Server ain't all that special. Looks like just about every server I've played in my life.
Thank you for your criticism. We're still a new server, and we haven't done the things we plan to do with it yet.
First off, the only units online were rock-solid, edgy Recruit's that had no idea how to properly type ICly or OOCly.
Surely you can provide logs of such to me personally. I deal with things like that the best I can. Sadly, I don't control who gets in or not. I let players whom I trust control the factions, rather than admins. I believe the recruit you're speaking of is one that the former squad leader let in, who has since been replaced. Again, if you felt there was an issue, you could have gone directly to me and we could have dealt with your concern discreetly. If you think that one or more players, who I do not check for quality, represent the entire player base then you are deluded, biased or mistaken. Besides, recruits can afford to not be as of good "quality" as other units, being that they are temporary.
The admins of the server refused to admit that the fact that they blocked off the warehouse and locked the front gate to it, in which I told them that they were propblocking.

Of course people on the server are buddy-buddy with the server owners, which made it almost impossible to get my point across.
I believe you are referring to this: [O] Michael Baxter: propblock on a HL2RP server, gg [O] Amanda Harris: Where? [O] Alrik Lagerspetz: It's a wall. [O] Michael Baxter: Not from what I saw lmao [O] Alrik Lagerspetz: It is a brick wall. [L] Michael Baxter: It's a propblock [L] Alrik Lagerspetz: I took the style from another roleplay server. [O] Michael Baxter: great server 10/10, The admins are in bold. I do not know the reason behind the wall being erected. I do know that it is reminiscent of another server that the players and admin were involved with. However, from the logs, it's clear that your view is not quite accurate. You're not so much trying to get your point across as you are making snide remarks, and leaving before anyone can get the chance to retort. I'm sorry that you didn't like the server, but you shouldn't blame them being friends with me is the reason why your remarks were not well received. I hate to say it, but sometimes it's not other people's fault that people don't like you. If you insult them or the server they play on, people tend to get angry at you. Upon your leave, someone did get angry. I will omit their name but I quickly told the server not to. You aren't being persecuted for any reason and if you wanted to return, you could do so without fear of such.
5/10. Nothing new to see here. Server will probably die within a month, two months tops. It's nothing different other than the new script which IMO is inferior to that of NutScript.
Thanks, Nostradamus. I'm sorry that you feel this way, because I do put a lot of work in making sure every player here has as much fun as they can. It might not be perfect, and no one is claiming it is. We are going through a lot of trials and tribulation. We've had our fair share of interference and people doubting us at every turn, but I am confident that things will sort themselves out. We have an excellent community core already of people who want to contribute to a great, long lasting story. I feel that letting it die, as your predictions state, will be such a let-down and disservice to everyone involved and I certaintly will not let that happen on my own accord. With regards to your last comment, that the script we use is inferior than NutScript, I will say that nothing is a competition. It certainly lacks features that I wish it had, that Nutscript DOES have. It also has some features that Nutscript doesn't. I personally love it for its look and performance. Others don't like it, and that's perfectly acceptable. It's not a competition. We're not trying to compete with any script, any community or anybody. We're simply here to have fun and offer a different take on what you already might be used to, through a different philosophy both IC and OOC.

Dubs is well known on this subforum for trolling and overtly criticizing every serious rp server. While you do have a good attitude though, I feel as though your main defense for not having a properly developed server management scheme is that your server is new, which is fairly reasonable, I'd just suggest to anyone here that you should wait a month or two until the OP gets his shit together before going on the server. Perhaps you should have waited until you had a plan worked out and something to show off before you advertised your server here.
I'd just suggest to anyone here that you should wait a month or two until the OP gets his shit together before going on the server. There are a few bugs, but I'll do my best to work on them. Anyone can do what they want though, so if you want an absolutely amazing script you can wait a month or two and join, or you can help the growing process and offer suggestions now. I love that about Gmod, that you can just choose where you want to play from a lot of choices. That is glorious.
So, I took a loan, bought an electronics license, realized it was almost impossible to make my money back any time soon, and disconnected :v:
Took a loan, bought a misc. license, watched as every citizen character was automatically dead-set on "lets kill combine" and no real citizen activity other than a housing assignment. There's no appeal in just walking and talking, especially when most of the characters online have the same 'my parents were killed by the combine' backstory which they use to justify rambo-behavior and no other form of character/trait development. Administration seems fairly competent, although I noticed a good number of trolls that went unbanned for one reason or another. From what I saw, all administration played on their MPF characters-- probably because the citizen faction is so desolate of proper roleplay & activity. Not really what I'd call ideal when you're trying to encourage activity within the citizen faction. Long story short, I got bored within minutes. If you enjoy most CW:HL2RP's, you might be used to the lack of focus on citizen activity. Otherwise, you'll notice that your sole purpose seems to be to walk, talk, and quickly make your way into another faction.
After some research on this server and a opinion from a friend, and also playing as a CP there, I can't say I won't be staying and it'll be the typical server that will die within a week or so, it's 3/4 minges and the serious roleplayers are the typical overpowered that ERP in the slums from what I've gathered and seen. Good luck though.
I got bored within minutes.
Maybe you should have stayed on longer to have seen some events. I'm sorry you feel that way. There are currently no admins in the CCA.
will die within a week or so
Please tell me who wins the Superbowl. I could seriously make money off of your predictions.
I'm afraid your piggy bank will be empty then. I'm just saying that this is a rather generic scene of HL2RP and not that innovative.
I'm afraid your piggy bank will be empty then. I'm just saying that this is a rather generic scene of HL2RP and not that innovative.
I honestly haven't been playing it, but that's due to other reasons. It's one of the few or only servers that is running CombineControl which is a pretty neat gamemode for HL2RP. I wish them good luck running their community.

I mainly intended to outline that not all of the rebellious activity is rambo like.
I heard the server died/or was renamed. R.I.P.
I heard the server died/or was renamed. R.I.P.
I don't think that's true, considering there's nothing on their forums about it..
The server is re-named and triplethink was kicked out, a different community still.
The server is re-named and triplethink was kicked out, a different community still.
Where did you find all of this out?
Where did you find all of this out?
What puppy156 said is true. Message me if you want to know what happened. Sansa will most likely try to remove this but if you wanna know, just message me. I won't post it on the forums.
fuck triplethink just added me for his 200$ coderhire job and now he got kicked out?
You gotta turn on PMs before I can message you.
Go for it. I'd say "Sansa Stark" jacked the server from him.

Looking at the forum, it seems like Sansa went for a power grab and that effectively killed the whole thing off once control was taken back.
Just saying, the proper Our Benefactors has never had a power grab problem. TIL: Dictatorships are awesome!
Looking at the forum, it seems like Sansa went for a power grab and that effectively killed the whole thing off once control was taken back.

Just saying, the proper Our Benefactors has never had a power grab problem. TIL: Dictatorships are awesome!
We're still alive and kicking, and bigger than before. Here's my post about it: To begin to defend myself, I would have to start from the very beginning. I joined the original Our Benefactors server perhaps a month ago. It was a Clockwork server, and Triple himself said he was just about to let the payments run out before he met me. The server was empty, besides an admin, himself and me. I added him to steam and I spoke to him, and I said that if he wanted a great server, I could help. I showed him my experience with mapping and coding, and he was in awe. He agreed for me to help, and the server was dead as soon as the only two people to ever get on, didn't get on. We were using Elpishost at the time. For those unfamiliar, it's not very good (at least in my opinion). It was down constantly, and you had to jump through hoops to get the file manager to work. We were testing a custom Nutscript schema when the server went down for almost a whole day. I suggested that he purchase a server with NFO, but he refused due to the fact that he didn't have any money at the time, and that his paypal was limited from charging back on Steam. I had to pay for the server myself, and I registered it under the name of "Our Benefactors". This was the first sign of trouble. We were using NFO and a Nutscript schema, when Diss began to sell Combine Control at a discounted launch price. I jumped on the opportunity, as it was an amazing gamemode and would fit what wanted perfectly. A day later, Triplethink paid for the gamemode (but through me, because his paypal was limited) and we launched the server almost immediately. The first ever player on it was Nyan Bonk, who is now the co-owner, due to my trust in him and his dedication in making this server great. The server was a hit almost from that very day. Triplethink and I were both very ecstatic. This was the second sign of trouble. Beyond that point, Triplethink began to be offline a lot more. He works two jobs, and he didn't have time to be on. So, I took up the responsibilities of being the server owner. I, at first, only gave myself "owner" on the gamemode to help develop. The server was in its infancy and I had to help. We had a lot of minges, being a very new server, and I was the only admin on. Triplethink would go days without ever getting on, and I began to grew disheartened. Another thing was the fact that the playerbase he made vanished. Only one person who was ever on the server before, the time it was on Clockwork, ever showed up. The rest were ghosts. As time went on, Triple and I began to grow apart. He was barely on and I was always on. He was recommending admins I didn't feel were right, and making demands without actually being there through all the chaos. It was at this point that I decided the dream that him and I both shared had moved past him. I felt he was stuck in the past while I was thinking forward. I made a choice, after thinking about it long and hard and getting so much flak from it, to start my own thing. It was what I felt was best for the community. I told people, and still am, that you don't have to join my server. You can do whatever you want, and I wouldn't think badly upon you. People made a choice to continue to play under the new name, and for that, I am very grateful. Again, thank you everyone for sticking with us through it all. I appreciate every one of you.
i crashed the server with this shit
Reported to Garry Newell.
Using CC doesn't automatically make your server good and take HL2RP 'back to its roots'.
I doubt hl2rp can be taken back to its roots, but the server is pretty good. Same problem as 90% of servers — map too big for the playerbase
I doubt hl2rp can be taken back to its roots, but the server is pretty good. Same problem as 90% of servers — map too big for the playerbase
^ Every server seems to have this issue unless it's bastardized from another community or two and gets an immediate playerbase. I miss the days of the original HL2RP in TnB, where it was like an episode of Dragonball Z. Villainous Plot/Figure A is overcome. Introduce Villainous Plot/Figure B which trumps A. Repeat process until you realize Rex Lee doesn't die and Zara Kane is going to rape you and there is nothing you can do about it.
tacoscript was good man i miss those times
tacoscript was good man i miss those times
Then there was the time where HL2RP ran on Cider2 and anyone could be combine, instead of being super serious and requiring applications and serious roleplay was uber serious. When HL2RP ran off of Cider2 you just chose classes to play as and the job system was like DarkRP, except serious roleplay was still enforced at the same time. It led to fun times where it wasn't so overly serious that it ended a boring game of "get searched, talk to depressed people, and listen to trolls." Stuff happened, the resistance did stuff, and it was general fun for everyone and it encouraged picking loyalties and working with people. Then the official HL2RP happened and that got killed.
