I would think just signs pointing to other signs pointing to other signs, when finally, the last sign is a math riddle or something leading you to specific coordinates.

the lava and water are hidden by the 3 high cobble pillars, and there's a piston in it that pushes the cobble

I did that awhile ago, hid diamonds in chests along with coordinates. Nobody cared.
I did one yesterday. After crossing miles of nether, I was building a bridge of netherrack across the sky to get to the opposite cliff. I got shot by a Ghast in mid air and fell to my death.
I didn't even know it was there, it hit me directly with the first shot.
I lost the will to continue searching after that.

You didn't kill me because I was gone for 2-3 days or so.
At least, did you like the base's architecture/design? And it was nice loot wasn't it? I guess it's finally time to move on. Had that base for a while and it wasn't even finished. I was the one who designed the place and did most of the digging and Isak helped me with some of the grunt work later on. He also redesigned what I did for the hallways and it looked pretty good. Kind of sad that you found via xray however. (I know because of the 1x1 tunnel leading down into it)

Actually I found your nether portal. Had a look around the area and saw the tunnel. It wasn't plugged or anything.
My base is hidden the same way(underwater, 1x1 tunnel) but the portal is farther away.

I think I found a mob tower near my spawn. It's not as much of a tower as it is a really, really big and dark hole that goes all the way down to bedrock. Getting the fuck out of my house ASAP.
I finally made it home today. This place has gotten huge, but sadly it seems I'm the only one left. Slagathor ran off and made his own base somewhere close-ish to spawn, and noone's heard from Momo in a long time.
