Hey guys. Bad news, and it's not silly stuff this time.
My family is taking me out for some fun time this weekend, and I've been alerted to changed exam dates, which require me to study. I'll be unable to write the turn this weekend, and I've made a realization.
I've delayed the turn too much. It's not worth dragging the RP out and disappointing people with late turn after late turn as my school studies begin to absorb my freetime.
The Shifting Sands is essentially going to be cancelled rather than be put on a backburner and ignored. There will, however, be an entire magazine article in 1999 involving all nations played as and their effects on the region/world as a whole.
I'm seriously sorry that it had to come to this, but it's best that it go out with a bang rather than just be dragged kicking and screaming to a disappointing end.
It was super fun, and I'm really glad you guys have given me the experience of this RP. It let me flow creatively, and it let me put a lot of my historical studies to good use.
It's wonderful to see the participation, scheming, anachronisms and pseudo-diplomacy that took place. As much as you were at each other's throats, you wove this story together.

Well, let's work from what was happening now and work my way back in time

[B]And now for the secret to end all secrets, the one that most of MEC will probably think I've stabbed them in the back for and Native will probably realize that I didn't tell him [I]everything[/I]:

I prevented Native Hunter/Lebanon from invading Israel. Originally MEC (without my approval), had this long plan to persuade Lebanon that Israel was [I]definitely[/I] going to invade him and that he should preemptively strike Israel. In fact, Israel was going to have his forces on the border waiting for Lebanon to invade and repel him instantly. The plan was that NATO members of MEC would then use Lebanon's "uncalled for war" to kick him out of NATO. With him out of that, MEC was free to invade him without issue.
How did I prevent this? I told Persia [I]everything[/I] and asked him to help me figure out how to prevent MEC from this suicidal plan (I know for a fact that it was suicidal because I told Zillamaster the whole scheme too and his quote was "You guys are fucked if you think you can get away with this" :v: ). Sobotnik/Persia subtly questioned Native and some MEC members about what was "going on in the world" and using strategic placed comments was able to "figure it out" by himself through MEC replies and persuade Native that it was a bad idea to invade Israel.
[I]Now MEC, this wasn't a great loss, I'm not done yet![/I]
Because I had told this whole scheme to Persia, Sobotnik had, at least what seemed to be, his full trust in me. This resulted in him telling me a whole slew of his plans for TEU which I was quite easily able to leak to MEC ears and allow us to coordinate plans to extend Persia's war in Afghanistan.

Funnily enough, the [B]whole point[/B] of my tanks were to invade the part of Persia that Persia ended up giving me anyway without any kind of payment in return. To be honest, that more annoyed me than anything else :v:

Honestly I was going to invade like a turn or two after the USSR broke down because I know Sobotnik was hungry for those central Asian nations to go into TEU and I figured he would be stretched to his limit just then :v:

The Lebanon war totally would've worked. Though there was some crazy plans about false flags on ourselves that I thought were unnecessary. My special forces/crisis actors in Lebanon would've had that country burning on its own accord in a few more turns.

Oh and I was going to set up an Aid base in Afghanistan that would basically operate as a Saudi colony to mine and export out Uranium ore. I was also going to buddy up to Chad and Niger to buy up their Uranium too.
