I did the same thing but the way I did it attracted more people. The title was a fake support title and once they looked it seemed like a guy just asking people to join his server.

You are seriously going to say you did not basically say "No, it's better the way it is!" ? You are ignoring all the helpful criticism and finding ways to criticize the person who is giving you it in a terrible way. Sure, you are calm but the thing is that you are acting like a child. So, here is a really nice and helpful way to make the server better:
1. Get a forum. I cannot stress this enough. Using the forum will help with ban/unban requests, admin applications, news, and announcements. People generally wont be assed to try and be unbanned from your server by adding you or another admin. With the tons of TTT servers around people will generally just skip your server.
2. Remove the Jihad Bomb. It's as cheap of a kill as stabbing someone with a non 1-hit kill knife and them turning around and shooting you. There are much better ways to kill a large group of people that would provide a more interesting kill. A 10 minute C4 in a crowd, mowing down the crowd with various weapons, ect.
3. Make a rules list. Even if you dont want a MOTD to show at the start, make a notification that shows in chat every 2-3 minutes with a link to the rules. Sure, people should know the all around rules but a rules list is good practise.
4. Now, I have not played the server and I plan to later today once I fix an issue with mine, but don't go overboard with custom weapons. If you could quickly snap a pic of the Traitor and Detective store, that would be nice. Having way too many custom weapons will generally have the same effect as the AK47 and M16 from CS:S has. People will find a item that is good for everything and use it 24/7.

2. The jihad is not leaving, our players have made it clear they enjoy it.
3. We are working on a more creative way of displaying the rules to new users, it should be done in the week.

Sure, people might enjoy it, but it eventually takes away the true meaning and style of TTT - to play with your friends and deceive using the (already balanced) equipment available. Sure, adding an instant-kill knife always causes some lulz, but the jihad is way too overpowered. Perhaps you can find a way to balance it and maybe people on facepunch may enjoy it if they give it a chance.

The blast done by our jihad is smaller then the stock swep. The only person I know that has criticized it and has actually seen it to be able to judge it over power is SoSicklyAwesome, but he likes to make things up so I don't find his opinion as weighted.
You should come join up, play a bit then give us some tips.
