Sting crossed her arms and looked at Iron, "Well hot damn, in and outt jail faster than you can say Giddy up." she said with a wide smile. her lower hands flapped her coat while the upper ones corrected her hat, "Aight then, sheriff. Open up."
The officer returned to the booth and started to work on his computer. He printed out a receipt for Iron before grabbing some heavy duty cuffs. "Here's proof that we officially released her under your care." Said the officer. Iron nodded and placed the receipt in one of his pockets. He then pointed towards the cuffs. "I won't need those." The officer raised an eyebrow and glanced at Sting for a brief moment. "Are you sure?" Iron looked at Sting and nodded. "One hundred percent." He turned back to face the officer. "Open the cell." Even though he'd prefer it if Sting was cuffed, the officer wasn't going to let that get in the way of finally restoring peace after days of intense harmonica jamming. He placed the cuffs in his belt and swiped his card, unlocking the cell door. However as soon as Sting, with a smug look on her face, stepped out Iron lashed out at a incredible speed and grabbed her tail with one hand. With one hand twisting the tail around in a deadly grip and one hand around Sting's neck Iron's dark mask stared into the Aracaans eyes. "Let's put down some ground rules before you try anything. First off, don't get any ideas. We're not buddies, pals or compatriots. You're my bounty. Secondly, no singing. I don't care if you play your harmonica but if you start to sing I will gag you. Thirdly, never forget your value. Your bounty is big but not that big comparing to what I usually turn in, break any rules and I'll put you down for good." "Understood?"
Sting raised her arms, "Whoa there, son. No need to get so frisky. I mean hell, we only just met." she said with a flustered expression. "I'll behave, so long as I get my irons and liquor back."
Iron scoffed underneath his mask and looked at the officer. "You can sign out her personal belongings at the front desk." Said the upyri. "Thank you officer." Iron let go of Sting. "Let's go, Sting." He gestured towards the door.
"If you say so, mister." Sting said with a shrug as she went out the door. At the front desk she turned in a receipt and received her four revolvers, bandoliers and her flask. She opened up the bottle and offered it to Iron, "Ya want a sip? This'll put some fuzz on your chewing gum." she said with a snicker.
Iron simply stared at her silently before turning towards the officer. "We'll be on our way now." The officer smiled behind his tablet. "Remember bounty hunter; there's no return policy." He chuckled and looked up, only to be met with the doors closing. Iron and Sting were walking back towards the main hangar in a calm pace. "Remember where you parked?" Asked Iron.
Sting scoffed as Iron ignored her offer, "Suit yourself.". She doused a rag in the liquid and helt it to her face, inhaling deeply and letting out a few coughs, " Happy birthday!". She continued to cough slightly as she took a swig from the flask, "I reckon it's in the impound" she managed to puff out.
Iron grunted as the odd couple strolled through the busy hangar bay. Most people steered clear of them, thinking that they were two bounty hunters looking for a mark. Eventually they reached a walled-off section of the hangar bay which contained a wide range of modified vessels in many different sizes, shapes and colors. Iron walked up the guard at the checkpoint. "We're here to reclaim a vehicle." He placed the security receipt on the desk which the guard grabbed. After reading it he glanced at Sting briefly before looking at Iron. "Shouldn't she be cuffed?" "That's my problem. Not yours." Replied Iron calmly. "Now give the lady back her truck." The guard shrugged and hit a few buttons, activating a automated crane which retrieved the vessel and placed it in a empty white square next to the checkpoint. "Have fun and fly safely." Iron nodded and turned towards the truck which looked like it had been massacred. When the security officer had said that they had deactivated the vehicle for safety reasons it had not been a understatement. There was a massive gaping hole where the engine should've been and the thrusters had been covered up with striped tape and warning stickers. Iron looked at Sting. "Your ride looks like shit."
Mercy felt her tablet buzz, as it distracted her from something very important. With a grumble, she opened it up to read what had been sent her way. She pondered over it for a few moments, before typing up her reply.
While I typically wouldn't agree to something like this, I would say that even the chance of leaving the mystery boxes, which I'm sure that not even anyone knew anything about before I was transferred, to possibly be found by people we don't want them to be found by strikes me as a poor decision. I vote we head on out to it. - Mercy
She sighed, and got back to that very important thing she was doing.
János, who has been in his new room on the Cataract since he finished painting, looked at the message Taylor sent out. He wasn't sure where Oltanis was, so he went and looked it up- a mission near the Mantle? That seemed like a risky proposition. He wrote up his answer.
I don't know how worthwhile my opinion on the matter is, but I would go against traveling to Oltanis. With its position near the Mantle and what the media has been recently saying, it would be incredibly risky, especially if the UGC is involved.
Hariim weighs in with his vote.
I vote to investigate this third mystery. It's an interesting possibility, and could be lucrative. -Hariim
Hariim mostly stands or sits on the bridge while he delves into the Cataract's computers. -------------------------------------------------------- Bucky chimes in too.
I say we go! We could use a payday, and a new ship. -B
Bucky is getting familiar with the Cataract's systems and all it's nooks and crannies. She can be found all around the ship, and seems to be her happy-go-lucky self.
Jason still had and uneasy smile after what Valk said, Jason then spoke up. "Uh. No thank you, I would like my freedom.. and my dignity intact" Jason then glances to Valk's holotablet and sees a message sent from Taylor about the third archive. "Hey Valk, mind passing the Holotablet?"
"Hey Valk, mind passing the Holotablet?"
She takes it, and tosses it to him. "You fuck with anything and I'll weld your corpse to the hull as a hood ornament."
Jason still had the uneasiness with Valk's Attitude. But nevertheless. Jason replies to Taylor's message. and then returns the Holotablet back to Valk
Go ahead, Cap'. -Jason
Taylor sat back in the captain's chair on the bridge, reading over the responses that the others had sent her. So far, the yes votes had it. She nodded to herself, then typed up a message to Yanim about the vote.
Boss, I issued a vote to the crew over if we go hunting for the Archive. The 'Yay' votes have it, so we'll be on our way to Olantis as soon as we can. - T. Caine
She then informed the crew of the vote, stating that the Yes votes won, so they'd be going to hunt for the Archive on Olantis as soon as they could. - - - - - - - - "Great, we're going on the wild goose chase after all." muttered Valkyrie as she put her holotablet away. And no pay, either. She didn't like working for free. Not at all.
Moloch shouldered his MAG and turned towards Valk and Jason. "Tell me this. Do either of you feel this perhaps may be a trap?"
"At least we got something to shoot at now once we get there." Said Jason as he leans back to the wall and putting his arms behind his head.
Tell me this. Do either of you feel this perhaps may be a trap?"
"Now that you think of it, Taylor said something about the UGC being there, but I wouldn't worry as much."
"Did you forget the news that anyone who helped cause the mess on Voyak is branded a terrorist?" Alex said as he walked in the hangar. "Or are you banking of them being slow to react?" He didn't wait for an answer and looked at Valkryrie. "So Valk, training anytime soon?"
Valk looked over at Moloch. "That as well as we're gonna be looking for a box that probably isn't there." She then looked to Jason as he responded.
"Now that you think of it, Taylor said something about the UGC being there, but I wouldn't worry as much."
She rolled her eyes. Fuck, he really is an idiot. If the UGC is there, then the Kanads are probably gonna be there too. As well as Death Vigil.
"So Valk, training anytime soon?"
She looked to Alex as he walked in. "Hell yeah, lets do it." said Valk with a grin, as she stuffed her tattoo stuff away. "I'll go grab my cutlass and put this shit away." she said, holding up her bag of tattoo equipment, before rushing off to her room. Minutes later, she returned with her cutlass on her hip.
"We can do it here. Seems roomy enough." Alex walked around the hanger to pick a good spot to stand on. He turned his attention back to Valk "You can use that thing if you want. I'm surprised that it hasn't rusted away since I managed to pierce some merc's armor with it."
Maddox walked onto the bridge and did a quick salute. "Permission to speak, captain."
"You can use that thing if you want. I'm surprised that it hasn't rusted away since I managed to pierce some merc's armor with it."
Valk raised her eyebrows. "Oh, so you were the one that shanked someone with it? Huh. I see that you killed the fuck too. There was blood all the way up to the hilt." she said, before drawing the sword out of its sheath. "I honestly don't know what this thing is made of, but I'll probably get it upgraded when I get the chance to a high-frequency blade or something. Anyway, what'cha gonna teach me first?" - - - - - - - - Taylor glanced up at Mad from her holotablet. "Go ahead, Mad."
Maddox entered parade rest. "I've come to a decision regarding my situation." He sighed. "I want to have a informal meeting behind locked doors with you, Markus, Hariim, Porter, Alex, Valkyrie and Frosty. I will tell the truth and I won't expect any type of pardon or act of mercy." "Your boss is Yanim. Your loyalty should be with her, not a spy." As he finished the last sentence his eyes wandered off to absorb the beautiful sight outside. Maddox knew that he had ruined his mission. His missions. Whatever happens he hoped that the credits he sent would be enough for his parents. He looked at Taylor and memorized all her details. Even though the friendly attitude was long gone Maddox couldn't help but admire her. At the same time, he cursed himself and his inability to keep his feelings separated from work. "Anything I can help with before I head back to the armory?" He asked.
"For now I just want to see what you know." Alex said as he took off his jacket. Spreading his arms to the side he contiued. "Go ahead. Try to hit me."
"Anything I can help with before I head back to the armory?"
Taylor looked genuinely surprised at him. She sat forward, rubbing her hands together. "You do realize that you're asking for two people that would probably kill you if given the chance to be involved in this private meeting, right? " Probably why he wanted Porter and Hariim involved too, besides their obvious SDF ties. Alex...she didn't expect for him to try and kill Maddox. Probably punch him, but not much else. "...fine. But I want Yanim in on this meeting too. She needs to know. I'll gather everyone together, and alert you when the time comes. Head back to whatever you were doing." she said, sitting back. - - - - - - - -
"For now I just want to see what you know." Alex said as he took off his jacket. Spreading his arms to the side he continued. "Go ahead. Try to hit me."
"No protection? Alright..." she said. Ballsy, and he seemed to know what he was doing. She gripped the cutlass tightly, and prepared herself, before lunging forwards. Swinging the cutlass in shallow arcs with her right hand as the left stayed behind her.
Maddox stared at her. "I'm well aware." He said sternly. Maddox then saluted and went back to the armory.
Alex dodged the arc to the left, managing to avoid it by centimeters and tripping Valk as he did. "That was good, but predictable." A little lie, he barely managed to dodge that hit, but he wanted to get her angry to properly gudge. He unsheathed the training sword from its hilt and took a stance. "Now try to hit me again, but imagine you're fighting an SDF soldier."
Valkyrie climbed back to her feet, muttering under her breath. How could she have been so easily tripped? She shook it off, getting herself ready to attack again. "Pretend your an SDF soldier, eh? Do you REALLY want to get cut?" she said, her tone low. A moment later, she stepped towards him again as she swung the cutlass in shallow arcs just like before. A bit more aggressively now, but still pretty controlled. Overhanded, horizontally, vertically, even a jab was tossed in.
Alex dodged the first hit by stepping backwards, parry the second and and block the last hit. He lunged forward, slamming his shoulder into her chest to push her back. "No Valk, I want you to land a hit!" He was close, he could feel it. Just a little more. "One more time. Imagine you're hitting someone you really hate. Someone you despise. If you don't land anything after that, I dont know what to do with you."
She stumbled backwards from the shoulder block to the chest, before stopping herself and tightening her grip on her cutlass even more. This was pissing her off. She was trying her best to land a hit, and he was simply knocking it aside or dodging it like it was child's play.
"One more time. Imagine you're hitting someone you really hate. Someone you despise. If you don't land anything after that, I don't know what to do with you."
Easy. A few seconds later, she charged him. She swung the cutlass rather forcefully, as if she was intending to break the cutlass on him instead of simply cutting him. Imagine she was hitting someone she really hated? She was doing just that. A look of pure hatred shown quite clearly on her face, as she continued to swing the cutlass as aggressively as she could.
