We spent the day visiting my two old bases, Camp Shellshock and Fort Eden. I found a few signs at Shellshock, and there were signs of player activity that wasn't previously there at Eden.
those 2 bases seem fake, no chat, which can be hidden with F1 but that would hide the entire hud

The second base that Jakeman found is real, I know that. It's an old base that belonged to Kitteh and the diamond blocks from the diamond checkerboard pattern have been removed. Here's pictures of what it used to look like:

I knew DSG took the diamonds back, and I never said that Jakeman took them. And I know you were probably talking about the first big one but you said "those 2 bases" so I thought I'd at least clarify that one of them was legit.

nothing I was stuck in my second base (abandoned, raided by chris back in august) on a floor between actual floors and didn't have a pickaxe so I literally couldn't get out unless I had the patience to dig out of several layers of cobblestone but I figured it's more fun to spam chat with bullshit rather than to dig out and have to start over in 2b2t since I don't have anything left but somehow spiders started spawning in the place I was stuck in so they killed me and now I'm unstuck so idk what to do on 2b2t so I might make myself get stuck again somehow

I really wish the difficulty was set to Normal, because escaping spawnkillers only to slowly starve to death not even a thousand blocks out is not fun at all.

It's true. If you don't have a base already, you're irreparably screwed, because hunger drains in a few Minecraft days.
And I don't really consider myself a noob, seeing as how I was on the server quite a bit before the 1.8 update.

You guys don't even look do you? There's plenty of caches and small bases around spawn that you can easily reach. If I'm ever sent back to spawn I just look around for one of those. Not too hard.

I don't understand how anyone can complain about how things are in a server. If you don't like it, find another server that suits you, you bloody idiot.
On my server I have it set to hard difficulty, and I have a limited torches plugin and players need to go to the nether if they want permanent light. I personally like this kind of gameplay, so I have it on my server. After all, I pay and spent time running it. Nothing pisses me off more than when someone joins the server and wants things to be easier and wont shut up about it, especially when they are in the minority. If you don't like it, leave (usually I just ban them to make the process quicker)
