The Facepunch Dwarf Fortress Succession Game - V1: Spawn of Meinhammar

Look at all the fucking farmers and useless dwarves we have.
Get the militia organized into at least 3 real military squads. Fully armored and trained in the best danger rooms available. At this point we can afford to lose a few dwarves to training accidents. Even if their relatives get sad from their death, a few gold statues can solve that in a jiffy.
Please do this person11. I will love you. 5ever.
I am using Blu-scale colors. It's been interesting to say the least. I am going to actually get to playing soon... as soon as I figure out what the fuck is going on. I may reread all the reports since the beginning.
Is there any work anybody wants finished?
The A.R.M.O.K, if possible.
I still don't understand what ARMOK is...
The final solution
Yeah I have no idea what this thing is after looking at it. Also the fort extends about 128 levels. I think I will try moving everything down or something. Will update with something eventually.
[editline]7th January 2013[/editline]
Prologue:
Dear Diary:
I am lucky to be alive. I was finally caught in the Adamantine Bed with the mountainhome's queen. As the king called upon the guards to grab me before I could even put my marble decorated spiked skunk leather underwear on, she said "Not again!". That offended me a bit. The guards immediately put the hammer to my head, but the King has a better idea, apparently. He told them to stop hammering me, only after a few bones were broken, and sent me on this caravan to a new colony of rejects. Am I really lucky to be alive?
Day 1:
I see the fort, but there is a giant trench keeping me and the retards from getting to it. It seems the group of people the King forced me into was the mentally ill of dwarven society. I guess the King is a Eugenicist? Anyway, it looks like the fort keepers are going to try getting us across the trench.
Day 11:
Just when I had finished the last of our food, the bridge across the trench was completed. I eager ran across it, towards what I thought was civilization. It took me about 15 minutes to realize that none of the retards had followed me. Eh, I am sure they will learn the ways of bridge crossing soon enough. I was more concerned about getting inside the fort, the smell of the open pit of corpses was starting to annoy me.
Day 12:
This place is a mess. There are animals and children everywhere, and people barely have clothes to wear. There is plenty of material wealth, but it seems concentrated to the few wealthy leaders of this place. At least there is plenty of food and drink.
The layout of the fort seems organic, as if many different designers were unleashed upon it, one after the other. The stairs go down 128 levels, straight to the magma seas, where there is apparently a second fort! They offered me a walking tour of the place, but I decided I did not want to die of exhaustion.
Day 13:
After a day of resting, I reported in to start working. If I spend the rest of my life here as an exile, might as well make the best of it! As the mayor looked at my paperwork, he started laughing maniacally. He ripped is clothes off while screaming that he was finally free. He ran out of the fort and was never seen again. I peered over the desk and looked at my paperwork.
It said "Sentenced to lead Treatywhispers for 1 year for Treason against the Mountainhome"
I wish I were dead.
Spring Report, Part 1:
7th of Granite:
I have surveyed the entire fort, from top to bottom. It took a week, and I have lost a few pounds and gained a few blisters in the process. The place is in worse condition than I thought. Not to say that the place is not beautiful: there are masterful engravings on every stone surface of this place, as if some lunatic wanted to kill the smoothers and engravers living in the fort. The place looks great, but has no structure.
I have a plan.
Still the 7th of Granite:
Something terrible has happened. As soon as I laid out my orders of moving the top production rooms to the bottom part of the fort, time almost stopped. Everything is moving at a snails pace.

I have ordered all the useless animals wandering around butchered. We will have many years supply of bone and meat, and time should start to speed up after the lengthy process of killing all of them.

My other plans include fixing unemployment: hopefully going from a rate of 7% to 0%. I have introduced an ambitious Jobs Bill for the nobility to sign into law shortly. Hopefully it will work. I will also have to note that are three children who have legendary skills that cannot be allocated yet. Someone will have to remember to do that when they grow up (Whoreismouth, Uselesstit, Buttmad). I guess they were possessed or something? This fort is quite strange. There must be some strange influence here. I have heard rumors of ghosts toppling statues over, and of Adamantine here... I better bury those bodies.

TAGGER CONTROL YOUR FUCKING BABY AND STOP TELLING ME ABOUT IT. The reports of this fucking baby go on for pages and pages.
16th of Granite:
Reduced the number of idle workers from 15 to 4. They are probably lazy fucking babies. This job is really stressful. People keep asking me what to do about ARMOK and other projects of the late leaders of this fort, and I have to tell them I have no idea what they are talking about. I recently found the diaries of the slow decent to madness of the past leaders. I will start to read up on it, in order to continue their insane, yet glorious work.
Killing the animals will only create more delicious parts to clog up your framerate.
Also I thought I had dealt with almost all of the ghosts. How many do we have atm?
I am hoping to let the dwarves eat as much meat as possible and make as much bone crafts as possible with the animals as well. I assume that the frame rate will drop while the animals are being killed and used, but then go higher than 9 after that?
Also, there are some baby ghosts that are very destructive. Not too many of them, but they seem to be doing damage. I'll have the rest of Spring done soon.
Find dwarves with no relations in the fort, or other whole families with no relations to others except each other.
Give them a warm magma bath.
Reap the FPS boost.
Going to draft a lot of them. 200 is just way too many dwarves. Update tonight or tomorrow morning.
Person11 what setup are you running?
Just out of curiosity
DF is taking one of my six cores in its entirety (AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition, 3.5 Ghz), and one gig out of four gigs of RAM.
It should not be running this badly. I am convinced it is purely clutter in the fort, and not my hardware.

Of course, they'll be replaced pretty quickly, unless we're over the population cap somehow now.

Should we lower the pop cap? For the sake of FPS?
Continued Spring Report:
The Rest of Granite god fucking damn it:
Progress on the butchery is slow so far and having little effect on how slow things are. While waiting, I have ordered coffins and basic furniture made for planned expansions of the fort. I have also reduced immigration by choosing a bunch of nationalist and populists from the Treatywhispers Independence Party as prominent members of the fort's elite to 150 instead of 200.
What I did not mention was that I plan to draft 30 of them into a poorly armed with people's militia,

Just a tip, you might wanna get more RAM.
not sure if it will help DF though.

What else did you think the ARMOK was for?
I AM IN THE SECOND MONTH AND IT HAS BEEN HOURS.
The game has speeded up to a blistering 13fps.
I have had it with these stupidly named dwarves cluttering up and slowing down this fort. Here is my plan:
1. Make more squads: 40 soldiers is not enough.
2. Get rid of all non essential animals: this is going to cause some lag as the butcher slowly massacres the hundreds of animals running around the fort, but it needs to be done.
3. Move the entirety of the fort into the underfort, besides some farms and graves.
4. Make a gigantic great hall and kitchen and statue garden/hall of remembrance, in three large (but not too large) rooms.
5. Create a new and larger production center and stockpile for all crafts and furniture.
6. And kill everyone with lava, as soon as I can get this blasted mechanism to work. From what I have gathered from reading previous reports, there are a great many things in the deeps of this fort that I am not yet aware of. Is ARMOK finished? Is it easy to use?

Time to die. Beast. At least in a few years when the frames advance enough to that point.
[editline]10th January 2013[/editline]
Maybe the RAGING WATERS will quell this beasts wrath.
[editline]10th January 2013[/editline]
Tagger has been looking for her baby for so long that she died of thirst. Mother of the year.
[editline]10th January 2013[/editline]
Spring is finally over. Nothing much has happened besides the mass moving of goods and furniture down to the deep. The gigantic blob of flame refuses to move, and my soldiers refuse to go find it. I have a terrible feeling that it will show up when we least expect it and burn everything down.
The ARMOK isn't finished, but it is fairly close to being done.
It's a kind of magma pump, but with next to no lag.
Using the bloodthirstiest of armok's creatures, minecarts.
Though if you're in the underfort, you can re-direct it fairly easily.
also, you now see why my turn took so long.
When's the next update coming?
I am about to start writing up Summer. Things have been busy as I have been getting ready for school, sorry.
[editline]13th January 2013[/editline]
Summer Report:
1st of Hematite
Summer began as Spring ended: boring and slow, with a fiery ball of death somewhere in the caves, waiting. Why can't it just show up so we can kill it or have a merciful painful fiery death?

Reports keep on coming to me that it is just sitting there, burning everything around it. My 40 condemn- I mean conscripts are either unable to or too afraid to go confront it, so I have them training for now.
2nd of Hemadite
Like last season, I may just plan everything ahead in the first couple of agonizingly slow days, and then drink myself into a stupor in my room (the main hall is being moved very slowly to the underfort - there will be a lot more room, and engravings).
4th of Hemadite
Elves have shown up, wanting to trade anything we have made that is not made of dead things. Since we ran out of gold and rose gold, most of our stock is bones of slain enemies or kitties. I will just claim what I want from them if they refuse a trade.

I swear to fucking ARMOK I will disable ALL YOUR NON TRADING LABORS.
I need to sleep.
12th of Hemadite:
Speaking of ARMOK, I have no idea how this pump system is supposed to work. I get what it does thanks to the crazed rambling writings of leaders past, but I have no idea how to get it to work. I DID find someone trying to engrave the inside of it. Idiot. Minecarts are also strewn about. Tempted to sell them to the elves considering how little chance I see of using them.
18th of Hemadite
Nobody told me there were Nobles here. Oops. Better placate them with goods that could be better used elsewhere. Better also make some...

Sure anything you say boss.
[editline]13th January 2013[/editline]
End of Hemadite:
Everything is covered in vomit and water, at the same time. This is not news, I just want to remind everyone. Nobody wanted to trade with the elves, so I went over there and dismantled the Trade Depot. They looked confused and left without any of their wares. Score, wood things.
The best part about the deep fort is the fact that we can put off the water problem. I'll have to damn the river, if I know how to even arrange that.
[editline]13th January 2013[/editline]
Everything is still too slow. Time is dragging on like water is flowing around but somehow not killing us all. Magic, man (thank the lord for DFhack).
... DFhack
What exactly did you use dfhack for?
Not me, but the previous leader used it to prevent a few leaks from flooding everything
They're engraving minecart tracks.
also, are the secondary generators done, out of curiosity?
they should be on the levels just above the intake.
Speaking of which, what were the tracks for?
Just reporting here that I will be done by tomorrow. Sorry for the lack of updates. Summer had very little going for it but lag and an artifact. Autumn + Summer update soon. Winter update to follow.
It's all good, it gets slower at 5 FPS
Summer Summary:
So little happened in the Summer that it barely warrants a report. Butchery and furniture moving are both going along at a decent pace compared to the glacial pace of the last few months.
But I need something better. I will have to think of such drastic actions later, though. Right now I have to report the only decent thing to happen this season.
Staring at this ring I am wearing.

At first it seemed rather dull, but once I took a closer look, the 46,800 valued ring took on a different set of attributes entirely.

This is the greatest fucking ring ever.
[editline]19th January 2013[/editline]
Autumn Report, Part 1.
I have come up with a plan to end the fort's speed problem with one final spike of slowness, and then smooth sailing. I have already ordered the miners and masons to construct a very simple device.
I call this plan project KEUDAAWL, or Kill Every Useless Dwarf And Animal With Lava.
It's gonna be great. It is a hole with a burrow and a pen zone. And flood gates. And lava.
[editline]19th January 2013[/editline]
Does anyone want to die?

A ring called "The Tactical Irons" that describes a whole lot of warfare and killing in The Forest of Disemboweling?
Fuck yeah.
