First time on 2b2t in about 3, 4 months, Damn, I forgot how unforgiving the spawn point is, no food for miles.
I kind of wish cheating was impossible on this server. Because basically if somebody stumbles upon your place, if they are using an Xray texturepack then you're screwed no matter how well you hid the entrance.

If memory serves, those are the far lands.
That far out from the spawn the world kind of... comes apart, because of how the game generates terrain.

The far lands start around 12 million away from spawn. What he is seeing is just chunks loading very slowly, this happened all the time when people were flying.
My place is coming along nicely. I got all the floors built and the stairs to go between them. Still working on getting supplies to furnish the floors though.Gonna vary stuff later, so its not just cobble.

Knowing where monsters are at all times also gives you an unfair advantage, since you can move around in caves/at night with ease.

make a bed and get in it at night for 10 or so seconds and you will spawn at that bed. Make a sword to fight zombies.

If you cant find any sheep find spiders, you only need 12 string to make the 3 wool required.
Spent a good hour or so fighting about 15 Ghasts with a friend in the Nether, we made a Cobblestone barricade to stand on, holding down the spot. T'Was great.
