Earthcraft: Build and compete with other factions on the planet Earth.

One last thing, while I do apologize, Ateam was a bunch of fucks. Pokerchamp, I don't apologize to you guys, I behaved childish in the face of children. I'll learn to handle you guys maturely by kicking the shit out of you in PVP. So I apologize for banning you, but I'm glad I got you all mad.

Actually in Bosnia, but it's all the same shit.
Hmm, I had a feeling he had "/f chatspy" on. I mean, this guy hid himself from the server list to attack us, and when we started talking about him on faction chat, he instantly reacted. Using administrator plugins and faction administrative commands to your advantage.
1) So what if we attacked Cuba first? This is a factions server. Being restricted to who and when we can attack is rather counter-productive to the ultimate goal of factions. "Trolling" is just a way of saying, "oh no, they attacked us and they better have a reason why!" when you shouldn't even have to give a reason in the first place.
2) You came at us using admin tools, like hiding your self in chat and those mysterious teleports all over the place. I can't exactly say that was fair even if we did win in the defense. Can I get those same commands bro? Maybe a teleport home, but you had teleport points back and forth.
3) We didn't claim this as a defense. You went to us and attempted to kill us twice dude. You died the first time, you died the second time. What makes us think you won't try again? A-Team asked for an alliance which we accepted. What made us think you wouldn't stop? You can't claim that "beat up a guy in a park" legalism trick. You attacked us, we attacked you. Even if A-Team wasn't going to be with us, we would have done it the same way, just with less swarms.
4) So what? I have played factions over one year now. One day an empire named Ironhorde, and ten of them was coming against my nation Imperium. When they arrived, they were all decked out in iron armor (this was about 1.5 and diamonds weren't widely abundant as they are now) It was just me and Killerrobot defending against this massive army of ten. I was in a similar position as you. They blasted a hole in the castle walls, but I didn't cry about how unfair that was just because a huge, huge force was upon me now. Instead, I fought back, and I killed every one of them. Part of winning the battle is tactics. I used the on-faction land defense shield to my advantage. You could have as well. Instead, you sat there and demanded we leave.
5) I see you have updated your list, 3 hours ago at the time of composing this, displaying the top four, but you might as well remove Zertopia and A-Team, do you really thing we will be coming back? I mean, we are banned after all.
6) Wouldn't that be a more fair display of organization? You put your faction at the top. That seems rather biased don't you think?
7) I take this as a general attack geared towards A-Team? Why didn't you just just jump lava where they logged off? Why didn't you make a nasty trap from them to come back? And what if they were the most hated people on the server? Go hunt "terrorism", form alliances based on their and our threat.
8) He was making some very, very good points about your ability to administrate your own server. You silenced him because you did not want to respond to him. Dictatorships do that. I can already see where this is going.
9) I can agree with you using this to prevent people from repeatedly killing you while you gave your speech and I can agree you did not use this as a method of attack upon us.
10) Can you explain this point to me. I'm curious to know what exactly happened.
11) Fair play? The one who was using admin tools. The chatspy and the hide yourself from server list. Explain yourself.
12) Good, you agree that what you did there was unjust. Now I only hope that your future judgements won't be as flawed.
13) I have to question if you are the one who is angry. Your past posts show hints of anger and frustration. I'm just sitting back having fun here. Your responses are very amusing!
14) And you had to use your powers to do so. Very, very sad.
15) "If ten men come up to you, use admin to defeat them (It's just a video game!)"
Oh yes, and I apologize for the lateness of my responses. I do more than just Minecraft and talking about servers on Facepunch all day. I don't like to hastily post my messages. I like to revise them rather than spewing stuff out. That paragraph essay-review I wrote about you are my true, and logical feelings towards your server in the day I have spent. I don't want to rush such a precious thing as a user review. People read that you know?
Okay last thing. I never used any admin commands to give me an edge over you guys. What happened all happened fair grounds, anything you saw was minecraft buggin you or lag. I don't even know what you mean by teleporting around and the only act of abuse I have committed is banning you guys after I got my jimmies all rustled, but nothing else was used against you. If I really wanted to cheat, I would be spawning myself full enchanted dimmond armor and god moding. I've been trying to keep fair play, I just let my temper get a hold of me and I overreacted to something that really isn't a big deal.
You really like to iterate that I was using admin "tools" and chatspy. Neither of which I used or even know about. The only reason I know about you and Ateam is because people were lagging and I was checking console for errors, as I do frequently. Please don't try and say I was cheating in any way because that is an outright lie.
One word.
Popillil.
I'm getting a lot of hate for what I did, it seems that it is in the best interest of the server population to tone down my admin use and instate rules that aren't vague. However, Earthcraft will be gone for a long time. I am 3000 miles away from my home computer and I'm taking a vacation in Serbia, it went down for some reason and I'm away from my pc to return it up. I'll be in Serbia for another 40 days so that is eta until the server is up. I realize I acted childish and pissed lots of regular members off, perhaps this time gone will allow me to rethink my behavior and chill out from the server for a while. While being away from minecraft and the server altogether I've thought and I realize I haven't been fair with many of you. After hosting servers for a long time and dealing with them on my own I've adopted a sort of "I don't give a fuck" attitude towards the playerbase and I should behave in a manner that makes them want to play here. I hope this vacation in my homeland will give me some time to get away from gaming and enjoy everything else I've been missing. I apologize to everybody for being a dick and acting unfairly. Playing minecraft all day and dealing with the server made me weary. When I come back, hopefully we can get a real earthcraft v2 and learn some better management. I also realize many will criticize me for apologizing right now, because it seems I am only apologizing to regain any players I've lost. I am apologizing because I'm generally sorry for the issues and the poor management of my server. I hope you can all forgive me.
[editline]8th June 2012[/editline]
This was the map I used first, it's the old one without biomes and what not.
While it wasn't fair of me to behave like an asshole to you guys, I don't see the fairness in somebody taking all that I've worked for and taking money from you. I would sure appreciate donations, but that means I'd have to worry about a steady flow of cash every month to keep it up for all of you. A reason why I don't ask for donations is the lag does NOT come from the host, it's bugged plugins and errors from minecraft and bukkit that overload it.Especially since 1.3 comes out soon, there'll be more issues than ever with plugins needing updating, bukkit needing updating, etc. While he can promise you lag free earthcraft, it'll be long way there with configuration and especially map conversion and editing.
It's simply infuriating to see all your hard work to be taken and then even be monetized by somebody else. What I would be okay with is the server is hosted for the time that I am gone, and then is returned back into my hands when I return. I would be more than happy to send all my configurations, user inventories, maps, buildings, etc to the host so he could avoid the hassle of doing it himself if he agrees to this. I honestly don't believe he could do it all from scratch, it took me 24+ hours for just the map.
I myself appreciate the apology, Dankie, but that doesn't change the fact that you busted your credibility and trustworthiness, along with efficiency of hosting in your run. The server lagged pretty horribly in waves and the entire design and gameplay was a total mess, it had no visible point or goal and it was basically tedious anarchy and melodrama everywhere!
I don't like how you're telling me off as a money-laundering asshole when I asked for optional donations if people felt up to it; nobody has to donate!
By the way, you can rest assured that I can "pull this off" because I organized a development team, and we completed the map in under 3 hours compared to your 24 hours. Efficient, huh?
On a final note, the choice really lies in whether the players want to go back to your abusive mess of a server or an organized and enjoyable faction server with economy and goals! I experienced your server firsthand - and it was a mess, let me tell you that again.
When the time comes that you're back and you have a server up, i'm not sure that your old playerbase is going to go back. My leadership is solid and my determination in the server is strong; people have even said before I did anything that they feel that my version is going to be marvelous! You're welcome to come to mine once it is in full gear, but don't expect to have any special benefits. If anything sounded mean or audacious I apologize, but there isn't any way to tiptoe around this.
I'll visit yours when it comes up.
the server banner is now being finished and i'll be launching it soon
the spawn has to be set in stone and I need to add the worldborders, make sure all the plugins work correctly then construct the OP

If you could post the server IP here as soon as it is ready, that would be grand. We wouldn't have to wait for you to make the OP etc. before we started playing it.

im offended
youre getting banned for national discrimination
kreten ima da te prebijem
But yeah I'll gladly play on the new server when it's up, provided the map is un-fucked (And I think it will be, this guy looks trustworthy)
I'd love the new server. As long as it holds at least similar things to this server, but i'm sure i'd still love it even if it didn't.
You know dankie, i would really love to join your server again, i really do. But you banned my two BEST members who built my base from the ground up, im sorry but im still not coming...but still. Good luck with your restart.
In 1 day me and the rest of the A-Team were able to claim all of Tasmania, find diamonds (in literally seconds), put up defenses around our barrier, build up a strong enough army, and raid other nations.
in day 2, we raided Macedonia and pillaged the land, fending off a literal equivalent of the United Nations. claimed a good portion of the land for the A-Team, then attacked SPQR, doing little damage (i dont know how to make a cannon, since iv never needed to use one before), yet claiming some good diamond loot. we were then approached by zertopia, who wanted to join forces with us and do battle with yugoslavia. we were down with that, since yugo declared war with us.
we kill the leader, then are pretty much told "thats not how Earth works, give me back my stuff or il ban you".
so with that, we messed with greenturds for a while, and committed a collective seppuku, moving to a fairer server.
what im saying is, you guys dont really understand how factions work.
you all want some fair system where everyone wants to work together and trade and be merry.
well that is honestly not how the world works. A-Team and Zertopia didnt want to play by some unspoken rule that "no fun is allowed", so we started doing some damage.
you people had no walls, no defenses, and no initiative to actually gain back what you lost. you just grew angry and cried on the forum about how unfair it all was to you and how the A-Team should be lynched.
we expected a real fight, maybe even an attack on our land, but no. you guys were content with being passive and just hating on us.
id say that what you guys did and how you dealt with us is pathetic, but that is to kind of a word.
now let me point this out again.
we did not sit here and continue this for weeks on end, mercilessly hammering upon your land in search of Dimmons.
we did this in 2 days.
this server is so pointlessly flawed and one sided that it took 2 days for someone to get so butthurt that they would ban us over diamonds you can literally trip over by the dozen. and by us i mean a good 10 people who made up the server and actually gave it some excitement.
we operated well within the laws of the game, never using hacks and only working with what we had.
you have md Disguise on? well, we will use it then.
your PTP system allows a whole army to transport to one scout? well, alright then, we'll use that
you can teleport away from a whole mob of your enemies and still leave the land you left intact? well alright champ, whatever you say!
the only thing flawed about this server is the idea that "everyone should operate the same or we'll sure as hell look for a way to ban them", the wide range of pointless plugins that give power to the already powerful, and the admin (who has a long history of abuse) who thought combining all this was a premo idea.
Don't shift the blame on The A-team or zertopia. you were your own undoing.
tl;dr bob's cat died and he is hosting a funeral this friday. You are all invited.

My only thing was I didn't know MD was on (And thankfully it won't be on in the new server), Naniwa built almost entirely underground and we were pretty decently defended.
I don't get why people don't start underground anyways on SMP servers. It's harder for people to see some stairs hidden under a tree (Which is what it was at first before we started building a bit above-ground) than a big wooden house, and it's a hell of a lot easier to defend too. I think just for defensive purposes against TNT cannons we'll specifically be doing a high security chute with water at the bottom.
we expected a real fight, maybe even an attack on our land, but no. you guys were content with being passive and just hating on us.
You didn't want a fight, you just wanted to win, hence choosing weak opponents. Most of your opponents were completely oblivious to how Factions works and were building above ground before even erecting walls. Whenever the fight came to you, you ran away. Examples include when you were on Japan and when you attacked SPQR.
and by us i mean a good 10 people who made up the server and actually gave it some excitement.
Maybe you would provide a modicum of excitement if you weren't acting like angsty children the entire time. There's a reason everyone hates your infantile ATeam; and it's not because you were waging war. We did that too yet we weren't the subject of hate.
we operated well within the laws of the game, never using hacks and only working with what we had.

The server configuration was completely broken and everyone playing knew this, if only by the mineral frequencies. There was nothing stopping you from say, not using MobDisguise when you knew your opponent had no idea what it was (such as versus Okinawa) to increase the fun for both parties involved. But again, you weren't looking for a fun experience, you just wanted to win, no matter how low you had to steep.
Don't shift the blame on The A-team or zertopia. you were your own undoing.
I quite liked Zertopia myself, as they were generally civil in chat and were clearly just playing within the rules, apparently with no aim to cause as much grief as possible to their newbie adversaries.
The ATeam, on the other hand, were all around assholes. I must remind you that there is no animosity from us due to being raided or conquered by you; because our faction was never hurt by you, despite Pokerchamp's rogue efforts.
We dislike you because you never looked for a fight despite being a militarily capable faction, and most of all because you were utterly obnoxious in chat. Don't make this situation look like it's not your own fault.
I myself appreciate the apology, Dankie, but that doesn't change the fact that you busted your credibility and trustworthiness, along with efficiency of hosting in your run. Okay lets get some shit straight Shakken.
I didnt call you a money laundering asshole, you are indeed asking for donations, which is the definition of monetization. I didnt use this in bad context, I was simply pointing it out.
I also didnt insult you when I said I didnt think you could pull it off, I was simply explaining the difficulty that I went through doing so and that someone coming in inexperienced may have difficulty with.
Shakken, you may have a group of people cheering you on for something that sounds great, but EarthCraft has had a loyal playergroup because it was fun. What you called disorganized and chaotic my peers enjoyed and it was set up that way for a reason. Now, of course my abuse and my actions on the server were game breaking, and I have apologized accordingly. But please dont think that because you have determination and a following that your server will succeed, because youre dead wrong.
I put a lot of work into this server, for little reward but the satisfaction of my playerbase. My actions have more or less destroyed what I worked for. I cant believe that one of my players is stealing all that ive worked for, but Im not that worried about it anyway.
When you say people believe it will be marvelous, I had hundreds, literally hundreds, telling me the same thing as soon as they tried the dragontravel. Adding and removing stuff and figuring out everything about how the server works has made me way experienced in what works and what doesnt.
You can advertise your server as the greatest thing on earth but all you can do is relearn everything ive taught myself over the course of its uptime.
For now, ill enjoy myself in the balkans while you figure the ins and outs of how this works, and when I come back, we will see how your server works out and where youll be in a month.
PS, The lag is bukkit errors, not the host. I think ive said this at least 4 times in this thread.

let me just stop you right there, because when you say "your server won't succeed, you're dead wrong"?
it's funny that you have the audacity to even say that, because I probably have a plethora more of experience you do with handling communities and that doesn't even factor in that I don't just do minecraft server hosting.
you're twisting this into making me look like "the train that could", when in reality i'm actually a more professional and smarter fit for the job than you are, so please think before you speak
by the way, i'm not going to use the tainted name of "earthcraft", so rest assured i'm not going to copy you in any way besides using an earth map that we revised, not you!

in essence, you are not one to give me hosting advice or philosophy when i'm the one who should be giving you some because I have probably been in the field longer than you have, and I am one for the community; not making myself an omniscient god who strikes down his foes with admin commands

It's a server name, dude. I have literally never heard of a server trademarking its name, particularly not a tiny server with a total playerbase of about 50-60 people run on somebody's home computer.
Anyway, it's the name you're copyrighting and not the concept. I don't think the concept even is copyrightable.

At this point though, I agree with Metallics that you're both starting to become a bit annoying arguing with each other. I personally prefer a server owner that recognizes when he's stooping to another's immaturity and just doesn't get involved; you want to preserve your reputation, that's how you do it.
Regardless, in hopes of ending all of these antics, here are the facts as I understand them for newcomers to this thread as well as those who haven't been staying up to date because of all this drama:
- Earthcraft (this one) is out of commission for at least the next 40 days.
- Insane516 has a team working on a new server/map that will be based upon and improve upon the intended Earthcraft experience.
Now, not that I have any say over what you all decide to do, but I would suggest that those of us who came to Earthcraft for the experience of having civilizations on an actual Earth map simply wait for a new thread to pop up in this section with Insane516 as the author, as he has stated that he will do so when it is ready. If you're dedicated to this server, then check back in about a month and some change when Dankie gets back from being out of town.
This drama should really stop though; it's not doing anyone any good.

how I react to scenario's like the one above is usually by the means of not getting involved, however I only fear that people won't make decisions for themselves and they will listen to the moot junk and false merit that he is spitting out - the only way to really see if my fear can be erased is if people like you respond, and as for such you can rest assured that I am the host that you "prefer". so, thanks!
on a lighter note, once everything is complete (i.e finishing touches to the map, double-checking plugins, creating the spawn and testing out economy formats) the OP will be made and everyone can go over there for more information.
Okay lets get some shit straight Shakken.
I didnt call you a money laundering asshole, you are indeed asking for donations, which is the definition of monetization. I didnt use this in bad context, I was simply pointing it out.
Just on this point alone, I'd like to point out the server he's going to be using will cost 50 bucks a month.

i must once again point out that we all started off on the same day, "undeveloped", and we visited japan on the same day that we established our own base. we both were, in theory, equally matched.
and the player's choice on using the plugins given to them should not reflect on the player, but the admin who allowed such a ludicrous plugin to exist in the server.
the PTP plugin was just as bad as the MDdisquise, and it was used server-wide.
i think a plugin that allows an entire faction to teleport to a single person is more damaging then one that lets you turn into a chicken.
yes, the A-Team favored an unfair advantage, but you can not deny the fact that we stayed well within the laws of the game. the faction's personal preferences on how to do battle are completely irrelevant. whats relevant is how we carried it out. we were all underdeveloped, and the A-Team decided to start off by invading other countries.
if you guys thought ahead, you would not have complained about how we preyed on smaller nations, and banded together to take us out.
and retreating isn't bad if you know you will lose. we were on the offensive. we didnt risk being on the defensive when behind enemy lines. and once again, we used the PTP system to teleport back to safety.
yes, we sperged out once in japan, and that was a dick move, but that action should not be used against us as a "this happened once and so they're comparable to satan for eternity" argument.
