Germany has recovered from conflict well. The 30 years war, the Napoleonic Wars, and both World Wars come to mind. Within a few decades (or even years) Germany started rebounding pretty quickly. Compare to say the former USSR, which hasn't recovered in many aspects to how it was in 1913 under the Tsar (agricultural production for instance, has yet to recover).

But I meant Germanys massive industries. The only major industries Germany really has left is the chemical and automobile industry. [editline]2nd April 2014[/editline] And metals and steels*
well tbf the russians pretty much salted their own lands when they retreated from the germans, very little if anything can grow there now
Stuff very well can grow there now, the thing is that most of the breadbasket of Russia that they salted isn't actually Russia anymore. Germany got torched during WW2 as well.
Yes, but russia can in no way sustain its massive population, food wise, on its own is what im trying to say
Russias population is only about 142,000,000. The US is 318,000,000.
Russias population is only about 142,000,000. The US is 318,000,000.
yes, but US soil is incredibly more fertile than russian soil, we do sfter all supply a third of the worlds' food.
I'm taking over as Italy. I'm going to focus on a space programme and attempt to get working satellites and a man in space. Anyone want to ally up and help? Maybe we can co-opt an International Space Station

I wonder if anyone has plans to stop or halt the great depression

I can START working on it dude. V2 Rockets and shit. I didn't say I was gonna be like "BAM, MOON" but I can work towards it. Technology is a fluid thing. Just because it didn't happen in 1920 in our world doesn't mean it couldn't have happened in 1920 in an alternate dimension with enough funding.
I wonder if anyone has plans to stop or halt the great depression
Im already working on it, illegalizing buying on margin, introducing a moderate trade policy, starting mass production, and soon buying out germany will help me to say the least, dunno bought you lot

How affected by The Great Depression was Italy? My early 1900's history is not very good I thought it was pretty much confined to Germany and the United States
How affected by The Great Depression was Italy? Shit. Well I have like 8-10 years to start combating this before it actually hits. Hopefully I can keep it from happening.
Shit. Well I have like 8-10 years to start combating this before it actually hits. Hopefully I can keep it from happening.
TBH while you might limit the impact to yourself, you gotta get pretty much the whole western world on board or else you're absolutely fucked.
The stock market crash can't be stopped without you somehow stopping people from doing stupid business practices. You could just ban the business practices, but then the businesses will just leave your country and suddenly you're hit with an economic bust anyway.
The answer is this:

I propose the League of Nations hold a vote to ban the practice of it, that way at least not all the world is fucked
Even if that was totally true, the only way to have the LoN approve it is if every nation in it voted for. Most of the nations are NPCs, and the NPCs have no reason to believe this is going to cause a crash.

Lol no they won't. One of the biggest reasons the league failed is because they had absolutely no authority. The only way to enforce it is an invasion, which is so hilariously dumb that it'd just cause it to disband.
