So what does finite water do really?
Uh, you know what finite means righ? :v:

Anyone who wants to live near crampture but not in it you're welcome to build off of my island. Keep the houses small though.

If you made that island artifically, you best move boy.
The reason i made crampture there is because you can't see anything but sea around it.

It's branched off a small real island and I made sure it was far enough away that you can't see it from Crampture.

Excellent :v:
Finite water is progressing well.

Still got water pressure and saving to file to do.
Awesome work! I wonder how pressure systems would work though (although the finite water SP mod has it so it's possible for sure)
Would it be possible for someone to give me a basic roundup of what's going on at the moment. I logged in for a few minutes last night, but it seemed pretty quiet.
I decided to give minecraft a break for a bit and suddenly 6 months had passed, everything's changed and I'm starving to death.

I set up a wooden town called Zhitgrad. Currently 2 (Or 3) people live there and its on an island in the middle of a river network in a forest.
The forest on the island however is rapidly being cleared to allow room for construction and to prevent mobs.
I put the finite water plugin on the test server if you want to try it out

The plugin is amazing, it needs a bit of work but ralle is truly a magician
I like it but it is the end of most mob spawners

Will add some sort of pump eventually so not necessarily ;)
Like I said it's open to interpretation.. I might put 1 person per floor and I might not. I think it's going to depend on what the person is willing to pay.

1 person per floor is what I think. Pack them like gimps
An external view of Zhitgrad.

Everything inside that wall used to be hills and forest filled to the brim with creepers and endermen.
Anyone is free to come for a free plot of land.
Uh, you know what finite means righ? :v:
Yeah. But i don't get the deal, so i can't get infinite water from a 2x2 pond anymore? And when i get water from a lake/ocean it will leave those "running water" traces everywhere? If it's like that it would be an awful plugin.
Yeah. But i don't get the deal, so i can't get infinite water from a 2x2 pond anymore? The plan is to only make natural water which is inside an ocean biome infinite. So lakes and rivers and such would be finite.
As for the 2x2 pond I'm gonna make it so rain refills finite water blocks exposed to the sky. So just plonk a tank down somewhere and lead to water to wherever you want it to go.
Other ideas are welcome aswell:smile:

What no :v:
It equalizes the water level when you take away water, watch the video.
and oceans will be infinite.
And you can't get infinite water from something that isn't an ocean anymore, but now you will be able to fill pools and shit much faster and most imporantly, much more fun.
The current water system is nothing to speak of really.
Does it mean one can put in a pipe to fill up a moat from a river?
Yeah i guess water as it is now is not very realistic, but i'm lazy so maybe that's why i don't like it. :v:
But knowing rama i will probably like it when i see it with my own eyes.
Does it mean one can put in a pipe to fill up a moat from a river?
Yes.
SonofBrim, I could perhaps take a city lot, if possible i could also help mine and grow stuff as such as wheat and etc? I love to help out a community.
Oh god we're going to have to add plumbing to karkand why
Also, a list of jobs that will be available to Karkand residents soon:
Land Owner
If you actively own land in Karkand, you are probably living in either the mining or agriculture district. There is a very limited number of these positions, and people who have them get to build their own houses, have fields, mines, etc, and can build smaller lots on their land (usually underground). These people pay taxes to keep their land (for example, someone working in the agriculture district will pay something like 3-9 stacks of wheat a week, depending on their farm sizes). These resources are then used for tradeposts and to guarantee food/tools for city residents.
Merchant
This job involves being a store owner in the mall (to be added in the near future). Taxes will be decided on a per-person basis.
Hunter/Gatherer
Simply put, you get a home in the pyramid and supplies to go out and hunt/gather unfarmable or difficult to farm materials, such as meats and pumpkins. Taxes will be a small portion of whatever you collect, in return you get a home, supplies, and food.
Karkand Worker
You may work in quarries, or assist in large scale building projects. Taxes are paid in work such as construction, or in quantities of raw materials such as cobble, sand, and dirt.
Private Worker
You work for someone else who hires you within Karkand in the mining or agriculture district. Taxes and housing are up to whoever owns the land, although this is likely the easiest position.
FAQ
Why, why why why do you insist on taxes?
Simply because we are trying to become a large trading power on the server, and we are trying to avoid empty houses. If someone doesn't pay, they get evicted and open a spot for somebody else. This will hopefully lengthen the city's "life span"
As a tax paying member of Karkand, what do we get?
You get food, tools, and shelter. If you contribute we will make sure you never starve or go without an iron pick
And if we don't pay them?
We wait a week, then tear down your house so somebody else can live there.
And what if we just want a house there, but not a job?
That's fine, default taxes are coal and ores.
NOTICE:
We really don't like having abandoned lots, especially in districts such as mining and agriculture that we really on for important resources. So if you're going to be gone a few days, keep in touch!

And sure, let me know which of the above jobs you'd be interested in and I'll see about you getting a house.
There is still a lot in the mining district that I'm supposed to be giving someone. If anyone is interested contact me somehow.
I could be a Karkand Worker. Seem's like a pretty cool job, since i can be very patient at things, such as if i discover like a abandoned mine with spiders i can always just keep cool and go back to mining.
