why not make it correspond with our times?
Every actual full moon winter until the next.
Snow joy for a full month!

Way too long imho, some players who don't play actively/only play for a while on the server would likely never experience the other season
And new players would be so confused when the world is snow for weeks

It changing every 280 minutes is shit too.
Make it command based. or a week winter 2 weeks summer.
The season idea sounds good, and it looks as though I'm whitelisted (I'm GiggleBlizzard) so I'll start playing soon.
Everybody change there nicks to bath2011cunt please.

4h40min of summer. After which there's 2h20min of winter. If you play Minecraft for such long periods of time I think you need to take a break
It sounds perfectly reasonable to me :c
[editline]24th November 2011[/editline]
A season which changes every couple real world weeks has zero gameplay effect whatsoever
[editline]24th November 2011[/editline]
I think that's my main reasoning for wanting to keep a 2/1 moon phase season system
[editline]24th November 2011[/editline]
Think of it this way, having it be daytime for a week and night for another week, it doesn't stir up the gameplay at all. Whereas having it happen more often like now gives a nice stir to it (except seasons would be in moon phases)

Nisse, make the snow pile up so that by the end of the winter there's a 5 block deep snow layer covering the map!
furnaces in crampture should go bing when theyve finished cooking
Horribly off-topic, but are any of you guys good with PC builds (from the ground up)? I've only ever modified pre-existing builds, and I'm trying to put together a budget gaming PC for Blaisifer (right now he uses a cheap Dell).

funny concept but annoying in play

As in "there's a sale going on, less than $650"
He just wants it to be fast and run most games on medium/low, at least at first.

It's a consideration, he currently uses his parent's dell. He has his own flatscreen TV which he may use, but a mouse and keyboard are definitely needed.
hah good luck getting a gaming pc with peripherals for $650
[QUOTE=FlubberNugget;33421764]hah good luck getting a gaming pc with peripherals for $650[/QUOTE]
That's what the list is, it comes out around $615. Most of it is on sale at the moment, and it would run BF3 and Crysis on medium-low to low settings (smoothly).
Better save up more and buy something that can run them on high, than get a low-end gaming PC now.
Patience is the key

you can get a good gaming pc easily under 650$

He just wants something to be able to play games other than Minecraft with his buddies on the PC. I'll probably convince him to put more money into upgrading it in 6 or so months if he enjoys it. For now, these parts are cheap enough for them not to be a total waste if they get replaced in a few months.
imo buy a motherboard thats future proofedish so he can upgrade easilyer
[QUOTE=Eltro102;33422161]imo buy a motherboard thats future proofedish so he can upgrade easilyer[/QUOTE]
Agreed, although I'm still trying to keep it under $70.
I would personally love to see how seasons that last as long as real earth day seasons would work.
It would add a whole new level of realism to the game.
Also, anybody planning on starting a snow biome settlement, let me know. I am really in the mood for christmas and it never snows down in the Valley in California. :/
I'm going to go shower and eat Thanksgiving dinner. I'll see you guys in an hour at the least. Going to spend some nice time with the family and watch some Charlie Brown specials.
New nether portals don't link properly, I just tried.

They never linked properly to begin with, if I recall.

Just so you know... I'm not putting it together for you. I'm not getting involved.
I want to buy 5 stacks of saplings, normal saplings
64 diamonds
Brim, i could make a snow settlement as soon as that bukkit log problem is fixed.
