Why make models when the game is pre-pre-alpha?
you don't even have a concept yet. The first step in making a video game is writing how the game works and the rules of the game, where the game takes place, organizing WHAT you will be making
then you have to lay it all out in an easily understood way of what steps you'll take. Make TEST models to make sure the scripts work. (Like attaching silencers, etc). This way you can actually get the game itself completed and afterwards make the game look like a game. Doing this you can do far more, such as severed heads of zombies still moving, etc.
like the models look good but taking making a game slow is better, as you don't even yet know what it'll be.
drawing out ideas with 3d models isn't a bad idea to be fair.
but honestly no matter what you do, you should have a checklist or a google doc filled with piles of features and what needs to be done
when i was working on dead matter, i had a 14 page google doc just for the modification.

Wow. Yeah I have a notepad (The program) Filled with ideas and stuff.

that'll get messy fast, also do you have a programmer yet?
I know some people don't take Blender seriously but I use it for testing and stuff. When one thing is perfected and complete we will import it into Unreal.
NOTE: This portion of the map is only 10% complete.

I have one person who sort of knows what he his doing. He's not a Unreal Guru but he's still pretty good. It would be nice to have someone who knows UDK inside and out. :(
looks much better, wait.. are you not rendering your pictures?
also people DO take blender seriously, atleast half the modelling section uses it, including myself

No ,this is in-game.
Is that what you meant? Like is this a render or in-game?
NOTE: Unreal will make this look so much nicer. :D

uh, render it in blender lol
doesn't really matter how nice it looks if it isn't a fun play to game
Well I hope that it doesn't turn out like that. I hope I can try and please everyone. (Which I know I can't)
Update 2
Note: I flattened the trench geometry to properly align the wooden planks. I shall add shape back to it once I've finished with the wooden planks, pipes, the small concrete bunker... etc.
break it up a bit, jesus fuck
What? I know, it's not done yet, I am adding cracks into the wood and going to randomize it a bit more.
and size them, on the different axis. :)
its too uniform, break it up with physical placement
Yeah. I've done that. I rotated some of them, sized them on the Z axis, added 2 or 3 edge loops on the side of the wooden plank to add cracks and stuff. :)
I make 3d games im very good
Java script
And Csharp script
Iam only a programmer and im not a modeler
I have great ideas too

ur gold
I forgot to mention, my friend is doing the pre-alpha modelling stuff.

I do have ideas. But like you said, 1 person can't make a game.
Well start helping your friend then!
Oh, NO! Change is not always good. Take the Batman: Arkham series for example, the all have the same game play mechanics and people still love them. Halo 2 and 3 were pretty much the same as well.
They're are a lot of brilliant games that have the exact same game play mechanics as the previous game. Not all games have to be different each time. So might I say "You're fucking stupid if you think that's all true"
mango stop messaging me on youtube
It takes two to argue. I message you, you message back. I'm not exactly going to ignore you, if you said to me "You're fucking stupid if you think that's all true"
then argue on here i don't use my youtube account
I never said that. Plus, who says "Get real mate" nowadays. Jesus. Oh and you misspelled mate*
What you're saying to me is like hating on WB Montreal for making a new Batman game with the same gameplay style as the previous games.
I do agree with you, that I should't exactly have it like COD zombies, but I can't make something "original" can I?
If I have a free roam type game you and Facepunch buddies will say "It's already been done, it's called Dead Island or Dead Rising 3" Why don't YOU think of something original, I highly doubt your mod that you're working on is fucking original. Fuuuuck!
P.S I am not referring to the people that you think I am.
hahah are you seriously using my use of "get real m8" as an argument point
(the difference between your game and my mod is my mod didn't start off as "let's copy a game and make a few changes to people won't notice)
[editline]8th October 2013[/editline]
christ the fucking thread is called "Call of Duty: Zombies - Fan Game."
I don't care if people notice. I'm not hiding anything. I never in anyway thought, "let's copy a game and make a few changes to people won't notice" Oh and you missed out a quotation mark. :P
Hmm, what about the mod website thingy that was posted here? It was based of CoD Zombies, it had power ups, like the golden nuke with glowing lights coming out of it! Guess what people said "I love this" "It's so fun" etc...
The only difference I could see between that and CoD Zombies is that it didn't to be round based and it had different weapons. I'm not hating on it, I am actually glad he did it or they did it.
Yes, when I first posted the idea of "Call of duty: Zombies -Fan Game." I was a total idiot, some of you still think I am.
I am working on this whether you like it or not. I don't care what you think, I only care what the zombies community likes, and you're not a part of it, since you don't even like CoD. So of course you're going to hate on me.
oh my god leave and never come back
I'm sorry, I'm sorry, wa, wait just hold on. I just had to say it. :P
I found that video really funny.
Okay in all seriousness. I know some of you don't think it's a good idea, I respect that. (Kind of)
But TCB doesn't like call of duty as I said before. So of course he's not going to like anything that has the words "Call of duty" or anything that relates to it in anyway.
"Edit" v
I'm *NOT* really sure if any of you here like call of duty.
I only wanted to make this game because treyarch had messed* up their maps and their* story line. I.E
Transhit, Derp Rise and Buried.
& so I used to want to make the same thing, just with my own weapon(s)*, zombie bosses and map ideas.
But you guys actually made me realize who the fuck wants that? You're right, it's already been done. If I was going to make that I should just use Radiant.
Thanks you guys. :)
Now I'm trying to change as much as I can.* I am going to keep some aspects that Treyarch have in their games.
Like Easter eggs, although ours won't be anywhere near as complicated as Treyarch's, and I hope we can make them fun too. :)
I am thinking of completely obliterating the round system, make it faster paced. Since it's a slow starting and I hate that, it's so boring.
Urm, I'm not sure about removing the wall weapons, I probably will or I will try and make it work differently.
The Programs I am using are:
Unreal 3 - 4 (If it comes out anytime soon)
3ds Max 2012
& Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)
you're terrible at arguing. it's like you realize everything you have to say is wrong in some way so you focus on shit like "you missed a quotation mark!!!"
you don't even know whether or not i like cod. i never said i don't like the cod games, i said i don't like yours because it's nothing more than a copy of cod. you can try to act ~superior~ and say "well i'll ignore you" but then you'll just waste your time making a game nobody will ever play
[editline]9th October 2013[/editline]
nevermind apparently your realize this idea of yours was terrible (even though it looks like you're still doing the same thing just with less cod features which shouldn't even have to be mentioned)
You told me on YouTube you don't like cod.
The only thing I have realized is that nobody wants a complete copy of a game that has already been done and that has been pretty much the same for over, what is it? 10 years? Probably less.
See with Treyarch's zombie maps the atmosphere is... well, the same.
If I were to tell you that I am making a zombie game that it's only similarities to call of duty are that it's based around the Nazi's trying to accomplish super weapons and super soldiers using a mysterious element, would you still say it's a copy?
I have been inspired by a movie called "Gravity" which came out in theater a couple of days ago, I was thinking of having the main story line which is set in World war II. Then we or I would have seperate stand-alone maps, which will have different aesthetics. I was thinking of having a what some people may call "Moon level" or "moon map".
But space + Zombies may work very well together, of course it wouldn't be like the map "Moon" it would have the feeling of anxiety, fear of the unknown. The skydome or skybox would hopefully look beautiful. I was also thinking of having complete zero G in this map. Obviously the map "Moon" had some gravity otherwise you could just float off. :/
I haven't exactly thought this map through yet but the idea of being trapped in space, where no one can hear you and it's a silent killer. Makes me think it may be a could idea.
Edit*
I also think that Treyarch adds waaaaaaaay too many sounds to their maps. Which takes away the creepiness, have less sounds, maybe have the zombies have a distorted faint groan. Have the ambient sound like Electro magnetic radiation•, like it's supposed to, silent but deadly.
[editline]9th October 2013[/editline]
I fucking love that idea - Fear of the unknown, darkness anxiety I really want to execute this well.
This is going to be my main focus of the game.
GUYS! You're right, If I make it a fan game we have a lot of limits. Make it my own game, well, haha.
There are no limits to what we can do. If we have it as a fan game, we may screw it up as a zombies fan game. It's quite hard to explain. I am going to get to fucking work on it right NOW! YEAH!
fuck off and come back when you have work
words are cheap, and they dont buy people on here
i said i don't like cod in the sense that i'm not a massive fan who would play a shitty fan game. i don't mind playing zombies sometimes (i wouldn't buy the games or anything) because it's fun but i wouldn't play a game that's a blatant ripoff of something else
