Mainly as the server is running bukkit he could add a plugin like worldedit which allows you to change certain blocks, so fill it with dirt, select dirt and change to portal block. Magic, only downside if you break or interact with any blocks around the portal blocks they all go poof.

Although its probably never going to happen, it'd be really cool if we could have some factions on this server (not plugins ofc, just groups of origin). Like one base be Facepunch, one base be /b/, one base be reddit, and so on. If people want to be independents then fine, etc. Again, never going to happen anyways (people leakin coords and stealin shit) but it'd be cool.

The betrayals, drama, and backstabbing that would result would be worth all the effort in putting it together, I'm sure-- but given the healthy (and justified) paranoia that abounds on the server I'd be surprised if we could get many people to participate. Mostly it would be "sure I'll join your group what's our coordinates" and then the griefing begins. That being said, I'm getting bored of skulking around my secret base and would like to find some folks to build something new with. I know a bunch of you guys are building your base and I wouldn't expect you to trust me to help on that-- but [i]is anyone looking for a building partner?[/i] We could start from scratch somewhere so there would be nothing to grief or loot. Anyone interested?
