Alright Mentlegen, here's the scoop:
As Mayor of New Ventlegille, I have decided that it's about time to establish a new settlement. After an arduous trek northwards, I have found an ideal location: Plenty of sand for export/trade, and a nearby forest located in new chunks. New chunks means new trees, and yet another trade-able material.
So, between now and Tuesday I would like to ask all citizens of New VG to do their part. We need:
Iron for a railway to and from the settlement - Between today and Tuesday I ask that anyone willing to become part of this project to start mining like mad! There shall be a new room just across from the storage level where you may place any iron you wish to donate, or if you feel so inclined to do so you may begin creating minecart tracks. We'll need enough track sections to create two railways, one heading towards the settlement and one heading back, so any little bit helps!
Construction of the railway station - Between now and Tuesday if any of the more architecturally inclined members of our society would like to aid in the design and construction process of New VG's first-ever railway station, it would be much appreciated. There shall be some discussion as to where an ideal location for the station will be, but so far the area I've staked out is a strange circular formation cut into the ground not far from The Compound and, of course if the creator of this strange formation comes forth and objects we shall choose another location to break ground.
Workers to create the rails - Once enough iron/minecart tracks have been procured and a large enough escort party can be established (it's a dangerous route to the north), construction on the railway itself shall begin Tuesday. The railway shall be elevated and partially enclosed to protect passengers from any hostile mobs. No doubt it shall require an abundance of stone which, with any luck, will all have been procured during the mining sprees preceding the construction date.
All in all, it shall be our first grand community project, and I look forward to seeing us band together to undertake this project of Mentlegenly proportions!

A good omen! While carving out the iron donation room I found 6 iron ore! HUZZAH!
I shall start mining at some point! I SHALL DO MY PART!

I can't join any of the servers, I keep getting bad login or unknown host messages.
So instead of getting Iron, I got Diamonds. Using this method of thinking / wanting, I can positively say that I have deducted a way of getting what I want :D

The search for iron continues in New Ventlegille! Through our combined efforts thus-far we've managed to dig up nearly 6 whole stacks of iron, which would provide us with 1024 minecart tracks once crafted! Hop on in and lend your picks and shovels to the effort!

1264 minecart tracks so far. Not sure if that will be enough.

I'm getting ready to move across the US so don't have a job for now. After about 1-2 weeks after moving, I will be getting a job so I can help pay but until then, we really need help from you guys.
