Thats what happened to me around 5 times until I found 3 sheep and beat them to death for their wool and made a bed. Than I found some pigs and eventually got mushrooms and lived off stew until I got to 1.8 land and now I eat like a king with steak and chicken.

No... ~250 million blocks mining through the nether 90% of the time without DSG's help is alot of area to cover, and people still walked the path a day later.
Not to mention I had walked another 40K on foot once I was at 100Kx 100Kz to build the diamond castle.

Seriously, since this thread has been moved in the subforum of General Games Discussions it's completely dead. It should be moved back in the Minecraft section.
Due to the fact that the server I use is ungodly expensive, and the only thing I use it for anymore is the US server, I'm going to close it next week (when the payment is due).
I hope you all had your fun, and when the server closes, I'll release the map we used.

Exactly. If this thread was in the right section, maybe more people will still look at it. People playing Minecraft look at the Minecraft section, not General Games Discussions section.
