The Russian Empire, though, does have some success with armored warfare against the Germans. But it is mostly for the shock value. By December, German forces have effectively divided up the front in favor of the Central powers. In Elas-Lothringen, military forces have began to dig in and build fortifications. The German government has requested that all French forces pull back from the border, but the calls are ignored. Back at home, far-left literature and books on Socialism and Communism are burnt in the streets. Leftist thinkers and scholars are beaten and mugged on the daily, all while the German government turns a blind eye. Anyone who is against this is labelled a Russian sympathizer, and shunned by their communities. - A German delegation in London begins talks of an alliance with the United Kingdom. Popular points that the German ambassador tries arguing are, “Russia is instigating the war”, “France is going to attack us first”, and the famous, “Russia is a disease from the East”. Talks break down after a few weeks after they go nowhere and often become shouting matches between the two parties. The German government has sent the blue-prints of the Gewehr 98 rifle to Austria-Hungary, who in return, sends Germany mustard gas. Most of the rioting and civil unrest is over by the winter, for now. - The Russian government encourages China to take over the German port of Kiachow, and to resist foreign influence. Results were morbid and sickened many Austro-Hungarian soldiers who had to remove the dead. - The war in Serbia is almost over as Austro-Hungarian and Bulgarian soldiers march on most major cities and destroy much of the remaining resistance. But it comes at a cost, both the Bulgarian Army and Austro-Hungarian Army have suffered major losses, Almost 200,000 men have been lost on both sides. During the Austro-Hungarian/Bulgarian victory parade through Belgrade, multiple men are killed in lone terrorist attacks. Ultimately, talks begin between the Bulgarian and Austro-Hungarian government about dividing up Serbia between the two nations. And by December, the state of Serbia no longer exists. - With the war in Serbia over, the Austro-Hungarians are able to push into Russia with the assistance of the German army. However, this is only possible because of the fact that Russia is now fighting a two front war. With eyes set on Ukraine and its “liberation”, Austro-Hungarian forces are at the doors of Vinnitsa by Christmas, meeting heavy Russian resistance. - A decree from the Kaiser states that all POW’s must be treated with respect and dignity. This wins the Austro-Hungarians respect from both Russian and Serbian soldiers alike. Talk of towns and cities that were liberated being completely intact become common talking points of Austro-Hungarian discipline. They urge the French government to “champion republicanism through peace”, and not to attack the German Empire. The French government quickly reminds the US that it is it’s own entity, and will deal with problems how they see fit. - Economic envoys are sent to China and trade talks begin with local governments on what possibly could be traded. Talks aren’t really going anywhere by the end of 1914 as the Chinese don’t offer anything of much use to the Americans. - A small naval building campaign begins. A fleet of 10 frigates and 2 battleships begins. The main goal is to protect American shipping throughout the Pacific and Atlantic. - The American government ends it’s supplying of arms to Mexican rebels and issues a warning to Americans traveling to nations locked in war. Mexican rebels respond by attacking American border towns.
