Actually since most sensible people will have more-or-less abandoned the spawn area and will avoid it like the plague after a while, something like a snapshot once every half-hour or so for a week would be a better idea, if at all possible.

I'm fairly new and he doesn't seem to hate me. Well I actually started 2b2t in January but I quit because I thought it was gay ... and here we are today.

I'm sure that's possible through scripting of some sort, but sadly I don't know how.
You're supposed to know about the server before you join it. Joining it and not even reading the OP marks you a total newfag by DSG. Even I hate having to explain "oh run around n shit and build stuff" to everyone who has the IQ of a peanut..

It does get old hearing "y r ther no tres?" for the 10th time in 2 hours.
But considering the entire server is essentially "trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls trolling trolls" they probably do it just to piss people off, knowing full well what it means when they find "a little room with chests and a burning box thingy inside".

There's a difference between being new to the server and being a complete idiot who doesn't even know how the server works.

Pretty much this. There are so many stupid new players on right now who think that there are plugins and stupid shit like typing "/spawn" to return to spawn or who think racism should be bannable, etc. Some people are joining the server going like, "I wanted to join a minecraft server but I don't like all these idiots from /b/ being here." THAT'S THE FUCKING POINT OF THIS SERVER! Why the hell would someone join 2b2t expecting a nice happyville where nobody says things like fuck or shit or asshole and there's no stealing/griefing/killing? It's fucking stupid and those people should leave. The people who also thought I should be the exception to the "No rules" thing because I was typing in all caps should also leave, because "No rules" means "No rules." Anyone can do whatever the fuck they want on the server and that's the point. If you don't like it, instead of bitching to the people who use the server for what it's for, leave.

So, I set off, with only stone tools into the world of 2b2t, after having two bases ruined. I was thinking about making a ruins-type of building where players would naturally think that it has been raided, but instead, carry a vast trove of treasure 10 levels under it.

Not a good idea. Just make an underground base only. Any sort of human interaction with the world raises a red flag for me, and then I sweep the area with my xray.
So I just bought the domain for the new server. I know 2b2t has a few mods, so could anyone care to grab the links them? Just the anti cheat, and such is all I'm going to have, just like 2b2t. I don't want to fuck up the server with bukkit, as I've not used it too terribly much.

Not a smart thing to do, especially when you tell everyone what your brilliant scheme is. Kinda like that guy who was all "I'm going to build fake dungeons and put chests in them and hide my valuables there instead!". Good job genius, now everyone's going to inspect every dungeon or dungeon-like structure on the map.

TBH the game should use a feature where if a certain block texture is transparent in any way the texture pack won't work.

The problem is, there are some textures that use transparency. It would break those, unless he found a work around.
