-With the army having pulled back and fortified in Arizona, a peace treaty is eventually signed with the British, whom are ceded California. With the treaty in force, the Mexican army reorganises and makes a bloody push on Texas against the USA.
-Cotton mills are being established for the first time in Mexico, although the poor manufacturing base, poor availability of capital and high completion means that very few mills are commercially viable.
-The rubber band and paper clip are introduced in Mexico, and a few craft workshops are established to manufacture them both.
-Work begins into making rapid fire anti-infantry weapons. It is decided the obvious starting point will be grapeshot cannon and revolvers, to see what can be used.
-The economy begins to slow in collapsing, now that trade embargoes are being slowly lifted, and trade can gradually commence. Fears over the war and the dictatorship means that further progress is difficult. The collapse of the Mexican army in Texas finally destroys all that, and foreign investors are quick to pull out.
-The Mexican army is finally smashed in Texas, and forced to pull back. The American army (with German assistance) has managed to push south of the Rio Grande, and is making a march on the capital. Some members of government are suggesting to sue for peace.

-Prussia sends more reinforcements and supplies to the USA, to assist in the war with Mexico.
-Schleswig-Holstein is asked what it can do for the German states. The committee responds by saying they will assist in all military affairs and be open to a full economic union. Denmark categorically states that were they to join Prussia, they would declare war.
-Saxony goes bankrupt, triggering a minor financial crisis. The Prussian state agrees to take on the debts in return for letting Prussia take over control of the Saxon postal system, railways, military and foreign affairs. Several other states throughout Germany begin to concede the importance of Prussia (excepting South Germany). A vote is held on a final union of the entire railway system of Germany, to be run in the Prussian manner.
-An addendum to the telegraph law now establishes station boxes, standardized flags, timetables, connections and the regulation of the staff. It is unanimously adopted by every German state, and shortly afterwards some of their debt and financial control is given to Prussia. The increasing dependence on Prussia is forcing many of the German states to gradually cede power to the unwritten superior.
-With the establishment of the Danubian federation, Bavaria begins an internal debate about joining Prussia or the Federation.
-A vulcanized rubber sample is used to coat a wheel. It seems to work somewhat well at reducing bumps slightly, and a small chemist lab manages to coat the wheels of a stagecoach with it.
-The existing ten hour law is amended to create a larger department to manage it. Increasing from 4 national inspectors to 8, they also have several powers when inspecting, and can recruit assistants to aid. Corruption exists here and there however, and most business owners are just let off with fines. However, the law is finally starting to have its desired effect.
-The police force is now gradually integrating with government departments, as the ten hour law is now requiring a fair deal of cooperation between the varying levels of government.
-A senior minister in the department of economic affairs is caught in a scandal where a policy to be announced is pulled at the last minute. He is forced to invent a policy at a conference to justify calling out the major newspapers, and unwittingly blames the Junkers for the slow work in government.

-With Britain now holding Mexico, the American army, with heavy German assistance, manages to rout the Mexicans nearby Houston. After that, they begin a steady march on the capital, intending to finish the war for good. The annexation of Texas seems to be a suitable goal to be pressed for in the treaty.
-Spending on the navy is significantly reduced, as the war with Mexico begins to wind down. Most vessels are sent to patrol the shipping lanes to prevent acts of piracy or illegal slave trading.
-Texas is admitted into the union as a state, that is, once the treaty with Mexico is signed.
-A small sample of Prussian rubber is brought over, which has been noted to have been vulcanized. This new treatment is considered to be advantageous to making rubber for multiple uses, without it melting in the heat or shattering in the cold.
-The economy begins to gradually recover as the war seems to be strongly in American favour. Investors seem confident once more.

-The Egyptian army marches on Constantinople, and the peace terms are finally given.
-The Ottoman Empire will surrender to Egypt, relinquishing control of the army to the new upstart Kingdom of Egypt. As of now, the Ottoman Empire has ceased to exist.
-Noticing that some form of factory regulation is requiring, a 12 hour day is established, with rather loose loopholes around the law. Still, the inspectors manage to prevent the worst excesses and even manage to fine a factory owner for beating up one of his staff.
-Generous subsidies are given out to industrialists to help assist with the establishment of machine tool factories, and slowly, they begin to help reduce Egyptian dependence on foreign imports. The lower production costs are somewhat helpful in making them competitive with Europe.
-Grants are also given out to assist with the establishment of law schools and engineering schools, to help in the expansion of the new professional class whom are quickly becoming more dominant in Egypt.
-An engineering school manages to introduce a standard for screws, called the Emir standard. With encouragement from the government, all machines and tools in the country are slowly adopting the Emir standard.
-The absorbing of the Ottoman Empire will be quite a challenge for the Kingdom, given that it faces a large degree of hostility for having done so. Various ethnic and religious groups are a thorn, alongside the groups demanding an establishment of a parliamentary system with a fairly large franchise.

-Consolidation of the Indian states proceeds fruitfully, minus the constant riots needing to be quelled by the local dragoons and more and more Indian rulers becoming increasingly hostile towards the excellent foreign policy of Britain.
-The British Empire lays claim to the Bosphorus, although the Kingdom of Egypt has already claimed it for itself.
-In another stunning feat of military organization and strategic planning, the Congo is invaded by the British Army. Half of the invasion force dies of malaria before being pushed back to a tiny fort bordering the Portuguese colonies. The war minister resigns along with the foreign minister, prompting a cabinet reshuffle as the British government loses confidence.
-The fort in the Congo does poorly, relying on economic aid from London to keep it going.
-The army is pulled out of Japan, and diplomatic ties severed. The war also ends with Mexico, Britain clinging onto California. The British merchants in Japan and the British faction in Japan are understandably annoyed.
-A new type of rifle is invented, which utilizes a revolving barrel in order to let off multiple shot.
-Research begins into the miasma theory of disease, which this year has been dealt a severe blow by an experiment, whereby doctors who conducted autopsies were seen to spread a disease from the corpse to another patient by accident. Washing the hands in chlorinated lime water is effective at halting the disease spreading, although the theory is not widely accepted.
-Due to failing British foreign policy and the troubles in India, the economy is going into a downturn.
-At least the British manage to annex Cyprus though.

-The Polish state of the Danubian federation incorporates Krakow, creating a slightly bigger Poland.
-Other than maintaining a small standing army for defensive purposes, along with a reserve force, nothing new occurs with regards to the army.
-The Polish state has no idea about anything that is currently happening in terms of European affairs, and tries to remain neutral in ongoing conflicts and discussions as a result.
-Jerry the Plant Pot is made a national symbol in the Polish state to represent the moving of Polish immigrants to Venezuela via plant pots, and to represent the plant pots valiant sacrifice.

-A statement is made that the Denmarks National Klasse Alliance is not only a threat to Danish stability, but also to Scandinavian stability. The party is seen as a public enemy under SNR law, and consequently banned. The police go around looking for party members, but find to their dismay they all reside in Denmark.
-The government declares that “The State funds business to build factories to create more home goods to increase the living conditions.” Given that nobody knew what this meant, they decide that subsidies to the timber, iron and coal industries will be in order.
-At a massive blow to laissez faire proponents, child labour laws are implemented, with no child under the age of 13 to work outside of a family's private property. Children from the ages 13-18 are not allowed to take up life threatening jobs. Farmers and cottage industries find this law especially helpful, allowing them to retain their cheap labour.
-Boarding Schools are now implemented in Stockholm and Oslo and provide shelter and food for many children. Although not universally covering, they are an excellent initiative. Religious schools and charitable ones ask for grants to assist them with educating children.

-The colonization of Borneo is completed, and the colony integrated into the Kingdom.
-The king installs mandatory education in military schools for non-serfs from 6 to 18, covering everything from arts to the sciences, and at 18 every thai male must spend 5 years in the army. The army policy is considerably unpopular.
-Cambodia is forced to sign a treaty with the Kingdom, stipulating that they must ensure free trade between the two countries. Whilst applauded by Liberals as a triumph for free trade, in practice it results in Cambodia importing all their manufactured goods from them.
-The Prussian Kaiser is sent a bill for the Geisha, amounting to the Prussian Gross Domestic Product. Per thrust.
-Caving into non-existent British pressure, the state now allows opium to be sold. However, the state must buy it and sell it on behalf of the people, and cunningly decides to export it on the cheap instead of selling it for domestic use. British merchants do not seem to care as long as they make a profit. Wine and rice is sold to the British in return.
-The first railway is built in Borneo, using a costly imported engine from Germany.
-Artillery begins to be imported from Europe, and breechloader designs are also brought over. Setting up factories to construct these guns on a large scale is a challenge however.
-The clearing of vegetation, and digging of drainage, has started to reduce malaria rates gradually in Borneo to roughly 20%.

-The military staff of the Kingdom now regularly shares military information with all member states of the Danubian federation. Universities also exchange students and lecturers now, helping to spread new intellectual, scientific or technological innovations.
-All the Balkan states are encouraged to sign neutrality pacts with each other, and all refuse.
-Serbia and Greece are asked that in order to settle the conflict, Montenegro and Macedonia would be created as independent states, with a border being drawn up to show the new map. Both are willing to see such a map and are somewhat lukewarm towards such an idea, but do not confirm they will support it.
-Food, weapons and supplies are given to the Balkan states, who seem surprised that the Kingdom is arming their militaries.
-A meeting is held in Prague, where many of the leaders of the Slavic states come together and talk about possible ways to help the Danubian Federation and its neighbour, the North German Federation.
-The Czech state is now also a patron of the arts, particularly with regards to composers, whom enjoy the support given to help create music.
-The final improvements to existing low and high pressure steam engines are done throughout the country, and factories are starting to finally produce them in sufficient quantities for Czech needs.
-A factory for producing medical equipment is established in Prague, along with anaesthetics and various other medical supplies. Originally intended for military use, it also supplies civilian hospitals as well.

-The revolver based rifle is improved upon, attempting to make it more reliable and easier to handle, instead of manually having to feed new rounds in, the idea of a replaceable revolver mechanism is brought up, and so new rounds can quickly be replaced. Despite it increasing the rate of fire, it is of poor reliability and jams regularly.
-After a great deal of scouting and surveying, a colonial expedition is sent to Western Africa, in an attempt to set up a new colonial province south of Western Sahara named "New Barcelona." They succeed in establishing the mission of Mujeres flojas.
-A Ministry of Economic Affairs is set up in Madrid to plan, regulate, and provide funds and support to jump-start the Spanish economy, mostly to heavy industry. The government also steps in to regulate the large number of ad-hoc railway systems that have sprung up across the country, they give plans where the railroads will link up, and set regulations, such as the size and materials used to these railroad companies.
-Research begins into updating the aging Spanish fleet, with steamships looked into, as well as weapon platforms, rather than the standard broadside weaponry that was used before. Work into increasing the size of the revolver so as to apply it to artillery fails due to various engineering problems however.
-A hurricane hits Spain this year, causing a great deal of cost to life and economic assets.

-Demobilization of the army is finally completed, and in other news, a new rifle is now given to sharpshooters in the French army, being a substantial improvement over the old rifle.
-Each division of the army is assigned a sharpshooter who is to use the new long barrelled rifle. These men are ordered to target high ranking officers in the enemies’ military, so as to aid in spreading panic and disorganization.
-These new skirmishers are nicknamed snipers, with most of them being former poachers, hunters and gamekeepers who displayed skill at shooting the snipe bird.
-Subsidies are given to farmers and mine owners, so as to encourage them to increase production. Some factories are also built for the manufacture of the new “sniper” rifles.
-The USA and the United Kingdom are asked to sign a white peace with France. The North German Federation is also asked if they wish to sign a general trade agreement. This acknowledgement of a unified Germany rather than multiple states is a sign that the federation is centralizing foreign policy.
-Farms owners are assured that railways will not cause the cattle to fall ill, although they do complain about the noise and it spoiling the milk.

-The party continues to hold demonstrations, although they test the patience of the Danish police, who arrest many members and force them to re-evaluate their position.
-The party tries to appeal towards the middle class by explaining to them that immediate revolt is preferable, and will end the tyranny of the monarchy, granting them greater economic security and cultural freedom. Additionally, they support the Schesweig-Holstein independence movement, and join them in calling for an independent German state there. The party is also heavily supportive of the military. The parties support of an independent Schesweig-Holstein is not very favourable among the Danish people however.
-Despite having support from many parts of society, the party fails to attain a strong enough power base to be taken seriously by the Danish government, whom decides this year to pass a legal reform lifting restrictions on the press.
-Community aid programs expand with support from the party, helping the lowly and destitute to get some of their basic needs. The problem however, is that due to little legal recognition they suffer immensely in spreading this concept. The moderate wing of the party says that legal recognition and lobbying the government to legalise trade unions and to protect friendly societies/Co-operative movements would be beneficial.
-Despite setbacks, the community outreach program is slowly growing, and illegal weapons are being smuggled around. Building the weapons themselves is difficult however, and all too often they have to be hidden or are confiscated.

-Brazilian engineers work on a new project developing a rifle in which uses a central hammer in a metal casing rather than having it offset. Small minie-ball bullets are then fed down the "magazine" and chambered by a repeating lever. The whole process is designed to eliminate reloading times. It is a rather flimsy weapon with parts not easily replaceable however.
-The whole military is reorganized. New divisions are created and a large Recruitment campaign is established. A large iron warship is also planned, although nothing comes of it yet.
-Steel helmets are introduced into the military to protect the head from shrapnel. The khukri is also now issued to soldiers, although generals argue that these improvements will not give any tangible improvement. Manufacturing them is costly as well.
-An official Navy is established, although consisting of nothing much more than a few outdated cutters, a cruiser, an old disabled Man of War and a small fleet of trade ships. A shipyard is bought in order to help increase production of said trading ships.
-Trading treaties are signed with Argentina and Peru-Bolivia.
-Construction of infrastructure is underway, with roads, railways, and telegraph wires laid down. Gradually, an ad hoc development of infrastructure is noted.
-To aid in this, the forests of Brazil are declared to be free game, and are now open to systematic clearing. Farmland, mines and infrastructure shall be constructed in the cleared land, and the timber exported.
-Ports are now also being expanded and dredged, to make room for larger ships and to create room for new shipyards.
-The immigration policies of America are adopted now, encouraging the mass immigration of people from abroad. Slowly but surely, Germans, Polish, Irish and all other sorts of people are coming here to make a new home.
-The Government goes on a broad campaign of encouraging all the people in villages to move into larger cities and areas of importance, as well as to send their children to schools to receive an important education. They don’t really do this, seeing little incentive in doing so. Those that do move to the cities don’t send their children to school, until the government establishes public schooling.
-The education system is looked into, with massive reforms carried out. Schools are now to open across the nation, teaching basic reading, writing, arithmetic, Spanish, and some (distorted) History. Heavy Brazilian Nationalistic views are taught in the school as well as Militarism.
-These reforms and initiatives are immensely costly, racking up some considerable debt, but the benefits are starting to show as foreign investment arrives along with immigrants and imported machinery.
-Malaria rates temporarily increase due to the clearing of forest and new farmlands close to existing urban areas, mainly due to the massive restrictions put on people for clearing land.
-A town of former runaway slaves is discovered. As it turns out, these forests are full of former runaway slaves and natives who built up considerable towns. On the map, these areas are marked as “blank”.

The US high command orders a mass retreat and both military's link up and form a defensive line across the occupied territories to regroup and refit.
