemicals and the ideal mixture of atmospheric conditions for the reaction to occur.

Getting right on that now.
The membrane would need to burst on one side only on impact. Maybe a needle-like bullet with a point that would enter the hull but split on impact, causing the acid to be exposed to the hull and to the pressure gases only.
Y'all are gonna like this turn.
[editline]21st April 2012[/editline]
But I'm going to have to put it off for a bit longer. I'll have it done for certain tonight.
[editline]21st April 2012[/editline]
It's 50% done, minus map.

Grox is dead? :v:
I bet it has absolutely nothing to do with the arrival of a new galactic plague.
Nothing at all.
I'll pick it up tomorrow. Sorry.
GaW will be suspended until Tuesday, May 1st, 2012. Thank you.
Why
Why
Because I don't have time to work on it until then. It's a week and a day, you'll survive.
I'm not saying I won't survive I just wanted to know why.
So, Startard, Overprat, and EternalLamez you can all bugger off.
-SNIP because I don't want to derail the thread, nor do I want Ven Kaeo to do so.-
