SonofBrim;32864848']With Profan's permission, I would like to take a crack at this server's first ever country, including 3 towns (which I will let another 3 people plan to their liking), Overdone Inc, and the Pyramid as its capital, along with significantly smaller settlements littered around.

No real taxes or anything (I will have some kind of plan where people can pay for some sort of "tool/food insurance" to make sure nobody ever starves or goes without iron tools), and anybody can build there. Just a series of close nit, trading and communicating towns with a government. Ah, and by "buy" I be like "what, if anything other than a plan, do I have to give you to let me attempt to form a small country on the server?"
[editline]19th October 2011[/editline]
And not just yet, sorry. In the future we should have more, with new renovations
[editline]19th October 2011[/editline]
And thank goodness, we're low on diamonds :v:
Would be awesome if you could make a subway there. And from the pyramid station you can go to the other 4 towns, making the pyramide like a hub.

I've actually got Nisse designing a public one (because I'm shit with subways).
We already have a crappy transport subway though, 3by3 and 2.5km long. It's how we supply the trade post. And Alan, I'll speak with J$ about that, I'm sure he'd love the help.
If my planned Greco-Roman town gets off the ground (put rainbows here), I could potentially extend a similar-sized country to your border. Then march in and conquer it.
Wow SoB, hehe,
What you got going here is genius! I knew your idea would take off when you were setting it up in the last map, I'm just glad you didn't lose hope.
I'd love to help you with towns and/or the subway once I get my desktop back!
I'm going to design my next house after the house we just got.

It will be cool, I'll have a loft too.
Why are you making the towns so close together? Why not just have one giant city with small outposts at each of those sites?
Why are you making the towns so close together? Why not just have one giant city with small outposts at each of those sites?
I'm going for a "country" feel. Multiple towns, all with the capital towering over them in an unhealthy way :v:
And if profan gives me permission, I'll expand the border. Also, PICTURES
Banned ITokez 1 week for stealing and destroying some of vallefd's stuff.
Hey. I just want say that after 3 weeks I am still banned. Mind unbanning me?
Ok.. Heres the plan:
THE TRADE POST
- There will still be only one trade post location. Which will be spawn city. There is no current plan to make another trade post location.
- large orders won't really be happening until Karkand is completley finished. It's been extremley taxing on our resources. So there is little room for trade.
- Ore exchange is still open. We are always willing to make deals.
THE PYRAMID
- Is now officially named Karkand
- A taxing system with benifits will be implemented. Further described by brimstone a few posts up
- Government is currently being establised. Seperate "leader" for each biome.
squids_eyes is the Mining District leader.
- Last 2 district leaders have yet to be established
- Plans to make lots outside the pyramid. Eventually going to evolve into a city. Will not happen for quite a while.
BIOMES/DISTRICTS
- Capital District: Lead by production staff. Sonofbrimstone, DrCow, FuturizeHandgun, juliustoth, Blaisifer
- Wether or not it is going to be public is unknown
- Mining District: Lead by squids_eyes
- Not heavily populated
- Responsible for ore production
- Desert District: Leader not elected
- Simple housing district
- Medium population
- City district: Leader not elected
- Heavily populated
- Will feature a mall that will be the center for trade
- Housing will be apartments
I typed this on my phone. So don't hate if there is any misspellings. There has got to be
somethings I missed so I will repost this post with any updates.
10/19/11
That's pretty much spot on, although we will be merging the city/market/desert district to free up the grassy district for agriculture (so we can get wheat stocks up). Also, a new trade post is likely to be opened in Klippan, although it will merely bare the name and be supplied (to an extent) by us, and will be staffed and managed by someone else (not yet decided).
Note: the reason a very populated, heavily developed area will occupy the desert is that, simply put, the desert does not offer much in terms of resources. Apartment buildings will be much cheaper, but tax/insurance plans will be more limited as well. We recommend them for people who want homes in the pyramid, while keeping previous houses elsewhere.
Some good progress and Dx2 and I's fort today. I personally placed over 4000 dirt blocks and began to work on the main entryway. Dx2 continued working on the keep. We still have tons of work to do so I can't really say when we'll open our doors to new residents. For now we're not looking for workers, but we will trade a premium price for dirt and cobblestone if you come to us.
We have also decided on a name, Fort Akvo, with akvo meaning "water" in Esperanto.

I'm quite intrigued to see what this looks like. It sounds like it's all made of dirt, I'm certain that's not the case though?
Hey. I just want say that after 3 weeks I am still banned. Mind unbanning me?
Hmm, everything goes into the dust quickly. I need to make some sort of document too keep track of people I've banned. Oh well, asking profan when he's online.
Oasis is now open for people to live in, PM for directions and questions, etc...
WE NEED PEOPLE!
SonofBrim;32866200']
We already have a crappy transport subway though, 3by3 and 2.5km long. It's how we supply the trade post.
It's mainly how I get around to spawn city so fast. And I'm guessing the Agricultural district will be shoved into my face for me to harvest?
Brim me and Squid thought of an awesome idea!
Since Karkand is so close to Klippan we should connect Karkand to our subway line.
I am willing to do a lot if digging, but i also expect you guys to do some digging as well as providing rails if you guys like the idea.
Also Darcy may help with this too since his town Oasis is close to yours and want that one connected too.
If we do this it will benefit both towns since more people would come to Karkand when there is a proper subway from spawn, but we at Klippan will also get some attention.
So if you like this idea please reply here or in minecraft, or just send a pm, your choice!
SonofBrim;32863042']Alright, I'll be on in 15 minutes. You're just in time, we are partially closing the trade post until further notice in a few minutes. Ore Exchange is still going to be available, and we will still buy things, but we need to restock on EVERYTHING, because that pyramid took a metric fuckton of resources.
[editline]19th October 2011[/editline]
And I'd give you 3 diamonds.
Brim, you're seriously the best thing that happened to the server so far almost :v:
And as this all happens, jono and I will continue to make our walkway from our settlement towards spawn, a good ~3700m. Subways are for pussies who want to feel safe. Walking through forests and oceans is the real man's way of travel.
Alrighty sorry for the sloppy post, I'm on my phone, but in response to everybody:
Maximo/Slice, I don't know why, but I trust you. You've been nice and helpful so far, how would you like to be the mayor of district 2, the agriculture district? This will entitle you to a title (squids is the baron of mining :v:) and near complete control over the district. We will show you where you must place your capital building, and you may have between 3 and 8 residents. You will get to choose layouts and local taxe rates. I will pm you with more info if you are interested.
Nisse and Johan, that sounds great, but I'm afraid we're a bit too busy to help dig, but if you take this up I will be happy to supply tools track, food and other funding.
Finally, Profan, thank you
While much of this was my idea, remember that this all was by no means my doing alone. I've had a ton of help from Blaisifer, cofounder and worker, DrCow our planner, architect and vice president, FuturizeHandgun, who is another architect, planner and trade manager, and juliustoth (aka J$), another worker and instrumental figure in pyramid construction.

Alrighty, I've sent a PM and the space for your capital building has been marked.

I'm not going to be on much tonight, nor is DrCow
Drumline and Marching band hell yeah

Yeah, and also Brim, before we start it would be good if you could make the station at Karkand and dig down to level 42(i think it is) so we got a solid point to dig towards.

I've got no idea how to make a functional minecart mania station :v
Just dig towards -1300 -500 or so for now.

I'll post screenshots once the grass is in.
Where are the materials located for district building?
Where are the materials located for district building?
We actually need to smelt more stone and such for just such a purpose. For the time being, I recommend you plan who you want to live in the district, how you are going to lay out lots (you could simply put one in either side of the capital if youd like), chop trees, you could begin planning underground farms, etc. I'll get you building materials as soon as I can.
I'm not going to be able to get on for about a week so unfortunately building in the mining district will have to be put on a hold. There is a mine there which people can use if they need to but try to keep it organised.
Brim is creating a monopoly over everything.
well... not like there was anything existing before it.
but this is exciting!

We don't intend to maintain this monopoly, mind you. Competition is welcome :D

Alright, we still need a structure there, I'll get one of our better architects on it.
[editline]20th October 2011[/editline]
And by that I mean both of them :v
haha well I don't see anything wrong with a monopoly in here. Anybody can get what you're selling its just the fact that people don't like doing the work and endangering their lives in mines.
So what you got going on here is good. And theres still a natural way to prevent a monopoly; if your prices go too high, then people will just get it themselves. Its not like its ACTUAL work. Its just pressing some buttons for an extended period of time, plus they have to work for the "currency" any way.
but I don't see any reason you would do that unless a massive gameplay change came into effect in which case the buyers probably wouldn't mind any way.
ugh, my business class is invading my internet life.
