If the others don't care then I'm sure they'd be happy either way. As for the ones that do care, either let them speak up or fuck them. If they don't want to say anything then why should we assume that there's some sort of silent majority of them? How do we know that there isn't a majority of the people that want a new map? You don't, so don't base your opinions off anything 'silent'. Base your opinions off the people that actually care enough to voice theirs, they're the loyal fans of this server.
Housemaster has had a good run of having an 'I don't give a shit' attitude. But that run is coming to an end. In the beginning when the server was running fine and the community was moderately small, that attitude kept the server from being turned into some shitty server with 1000 plugins. The server stayed true to it's original intent. But now, the server has a much larger fanbase, and you gotta start listening to what the majority is saying, otherwise you're gonna lose them. How much longer do you think people are gonna wanna stay on a server that keeps corrupting itself and causing them all to reset back to spawn, as well as loosing everything in their inventory? Not to mention they have to walk back to their base from spawn over and over. And it's tough on housemaster himself, as far as I understand he has to do a bunch of maintenance every time it crashes and revert it to a working save.
Honestly, I don't give a shit what you do Housemaster. I've stopped playing on 2b2t, and in fact only visit the thread now to see pictures of bases that have been raided. When 1.8 comes out I'm sure I'll play and enjoy it for a little bit, because I'm about to enter college and abandon video games as a major hobby anyways. I'm just telling you, start listening to your playerbase before they get fed up and decide to quit your server altogether.
If you do actually bother to respond, answer me this: Why are you so determined to not start a new server at 1.8? The server's corruptions are a hastle to you, as well as every other player on the server. As someone already pointed out, the only people that actually want to keep playing are the ones that duped 5000 blocks of everything and now don't want the server to be reset because they will loose all their wrongly acquired items. If it's because there's some super secret mega city a million blocks away from spawn that you really don't want to lose, I'm sure you could copy and paste it in MCedit to the new world. So what's the reason that you're so bent on keeping this world?

The problem with switching to a new map is, while it won't corrupt every few days, all the ruins will be deleted. I don't know how long the server has existed for, but it would take a very long time to re-build them, if people even choose to. At this point, almost everyone just goes <1K out and builds an underground base or something, from what I've seen the only real construction going on near spawn is the restoring of griefed buildings.
Are you the guys trying to renovate the spawn? I saw Lucky, and helped you out by placing some dirt and planting a couple of saplings.

During almost ten months it has crashed less than 20 (maybe a few more) times, and this is the first time the map corrupted itself but it's fixed now and won't happen again. Just once, in almost ten months the map rolled back 4 days. If people whine about this, I can't really care when I see what goes on with other servers. Also no I don't really care if people stop playing and it goes empty 24/7, because on my part the loss is nothing. And the 1.8 update brings less features than the world already has.

Are you ever planning on releasing a world map and possibly even the map file? Obviously not right now but at some point down the road when things get legitimately unstable, or if you decide to just stop hosting this one day.
My friends and I have all seen some wonderful things in our time here, and would like to see the general shape of the world eventually as well as where some of the other neat stuff is. I'm not sure if this has been answered anywhere before, but a skim through the last 10 or 15 pages turned up nothing, so thought I'd ask.
