Earthcraft: Build and compete with other factions on the planet Earth. - Games

So far, the map is being implemented and all the plugins are installed, and the server banner is complete and we're probably going to be launching tomorrow, but I have a question for all of you. Earthcraft was total anarchy, and some of you may like that. However, my motives are to implement a system where players can work towards economical and social victories, in contrast to constant militaristic war and drama, so physical war would be a more uncommon scenario. It would promote interstate and outerstate trade, a longer and more enjoyable experience for everyone, and a streamlined economy with lots of fun features and paths that you can take to decide what you want to do on the server! I also heard from an anonymous source that everyone besides a few factions tended to work together and established organized trade, so I feel this would work out quite nicely with the community! In essence, there would be three archetypes of factions [B]Economical[/B], which would be a faction that specializes in producing a specific resource or even being a jack of all trades. They would make a lot of money, and they could supply social or militaristic factions in their own goals! Economical factions should have organized and efficient supply lines, mines, and trade routes - you'd be colonizing earth in no time! [B]Militaristic[/B], which would be your brute force faction that specializes in protection and should usually be a branch of an economical or social faction. We're trying to avoid everyone being a militaristic, anarchic faction here, so a more in-depth design is going to be explained in the thread that will be released soon. [B]Social[/B], which would be neither economical or militaristic in a black and white viewpoint. Social factions would be townspeople and builders, people for hire like architects and the like. They're pretty much citizens of their own villages or cities, really! There can easily be hybrids of the three main archetypes, however it is emphasized that you choose one that fits your playstyle and correlates with colonizing the entire earth in harmony with the constant wetworks and issues that come with big business. All of the three types of factions should work together in their own unions and commonwealths, which will make actual "factions" a sub-type of the commonwealth or nation you belong to. That'll be interesting! With all of this in mind, the best choice for this would to be use [I][B]Towny[/B][/I], [I][B]rather than Factions. Be aware, that Towny does not take away from the original Faction experience![/B][/I] Some of you may have issues with Towny, but we're going to configure it greatly and make sure getting the money for plots of land and so on will not be a very tedious and stressful situation. After all, Towny is much more well-coded and is going to provide a much more fun and immersive experience for everyone, as opposed to total melodramatic anarchy. Give me your opinions, and consider the direction I want to go in! I guarantee it will be fun. [B]As for the map changes[/B], we have added specific biomes to each region that fit their real-life counterpart, and there are MANY more mountains which have snow peaks. A lot of huge mountains are going to have sort of a tundra on top of them, because they're above 110 Y! [B]As for plugins[/B], we're getting all of the essentials like Towny and Chestshop, along with teritary things like Bookworm and such. If anyone wants a full plugin list, ask me! We've been working on this for about 14 hours straight in order to get this done as soon as possible, so keep that in mind! [B]On a side note[/B], we're still deciding the official name for the server. Personally I was thinking "Criminalis", a Latin take that can be interpreted to the corruption and wetworks of big business, however I feel it was too far fetched and the feelings it evoked leaned more towards anarchy and evil than organized trade and colonization of the world. This is also not going to be the only plugins that will be installed, so expect for plugins to be tested and scored by the players in the future. In the event that the players would prefer the barebones faction experience, whether or not they want to attempt the interstate-outerstate trade and economical and social ideals that I would like to implement, then I will listen to the majority and do that. Though, my ideals cannot be enforced correctly without Towny, so it will be up to all of you to make it less of a total anarchy experience, so you would be depending upon the community, yourselves. The outcome would be a more organized and well-ran earth-based experience with top-notch hosting and administration, along with our own custom-edited map! We spent 5 hours pinpointing the biome regions with a physical map of earth, and we made sure everything was geographically accurate. So, it is your choice folks! In the event that Towny doesn't work out well due to my discretion or the community's, we can always revert back to the barebones experiences with all the plugins that I will augment the experience with - I will still attempt to emphasize the economical and social victories that can be achieved with factions to implore less of a total-anarchy experience. Guys, Dankie knows he made a mistake and he's about to pay for it with the cost of (basically) the entire playerbase of his server. I elect to stop posting about him/directing posts at him at all and just concentrate on being excited about Insane's upcoming server. MobDisguise was not, it only helped you grief, really. I tried using it as a sort of "sneak onto base then undisguise" tool, but it still didn't feel right. Of course, the degree of which this rule applies is not stated and thus this point is arguable, but if you'd ask players who the biggest douchebag on the server was, we'd probably end up with a majority naming Pokerchamp. Secondly, you were clearly breaking the rule against ganging up on weaker factions. You even admitted that just now in the text I'm quoting. Thirdly, the "laws of the game" were broken. There was nothing stopping you from using your own head and figuring out how to play responsibly, but you didn't. In fact, you're making it seem like you were some sort of loved and cherished figure of earthcraft (lol) who's been stripped of power and is, in a final attempt to tarnish the reputation of his adversary, smearing shit all over the walls and going out of his way to be a complete and total asshole. Shakken isn't trying to gain a profit or an advantage, here - not over our affection nor over funds (in fact, I'm happy to give 5 bucks here and there to a server I love - Minecraft or otherwise). If anything, he'll gain enough donations to just support the server costs he has to pay in order to run the new server from a REPUTABLE host, as opposed to the cinderblock that you seemed to deem suitable for upholding a 20-man server. As soon as everybody hears your glittering words they jump at the option. SO what do we have here, we have shakken, the man who craves attention, but isn't smart enough to do it himself. So he has YOU pay for the server and YOU develop the server while HE takes the credit. Shakken, you want to keep showing off your big guns 'Look at me, I'm taking the big bad admin down'. You're just loving all the attention, you love to use your big euphemisms and colorful words to advertise your server. From what I've seen from you shakken, I see a relatively unintelligent attention craving man who has a slightely advanced vocabulary and likes to flaunt it. I was mad, admittedly, that you stole my ideas, but now I've got you figured out. Post more smilies, conceal the fact that you are steaming within. You're steaming, and soon you'll boil over. These are the first signs of a coward and a bad leader. You've all seen it, I told shakken my frustration with him making his new server, and he took this as offensive.
