I've already talked to Deng about it. He's letting me join as Russia, which is not as strong as you think. It's weaker than Lithuania, Livonia, and Scandinavia. And my vast tracts of land which make me the largest nation on the planet are mostly uninhabited. Anything East of the Urals is basically nothing.

The wording of this sentence alone makes me have a hard time believing it. I have nothing against you personally and I had nothing to do with your country capitulating, but it just doesn't make any sense to me to reward players who were unable to to uphold their country by allowing them to play as an equally powerful if not more powerful country than the one they had before or at all really. For this reason, I don't support Griff joining as France either.
Ultimately, each player alone is responsible for the survival of their nation/faction against all threats, including metagaming. I understand that you sought peace as your nation, but peace is a rarity not only in the time period this RP covers, but in these RPs in general. Perhaps if you had invested some research into weapons or defensive constructs, your original country would still be standing. That said, if you truly want peace, instead of playing as the largest country in the world, you could play as Switzerland and research chocolate and watches to your heart's contentment. As for Griff, maybe you could play as Sri Lanka or a country in Indochina.

Egypt would never have stood against any one of the three countries that attacked it 1v1, let alone 3v1. There was no saving it save for attempts for peace. I actually had fairly advanced weapon technology. I was the first middle eastern nation to have bronze cast cannons and matchlock rifles (advanced at that time)
I got ganged up on. There was nothing I could have done to stop it. So I fail to see how I should be punished for that. No other forum game like this has in the past so why start now? What kind of way is that to play a game?
