I'm not playing actually because I don't have the time, but I'm reading this thread every night or so. And I'm feeling like this server is going to its end if things keep up like that...
The map has been corrupt and every player's data has been deleted. And now from what I read the world becomes more and more unstable. Maybe it's not possible to keep up for "technicals" reasons. But I will never agree with people who wants the map cleared and thinking like "if you don't reset your map i'm going to leave 2b2t for ever yo".
Playing in an old world in ruins is part of the concept of 2b2t that you'll never find anywhere else, and you should know that if the map gets cleared, it's about 10 months of memories that are going to be lost. Things will never be the same and playing here will be like playing on any else random server.
I'm not saying that playing in an unstable world is a good thing. But I don't understand your reactions, and you people should be more worried and wondering about how much time the world will last before it dies by itself, than raging over and asking for a new map absolutely, if you were caring about the concept of 2b2t...

They're all gone. And these 'memories' can be saved in a map for everyone to download, if they want to. :v:

It might be undownloadable at it's current state. It's about 42.7GB at this point, maybe even a little higher
Hey so I talked to housemaster about making a US 2b2t server, and he said he's okay with it. Since his is in Sweden, I thought this might be help out with some of the lag issues. If I make a US server, would anyone play it, or would it be a waste of time? It'll pretty much be the exact same as housemaster's, but it won't be the same map, obviously.
I'm just gathering info right now before I do anything. I already have everything I'd need to make a server, I just don't want to waste my time if no one is going to play it.

Yeah that's the problem I can see. It'll be just a bland map when it first starts, and unless people start playing it, it won't change much. That's why I'm asking first, instead of having one up for a while, and then it going down because no one played it. Would rather not let anyone down like that.

I hardly ever lag, and I'm pretty much as far away from Sweden as you can get.
Map:
make a new one? I don't think so. It sounds like a good idea, but why doesn't everybody just go through the nether to like 500k or wherever there is a large space with no chunks yet. It will be like a new map, but still have all old stuff closer in.
Other idea, but stupid because it requires plugins:
make a permanent portal at spawn that takes really far out, pretty much equating to a new map.
What I'm probably going to do is resource gather until 1.8, then make a long tunnel in the nether and play it from there. Hopefully, there will be a period when flyhacks work, and I'll be able to get out there quicker.

I'd like a closer server, lag was killing me the other day. If you start one, I'll gladly help you turn it into an apocalyptic wasteland.

Maybe you're just lucky. Pretty much everything I do lags a little bit. I'm sure I'm not the only one that experiences this, and I hope that there are enough people willing to start anew for a slightly better experience.

Yeah this is exactly what I'm talking about. I hate to inconvenience anyone from 2b2t, but I'm hoping it will be worth it.
I get almost no lag. And I am in the northwestern section of the US...
So I won't be on 2b2t for around 2 weeks, had an electrical fire in my house that destroyed a good portion of stuff.

Wow that sucks. A lot of us may give you a hard time in-game but I'm sure I speak on behalf of most people that we're sorry for what happened and we hope you can recover as much as you can.
I made a house with Scruffy_Puppy. Next day..? The whole base was stripped. The chests were completely empty(How the hell can you move at least 200 materials without going back and forth?) and I'm suspected to think that it was asb getting revenge on me for killing him when I invited him to make a base(because I thought he was a different person, coming to kill me)
