I don't think frequency of hits is a problem. It can be easily prevented with a lightning conductor.
Nerfing the explosive radius would be a better solution. If you make lightning strikes rare then why even bother with a conductor if the chance of a hit is tiny.
Thunderstorms are rare already. Don't make lightning even rarer.
I mean the whole thing with them blowing up torches on the ground :v:
And 1 block things lying on the ground.
oh right
My suggestion is Lightning makes only 1x1 hole. Smaller pot holes is much better.
Lightning no longer blows up torches nor single blocks laying around. I have given the update to Profan.
Well I thought another suggestion. lightning turning smooth stone into cobblestone, stone bricks into cracked stone bricks, leave a small 1 block pot hole should it hit dirt, sand or gravel and set trees, wood and logs on fire and amplify TNT explosion damage to 3 times it's normal and roast a cow and pig into cooked steak and pork chop

This is cool and all but I don't feel like putting effort into making a lot of stuff you'll rarely see.
Banned Azotic again for completely removing the house of a guy for no reason whatsoever
This time it's permanent unless Profan decides otherwise, "sorry" won't cut it
sorry i know you have unbanned me but i want to know why?
i removed Slice's house in Spurville That ME, Spartan Apples, SweatyPie, and two others built and we needed to knock it down to but in its place the library.
We didn't knock it down for fun, we would of told him but he was offline when Spartans Apples Leader Decided
Sorry but im finding it stupid that you keep banning when im Editing/building Our town.
Thankz
Azotic
Ps. thank you for the Unban and Slice Now knows the reason for de - construction of his house

Look at it from my perspective.
Player suddenly realizes that his house that he worked hard for has been completely erased from existence and has no idea why and who did it
I go and check, see that you're the one that did it, maximo still has no idea why
I ban you to prevent possible further destruction/griefing and wait for an explanation on what happened
Explanation received, not griefing, you got unbanned
If I didn't ban you and you ended up being an actual griefer, and went and destroyed other houses, it would have been my fault for not banning you on the spot.
It can be easily prevented with a lightning conductor.
I find that to be a pretty bullshit excuse. Since it is so easy to prevent, it removes all elements of difficulty that the mod is supposed to provide. Not that it even adds difficulty, just frustration.
I'll get rama to fix it.
That's the attitude :v:
Thank the12345 for his generous donation of 18 €!(163 SEK)!
It seems the most common cause is the lightning hitting a torch on the ground, I could make it pass through torches and determine wheter to explode or not based on the block under it.
So, let's say if we put Obsidian under the conductor. Since Obsidian is the only obtainable block with a blast resistance of over 30 (6000), does that mean anything would explode?
[editline]14th October 2011[/editline]
And also, would it be possible to make something like an anti-lightning cube? Like if we surrounded one large area with conductors all next to each other in the shape of the town/city/general location of lightning denial, it would create an invisible cube around that area that lightning can't strike in?

If you guys can hold out a while, the landscaping of the area within the pyramid should put a lot of sand in my possession. I'll contact you when we have sand in large quantities.

Obsidian is not on the list of natural materials so there will be an explosion, but as you said obsidian is immune to explosions so only the surrounding blocks will be affected.
An invisible cube wouldn't really make sense but I could make it so the radius is amplified if conductors are near eachother. That way you could make a conductor antenna in the center of the town and have it protect the whole settlement.

Alright. The lightning seems to have wrecked the forest around my tower in the spawn area. I replanted most of the forest, and turned the lightning holes into water pools.
I also added some vines around the area, because I think they look awesome. They make the ruins less of an eyesore. If the vines cause too much overgrowth, they may need some trimming.

Can we get a mod online? I think the Cliffhaven subway was griefed.
Banned Bongerman for griefing a large portion of the Cliffhaven subway

I don't think you should do these two, but the rest seem fine.

Definitely do this one. Clay is too hard to come across, especially when you consider how common it is in the real world.

Uhm, have you been into the water recently.
The seabed is just covered with the stuff.

I like this one; gathering a lot of colored wool is a pain in the neck.

Oh I've actually never checked underwater. Still, going all the way to seabed is pretty inconvenient seeing how quickly you drown.

Check the rivers too. That's what I did, and I now have a chest dedicated to clay.
