At spawn there is a nether portal, the nether has mushrooms. Mushrooms spread, and if they are left long enough, they grow into a huge field of mushrooms, and it's a good food source you can craft easily.

Raw mushrooms are the most effecient stockpile food.
In the nether you find tons of mushrooms. Melkor went one one mushroom run to the nether 2 weeks ago and about 10 people have been surviving off of them to this day.

If you remember, I told you that i found your base and the chest just outside of it, with a sign behind it saying "You found it, you burn it", and in that chest, in the very middle of all the slots, was flint and steel. But i put a sign next to that, saying "I didn't, Killerkid745". Hopefully that fort is still up Gum.

I did the same thing for about two hours. Got so happy when I finally reached a fairly virgin area. Then a creeper blew me up.
