(Anyone who wants to visit, just use the /spawn command and take the track straight up to craftington. To make things fun I've hidden signs all over craftington in buildings, outside, and behind stuff that say random things. Kinda fun if you ask me)

Sounds like an unlucky run, or someone griefed the torches on it. I have never seen a zombie on the tracks ever.
EDIT: Just checked, the torches aren't missing. There were leftover carts on it though. Not much we can do about that. Any alternate path would require walking, so you can either ride, or walk the subway if it's damaged.
I've seen a zombie on the tracks once too, there is a section where there is a gap of darkness between torches and a zombie spawned there once
