one of the main reasons I enjoy this server is the old ruins and such of days gone by, if there was just a fresh start it would lose appeal

Mobs should work fine, but there won't be any of the ravines, ruins, villages etc except in new chunks - far away.
i don't think villages would last very long anyway.
Just a thought: Just today, on Profan's, there was a test run of a plugin that made Netherrack "infectious", slowly turning everything into Nether materials. Then PvP was enabled. The result was a mad, murderous rush for materials and fleeing from the slowly spreading threat across oceans slowly turning into lava, forests turning into masses of twisted, stone tree carcasses, and all that shit, trying to find untouched lands to salvage. It could be interesting to try on this server, too.

Yeah OP exaggerates. I was exploring around spawn or a long time and no one attacked me. Everyone already has their own base or they already walked far out. It seems smarter to build closer to spawn. But ofcourse it's risky and you'd have to crouch a lot.

how fast does that nether mod spread? I may suggest an event for a server I go on. Just put a netherrock at spawn and let it spread.

I had a base at 2k and it got found over night, you need to go far out. And crouching isn't going to make a difference, people use xray mods to find underground bases n stuff.

I had a base within 1k for months, and no one found it until just recently.
i found a base some1 spent a long time making it look super looted
i got a stack of diamonds and full diamond set and other cool stuff
I had an old base about a month ago, only one other occupant though.
I eventually left it for another base, then Outpost Raptor I.
Now that I'm dead, and I still have the coordinates, I may go see if it's still intact.
Raided a house, Planted loads of pressure plates above the ground with some tnt under the pressure plates. Wrote a note saying: Good luck getting your stuff back.
He fucking stepped on one pressure plate( Triggered all the others). The Loot was amazing

Well, the base is still somewhat intact.
Someone found the Complex and the concealed survival kit that I also hid the base's diamonds in. It's all gone now.
Besides a few broken open walls and ceilings, the rest is intact, including my friend's cafe, the farms, and everything else. Nice of them to not completely ruin it.

Maybe. TAU! was supposed to become a resident, but I don't know what his status is.
I wish I could leave but I am not up for building another mob grinder. I don't feel safe at 4k. Ideally I would live at about 12-14k
This is my place in the nether. It extends to the bottom of the lava lake. It's been around a lot longer than I thought it would.
