I was thinking. What 2b2t needs is a plugin that deletes chunk files that have had no alterations made. So chunks that don't have player placed blocks get deleted from the map until they get regenerated.
I reckon that will make the 800GB current map about 350GB, reducing the lag quite significantly.
Hause got back to me and thinks he fixed it. Have to log in tonight and see.

There are plenty of completely untouched chunks right at my base. I don't want to log in one day and see them replaced by some ugly slices of rock

I think you misunderstand my point perhaps. They will only be removed when no one is online and near them. If they are in your render area, they won't go away. Its only once you log off they will be removed.
The only issue where this will arise is where people base in old terrain.
Actually that's a pretty bad idea as it would obliterate spawn.
Carry on.
Hause got me out last night. So back to building more useless shit.

the size of the map has nothing to do with the lag, what are you smoking

Hause has probably inhaled it by now.

A lot of info is missing on this. I wish I had more dates like for example the foundation of Imperator Base, Hitlerwood or NFE. But well, I did what I could.
People are free to edit it and continue it later if they want to.

server is kill
hause pls restart
isnt there a setting in the lagmeter plugin that once TPS/memory reaches a certain threshold the server will automagically restart? or do something meaningful?

hause is far too retarded to do anything this simple
also creating an auto-restart is too much of a good idea for hause to do

the wrath of hause strikes again
Postal confirmed for hausemaster empathist
When's the part 2 going to be on the blog?
If the server thread hadn't been thrown in this section we could have had a bunch of new or returning players
i'm quitting 2b2t this week. i need to concentrate on getting my life together with university (coming up) and work. 2b2t is too much of a burden for me. i'm happy to have played with so many wonderfully autistic people.

This explains why jared2013 had items spawned in from the backdoor plugin.
I guess Pyrobyte, iTristan and co knew it was taylo since taylo had some access to the backdoor but apparently didn't know everything, or so I'm told.
When's the part 2 going to be on the blog?
I've been home to italy for a few days. As I'm now back, part 2 of 7(?) will be up either today or tomorrow.
Also, I spoke to xarviar and he said he has never made a facepunch account :tinfoil:

It has be griefed more than once. IMBJR does it. Really a shame.
Well that sucks. I always considered it an iconic landmark on the server.
Well that sucks. I always considered it an iconic landmark on the server.
It is iconic. Jaang built Valley of Wheat as a public base and road-stop along the nether highway, I believe in 2012 sometime. In the nether there was a sand covered pyramid that granted access to the overworld valley. I was taken to the valley a few years ago by 0fftopia and was amazed; however it was in terrible shape, with all the pyramids having lavacasts to world height. Jaang was long gone.
Eventually after a few of my bases were rekt, I went to VoW and began digging it out. After several weeks and with help from passie05 and zxcwbz1 it was cleaned, and repaired and we began replanting. Miraculously at this time Jaang returned after having been gone for nearly a year. He was amazed to find the valley restored and began expanding it. Some others, such as Hnas and CainesLaw stopped by, and lent a hand in it's upkeep and expansion.
The second age of the valley had a good run despite some massive lavacasting from IMBJR on one occasion and another, more recent, TNT episode. There was retribution for each of these events, though, there's no real stopping his dedication to the 'cause' of destruction.
Anyway, the more recent griefing is the work of SqueekyFromme and Billy_Idle, who may be one in the same, I don't know. He is dedicated to single-handedly removing all of the wheat and water sources by hand. I am abandoning the valley. I've spent almost a year as it's steward and I'm done with it.
For posterity:
