I will work on some of the southern walls. Also almost done with the mineshaft to bedrock.

I've never heard someone speak like that eh
Banned Azotic again for completely removing the house of a guy for no reason whatsoever
This time it's permanent unless Profan decides otherwise, "sorry" won't cut it

He also was being VERY nice to me, and then suddenly broke my house down.
He also was being VERY nice to me, and then suddenly broke my house down.
I would do the same thing :smug:
Rollback applied and house is (80-90%) back now.
Yeah, you don't have the full story about what happened with Max and Azotic. The town in which is happened in is mine, and I said that max could stay with us until he got himself set up and everything becuase he had nothing. But instead he builds a giant house without my permission in the middle of the town square and loads of supplies go missing from community storage. We (the towns residents are all my irl friends) decided that maybe maximo shouldn't be staying with us so we decide to kick him out and take his house down.
I'm not saying that Maximo should be banned, but Azotic should be unbanned because he wasn't grieving at all. Everybody just got the wrong end of the stick.

Azotic told me to start building the house. He also tore it down without telling me that you didn't want it in there. You could've told me before tearing it down.
[editline]13th October 2011[/editline]
Or you could've asked me to remake it.
He stay's Banned no going back, and don't argue to a op of the server, won't get you anywhere.
You should make the Lake Tahoe one. I have a friend who moved to America for half a year to work as a ski instructor there a couple of years ago.
I would love to do that. Except mountain ranges wouldn't really fit here so I would end up making it in the pine/mountainous(which are just kind of like hills) biomes. Eh, I could try though! It'd be really fun especially if Notch added seasons, everybody could come build snowmen, throw snowballs and whatever.

That's pretty dumb if what they said is true. Although if Max wasn't given any warning maybe he should stay banned for a little bit.

Thinking about it, it will be pretty tough to build a ski resort when there is no snow...
[release]Time for some delicious NEWS.
The trade post is re-opening tomorrow after a week's break to work on the pyramid. Some prices have changed. Most importantly, gold exchange rates have gone up, and melon seed prices have gone down.

We now have an image which shows any special deals we have running, encouraged by our group's needs. The link, as usual, will never change.

We have made quite a lot of progress on the pyramid, the estimated date of completion is set at next Saturday.

What's with lightning?

I doubt it's because of creepers, due to all the other fucking holes fucking everywhere.
Lightning will explode smooth stone.
I also see some cobble there.

It's getting pretty annoying. I don't like walking around and having to make my way around a bunch of craters and flowing water.
Hmmm... all this horrible lightning damage just gave me an idea. I should hire someone to go around and fix craters/set up lighting rods in populated areas around the server. If anybody's looking for that boring yet big job, pm me. The pay will be: supplies for lightning rods, torches, dirt, cobblestone, tools, food, and iron/diamond when the job is finished.
[editline]13th October 2011[/editline]
Also, I am going to need the New Traveler's Guild's help with an above-ground railway to the pyramid. Because I want the transport to the pyramid to look great and function well, and our current pyramid-spawn subway is for trade only (and is ugly). I suck with minecart mania as well :v:

It seems the most common cause is the lightning hitting a torch on the ground, I could make it pass through torches and determine wheter to explode or not based on the block under it.
does real lightning make craters in the ground? Serious question, I wouldn't think so.
Is there a way to make it only hit trees and make the wood disappear? That would be a little more realistic.

I'm not sure I'm reading the block prices right. Are you selling, for example, 1 stack of cobblestone for 2 coal? As in I give you 2 coal and you give me 64 cobblestone?
Dx2 and I are in need of a large amount of cobble and dirt.

No, lightning does not create craters of any size in real life. However, this is Minecraft.
I've been gone this week due to writing a lab report and some busywork for classes, and probably will be for the next week or so, but I read up on the thread and wanted to note, to Brim, that I have three and a half doublechests full of dirt. I can trade the three for two iron blocks or one diamond block each, whichever you're more easy letting go of.
It seems to me that the lightning is just destroying everything that once had a block changed, as that's how it works but in my case I had been probing for caves with a vertical shaft and after I filled it back up lightning just kept hitting that same spot over and over no matter what I do now there's just a massive, very deep crater in the ground.
Someone could do this around major cities or ... at spawn on purpose and have the entire place grieved to shit and there would be nothing you could do except plant the lightning conductors if you knew where they dug. The amount of explosive damage it inflicts is just horrible.
On the day the map was created people had went all directions and had changed a lot of blocks on the way. Even people travelling on foot. If I'm correct just picking up some water would log a block. The shores are in complete ruin. It just seems like a terrible idea to have them explode with such a high radius
If a lightning conductor is higher up in the map wouldn't it make sense that it covers more ground the further up that it's created. Since the higher up you go the less blocks there are to attract the lightning thus making it cover more ground.

Yep, although right now we're getting a bit low, I need to get more shipped in. For the time being we can sell the 576pack.
Alright, 14 stacks of cobblestone that I need to find until the massive trade can begin!

I've seen lightning strike damage at my relative's house. It had hit the tree on their yard and gone into the ground. The tree had heavy scorch marks on it and there was what was practically a ditch about half a metre wide and several metres long that ran in the ground, blown away by the lightning strike going towards the house.

Since it's clearly hitting everywhere because everywhere is getting blocks logged why not just give it a low chance of doing damage? It's obvious the aforementioned stories were by small chance. Can't ignore the fact that it's trashing the whole map.

Normally lightning doesn't occur nearly as often as it does in minecraft.
I'll get rama to fix it.
Well, Azotic and me solved everything.

I don't think frequency of hits is a problem. It can be easily prevented with a lightning conductor.
Nerfing the explosive radius would be a better solution. If you make lightning strikes rare then why even bother with a conductor if the chance of a hit is tiny.
Thunderstorms are rare already. Don't make lightning even rarer.
