I just had the best idea ever: A tibetan buddhist temple on the weird overhanging mountain on the Chinese island. The one beyond the ricefields.

by the looks of it it seems that people are having a hard time making Chinese looking buildings inside the city.

I agree, but when it comes to Minecraft you can't make buildings which such detail, therefore i think scratch_nl's house is a good one.

chinese or not, it's close to the main building, so I'm fine with that.
I'm giving up on New Paris. It didn't start off as well as I planned and there isn't a lot of room to build unless it involves terraforming.
I think I'll just go wherever the wind takes me... but transfer all my items to some chests at spawn incase there is reason to go somewhere else.

I think the next map (if Notch doesn't already put it in) create a big desert biome because any "deserts" in the map are really just big beaches. Like what Al Goth is made on.
Can't Notch just make it so there is a chance of making a big desert instead of a tundra.

Can't tell if it really looks Asian because of the texture pack deliberately suited for Asian style buildings.

It's just Painterly pack. Just the paintings are Chinese. Mostly because i didn't like the other options.
What you see is wool and wood pretty much. It would work in vanilla too although the roof might look like puke.
I might come back but I lost inspiration for a cluttered but stylish and organized city because I'm doing all the building.
But as for now I'm leaving my stuff at spawn.

You should do something that has never been done on the server before. Like a sci-fi themed city, or something based on fiction like anything from Lord of the rings(The Shire!) for example.

didn't somebody try to make a place out of WoW and it was too big of a project to actually do?
People have done a Vault type system like Fo3 and it just gets boring after a while. Desert cities are kind of old and dusty ideas now that sandstone isn't as cool as it appeared when it first came out.
Sky cities have been done and are hard to do.
Underwater cities like Crampture are EXTREMELY hard because of drowning.
Average cities built inside a giant wall are kind of displeasing (for me at least) because I feel locked in. yet at the same time I hate the way things are confusing in my towns I start but I still like how natural it feels.
So basically I hope the Adventure Update brings some more inspiration for towns or I'm going to be fresh out of ideas.
